Hitman: Absolution for Xbox 360

This isn't my favorite Hitman game (behind Blood Money, the recent game, and maybe even GO), yet I've beaten it four times since May of 2013.

Whats the proper way to get into that series? Which games should I start with first?

Law of ueki is something I need to read one day as a connoisseur of shonen battle manga.

It's a weird thing to be a connoisseur of.

Have you read other old ones like Flame of Recca? That's the show that got me started on "smart fights" and "Reading the Manga Because It Came First...Mostly"

Generic 2d Shooter that was pretty nice for its tight controls. Albeit, its difficulty mainly stems from unfair mechanics (checkpoint starvation mainly). It was still pretty neat. Music was annoyingly grating after awhile.

What can I say, I'm a sucker for these oldschool adventure games. There's a certain charm towards the terrible voice acting, stilted animation, and outdated backdrops of Paris. At least it's not as terribly taxing as Syberia. But oh my god, this game was still too slow for me. Unskippable dialogue and everyone sounds American. In Paris.

My favorite ill-defined game is Grimslingers. I love the theme and the system but it attempts to be even worse than Netrunner by making the most convoluted glossary ever. It replaces every single card game term with its own, all for what is essentially modified rock paper scissors.

Unpopular Opinion time: I actually love BANG the Card Game. People who complain about the elimination just don't know "how" to play it. The game at least for us is deliberate, social, and requires even amounts of tabletalk to truly work. Sure, you can just shoot each other and in 2 seconds everyone's roles become obvious. But I've seen some crazy plays like a rogue Deputy whittling the Sherrif within an inch of his life so that his enemies can fight amongst themselves.

Bang the Card game is the one game I regret I can't play anymore as absolutely everyone hates it and prefers the dice version.

it's not just the elimination, though - the game moves at a crawl. coup lets you get killed early, but you know it won't last long afterward. the onslaught of MANCATO! cards, and the fact that you need a bang card to deal damage, is just killer!

If it helps, there was a fanmade expansion that allowed the dead to play as ghosts who had limited but disruptive abilities.

Still doesn't excuse the pace I know but it's like Samurai Spirit when you know the round is over cos you've lost your last villager but you still wanna recreate kurosawa's Last Stand with the rest of the raiders. It's about immersion, and the deliberate tension that comes with hanging on to that last sliver of health.

I dunno what to tell ya. Our group is always glued to the remaining players no matter how long it takes

5th Nom:

Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji - Kaiji - Slave Beats Emperor

Full Version: https://animostream.com/watch/kaiji/episode-22
Summary (Live-Action):

First off, here are the rules of the game in question:
http://tobakumokushirokukaiji.wikia.com/wiki/E_Card

Not a long read but what you need to know is that Kaiji has the Slave deck, he only has a 1/5 chance of beating Tonegawa who wields the Emperor deck (and in turn has a 4/5 win chance).

The game's currency is in the form of "depth", measured by the device you see in the anime (the live action doesn't make it that obvious). Whenever Kaiji bets a certain amount, it is translated to depth...that is how deep the drill attached to his head will go within his earlobe. As you can see, Kaiji is already bleeding by the time he wins. This is because he lost big in the first few rounds and suffered for it.

Also, you should know that Tonegawa was using his watch as a cheating device. So not only was Kaiji against the odds, he was also being played for a sap.

Other than those contexts, the videos should explain to you what happened. Kaiji uses psychology to read a Tonegawa's behavior and acted accordingly by performing a double fake trick.

Assassin's Creed: Unity (PC)

I can understand the flack this game gets but to be honest, it feels like a grown up version of Ezio's tale. It's not without its flaws though, but I can appreciate the work put into this game easily. It's a shame I hear that the next game will have a small and less detailed map to work with.

Final nom:

The Legend Black Heaven Oji Tanaka / Gabriel (w/ Black Heaven) Let Me Go, Let You Go

Don't know if you know this old series so a little context:

Basically the show is about a ship's weapon system that can only be powered by hardcore rock, of which Tanaka (and his band) was doing wonderfully at. They get them to perform in order to win a galactic war against some evil aliens.

After a few episodes, the aliens decided to play them at their own game by using the band's asshole keyboardist Watanabe and retrofitting him with 8 arms to be a band on his own so that he can match Black Heaven's sound. He does so successfully.

Dejected, Tanaka is reinvigorated on the 11th hour by his ex-gf who manages to bring him all his old fans (Tanaka was a washed up artist by the start of the series) and after an emotional moment, plays a unique song from his heart. This one is even more powerful and since Watanabe could not possibly copy or fathom it, is utterly destroyed in one hit.

The Evil Within 2 (PC)

I came for the scares, I wasn't expecting any feels. We're talking Last of Us level feels here. I'm so sad this game didn't sell as well as it should. Hope a sequel comes out but I doubt it.

Just finished Evil Within 2 (PS4). Absolutely loved it!

Considering there was a sequel hook (which I loved), I really hope they follow through too.

I'm hoping the hook is legit. It would be nice to see the Ruvik storyline resolved. Although...it's just it appears Sebastian's story is done. The 3rd game will either set Sebastian up as Chris Redfield, an "expert" in STEM stuff, or it will go Silent Hill 3 and have you play as Lily aged all the way up.

That said, I've not known any other co-op that requires so much micro-ing as AH.

I find the qualities of a filler game are something easily explained in 5 minutes, plays fast, and most importantly infinitely replayable. It's this reason that my favorite filler is 2 games. The first is Lost Legacy, which has dethroned Love Letter for us.

Lost Legacy adds an extra depth of special to the Love Letter formula. It is also draw 1 play 1 but it adds 2 things: a ruins deck where a card may go to and stay unknown (order is important) and an Investigation phase by the end which gives each player a chance to guess where the LL (this game's princess) is. BUT, the order of investigation starts from the lowest numbered card which is always the riskiest to play.

If you're looking for a Love Letter that plays over 4 Seabass, no problem with this game as combining any two Lost Legacy decks can go up to 6 players. Yeah, thats right: decks. For you see Lost Legacy comes in many flavors each with its own mechanical theme (card scrying, elimination, math draws, etc) so say if you want a cutthroat game with player reading you combine The Starship and The Vorpal Sword. If you want a math game with graveyard searching you combine the Sacred Grail and the Staff of Dragons. Even in those counts a 32 deck game is still very short at 6p.

And the 2nd filler I love? It is also our loudest game: Deep Sea Adventure. This very deceptive japanese microgame is at its core about greed. See, you're all on a quest for undersea loot, but everyone shares the same oxygen tank. So its not only push your luck, but a cutthroat game of chance as well. All it takes is one desparate guy in the back row to pick up treasure and consume oxygen for the rest of the pack to follow suit and drown. Very cerebral, and very loud. Lots of YOU GREEDY BASTARD tossed arpund here and there. The game shines brightest after about 50 plays when the metagame has gotten to a pt where nobody drowns but everyone is vocally unnerved by each other's greed.
