You need to balance how much space you have available with how much you want that dedicated device, obviously, but otherwise there's no reason not to have a waffle iron if you want waffles, or a coffee maker if you want coffee. Some things do actually need a dedicated device (or at least are so much easier with a dedicated device that it's sensible to have one). That, and if you're suggesting that boiling water is "only one thing," I'm thinking you need to cook more. |

Not sure what point you're talking about, especially where SteamDB has a lowest recorded price of $20. And how long did that price last? February 25th was the day it was added to Steam, and I believe to Humble as well. Me, I'd attribute that to a pricing error on day 1 (presumably because it defaulted to $X.99 instead of $(X+1).00), and not call that anything against the claim that they're going with $20/30 even. sonic_c_tail posted... Lots of games have given free updates without increasing the price of the base game but now corporate greed figured people would buy into the "feature- complete" argument. Would you rather they charged full retail price for half a game when they started the Early Access process? Because me, I think the model of charging a lesser price for a lesser game makes a whole lot of sense, and then bumping it up to the full retail price when they feel they've got a retail-worthy game. sonic_c_tail posted... This is a $5 dollar game at most. I'd love to hear how you figure that. I'm not even going to challenge the claim; I just want to issue an open-ended invitation for you to explain why you think this game is worth no more than $5. Herpes posted... Game is trash, they've started dumbing everything down. How so? The update to splitters in 0.16 is pretty handy, reducing the need for circuitry to help balance lanes, but there's a considerable amount of middle ground between "you have to program everything with comparators" and "dumbed down." |

Not sure what point you're talking about, especially where SteamDB has a lowest recorded price of $20. sonic_c_tail posted... Not only that but you never addressed the point that they use early access as a scapegoat to keep their game "in the new wrap" which prevents it from going on sale I never addressed that point because it's completely baseless and ridiculous. Plenty of Early Access games go on sale on a regular basis, and the developer's reasoning for not doing sales has nothing to do with Early Access. This is not, as you suggested, increasing the price on some random update. It's increasing the price on what they expect to be the final major content update before launching the game, because it makes sense to charge full price for a feature-complete game. Lil69Leo posted... Lol it will go on sale. Every game always does. Maybe some day, but I wouldn't expect it any time soon. |

_AdjI_ 04/10/18 4:45:42 PM #7 | I made some red velvet cupcakes recently that were really good (with white chocolate cream cheese frosting). I opted not to add the 3 tablespoons of red food colouring the recipe called for, though, because that was just gross. They ended up being a reddish-brown instead (the acidity of the buttermilk and vinegar reacts with the cocoa to change its colour), so not as red as most would expect. |

Topic | Why does "expressing sexuality" even matter? |
_AdjI_ 03/08/18 7:02:39 AM #6 | chaosbowser posted... Its a common behavior among all people. People just notice it among LGBT people more because its different. Guys who constantly go on about how hot girls are or who theyd love to bang or what their type is are also expressing their sexuality. LGBT just want that kind of expression to be more common and not hush hush. That, plus a bit extra as a means of pushing back against being stifled. Pride parades may seem pretty silly to people who've grown up in a more tolerant world, but for a guy who would risk criminal prosecution if he were seen holding his boyfriend's hand in public, the fact that a celebration like that is allowed to exist is a source of profound joy and relief. |
Topic | In terms of importance, how would you rank the four core school subjects? |
_AdjI_ 03/07/18 11:33:17 PM #7 | TheSlinja posted... english is the most important up untill about middle school where it becomes by far the least important Sounds about right, though I might argue even earlier than middle school. You can get pretty far with a grade 6 reading level, and even if formal English education stops you're likely to be able to develop beyond that by reading on your own. Similarly, math is extremely important up until you figure out algebra (or at least the basic concept of being able to take known values and arrange them to produce the desired unknown), and then ends up being largely useless outside of increasingly niche applications the further up you go. Science is a lot more important than many people give it credit for simply because of the value of scientific literacy. Taking science to specialist levels is only useful for people looking to specialize accordingly, but having a basic understanding is important to be able to understand important issues that are reported from time to time. A lack of general scientific literacy is why things like climate change denial and anti-vaxxers emerge, as well as why the pharmaceutical, oil, and food industries are able to get away with so many lies. Granted, lower-level science classes don't typically teach that kind of scientific literacy and healthy skepticism in the current system, but we're speaking generally here, so I figure I can be more broad and hypothetical. DocDelicious posted... History is easily the most important, we have phones and computers to do math for us. We have phones and computers to do history for us, too. Meanwhile, you do need a certain degree of mathematical problem solving ability to get a computer to do math for you, even if it'll handle the actual computations. |

_AdjI_ 03/02/18 4:50:40 PM #56 | bulbinking posted... Excuse me but I could kill a man just as easily with or without a firearm. Demonstrably false, but you also missed the actual point there. That statement wasn't about guns, it was about laws in a general sense. darkknight109 posted... No, tyrants don't have any means to accrue arms and power that regular citizens do not have. There is no secret underground society quietly equipping its minions for the new world order. Every radicalist group or wannabe tin-pot dictator gets their arms from the same place: the exact same gun factories supplying local citizens. Shut down the factories and both groups are disarmed, which is the eminently preferable situation. To be fair, if arms production is heavily restricted, the cost of weaponry goes up such that only the wealthy can realistically access it. That's just basic supply and demand. That's not quite the same thing as "only the tyrants will be able to have guns," but it is a definite restriction of Joe Rebel's ability to get one by comparison. |

In all honesty, that's not really a bad thing. The first part of Wreck-It Ralph is hands down the worst part of it, because there's nothing going for it but cringey "hey look we're referencing old video games DO YOU NOT FEEL NOSTALGIC?", the novelty of which wears off pretty quickly and doesn't hold up on subsequent viewings. It would have been nice if Sugar Rush wasn't the only game that got any sort of focus, given the potential the universe had for more diverse environments, but the movie only really got good once they stopped trying to pander to nostalgic gamers and started telling an interesting story and developing interesting characters. Really, I don't see that's there's much value in the idea of "a movie about video games," beyond the basic concept of making a universe that allows for diverse environments. Appeals to nostalgia and the tiny bit of validation gamers get from having their hobby featured in popular culture (not that gaming isn't already popular culture these days) just aren't worth that much. |
