"Funnily" enough, Japan has a big problem with older men perving on underage girls with some shops even using younger girls to draw in that sort of crowd. It's almost like there's a connection between normalizing pedophilia and an increase in sexual assaults on underage people.

The US has a far bigger child molestation rate and general child abuse rate and far more child/teen pregnancies (one of the major reasons why underage sex is discouraged).

And Japan has cafes where underage girls in sailor scout uniforms are forced to allow middle-aged men to lay their heads on their laps, and never have the right to complain.

Basically, if you're comparing crime rates, you have to remember that in places where pedophilia is more normalized, you're likely to see lower crime rates because it's rarely charged as a crime.

Allow me to illustrate it for you.

In Molestland, people get molested 900 times, but because it's legal in molestland, nobody gets arrested, so the crime statistic for molestation cases is 0.

In Nomolestland, people get molested 90 times, and of those 90, 80 get charged for molestation, arrested, and incarcerated. The crime statistic for molestation cases is 80.

So which has more molestation? Molestland with 0 people charged for molesting, or Nomolestland with 80 people charged for molesting?

Can everyone recognize that Marco Rubio is actually doing shit that Democrats couldn't get done when they were in power... Just introduced a gun violence restraining order bill (something I linked to a few topics back).

Is it gonna pass? If not, thats not doing shit.

Though sure, Dems didnt really do anything on the issue either

Dems didn't really do anything on the issue because of the silly Republican obstruction from 2010 on

Funny to note how Seph leaves that out of his post and just says it was something the Dems "couldn't get done"

Especially considering that was the primary reason Republicans did so much stonewalling - so they could claim Obama was a do-nothing president and ensure that he would only get one term.

It was literally something they planned, out loud, and people still bought into it.

In an age where information is freely available, people still choose convenient ignorance.

So basically, Trump is the guy that makes his loyal fanbase sacrifice values they would previously died for just because they don't want to be proven wrong about him being the "best President ever".

Sounds about right.

Yes, because I've learned long ago that the more energy you waste on people who aren't worth it, the worse off you are.

That and anyone who creates a dozen alts I feel less qualms about ignoring.

That being said, it's not just because I disagree with his politics - it takes a lot more than that. You have to be an actively nasty or obnoxious person for me to put on my blocklist (unfortunately, any internet forum has that in spades) and you also have to be pretty unreasonable.

If you can't be bothered to sit through all fourteen movies, MarzGurl reviews them all pretty well here.

Including the TV series and most of the video games (minus the "activity center" stuff)

Yes.

There was a tv series, too.

A, thankfully, short-lived one.

Let me make sure I don't have this reversed...

They are siding with the loan collectors? And not the people crippled by student debt which (correct me if i'm wrong) is still the nastiest and most lingering form of debt?

Peace___Frog posted...
Correct. Some states are trying to protect consumers from loan sharks that prey on unsuspecting students trying to navigate through the collegiate financial system. The administration wants to neuter that endeavor in order to reward predatory behavior.

So, what was that bullshit about the Republicans saying poor people should just go to college with money they don't have to get job skills for the sole purpose of making more than minimum wage?

At this point, Republicanism is literally a pyramid scheme.

Though progressiveness and divirsity aren't counter to actual conservative philosophies, though perhaps they are to Republican ones.

Very good point, though I will say that Gene Roddenberry definitely had some pretty extreme ideas about what his ideal utopia entailed (such as the complete elimination of all religion or spiritual beliefs, which thankfully later series toned down)

He was a massive jerk anyways, though.

I mean, it could come from somebody watching loli anime which, while depraved and sickening in nearly every manner, isn't the same as pedophilia

Pedophilia is the attraction to those that are underage - fiction or not.
While watching loli anime isn't necessarily an indication of pedophilia, it can still be a red flag. Though its mere existence is disturbing, especially when it goes... "fanservicey".

Yeah at first reading atlas shrugged was bizarre since her villians in that story are clearly based on the type of people who worship her today.

You mean like how people look at Star Trek, a series that's been pushing the envelope on progressiveness and runs counter to conservative philosophies, and go "Hmm, yes, clearly the heroes are Republicans and their enemies are lieberal feminasty demoncrats."?

Or am I giving Rand *way* too much credit with this comparison?

As for me, I will judge Rand's books by the results, which is, as I said, a community of people who believe that sociopathy is the ideal state of human being.

And also her hypocrisy, being that she dehumanized people who have to rely on welfare while she, herself, had to rely on welfare.

I only watched the first one and I remember it being extremely depressing as a young child.

I really got into these as a kid, actually.

The first one is definitely super depressing.

The second one is, while the beginning of the "let's just churn out movies left and right because kids love dinosaurs and will eat it up" era, actually one of my favorite movies as a kid. I think I legitimately watched it more than the first one. That being said, it was also nice to see characters who had been through so much have a chance to be happy, even if they did immediately start getting into more and more danger.

After so many movies, I ended up just watching them whenever they showed up on TV, which wasn't hard because they aired frequently.

Honestly, people rightfully harp on the movies for being cranked out so frequently, but when you're a kid with low standards (which is most kids, and that's as it should be) it's honestly pretty great.

Actually, I don't think we can even claim they rebooted Reboot anymore.

It looks like this could easily take place after the original show, since the villain claims he brought Megabyte back, and the totally-not-Sara-from-Toonami chick says that "humans are Guardians now" or something like that.

If that's the case, it's a TRIPLE waste - we were even denied a good pun.

Of course, I'm hoping plenty of them realize just how brainwashed the movement made them and how much cognitive dissonance they have to subscribe to now, and hop off of it before it crashes a second/third time.

Well since no one guessed mine, I'll just go ahead and replace it.

It's based on a book series but it's awful. Imagine, if you would, an animated movie based off of Lord of the Rings, without Aragorn, Frodo wields Narsil, is a jackass, and jumps at the first chance of adventure, and Saruman displaces Sauron as the main antagonist. Also, it's called "The Twin Towers" but the plotline takes place almost entirely within Fellowship of the Ring. Also, the One Ring doesn't exist. That is how bad this movie is.

Since we're on the last page (at least for people who are using the 50 posts per page deal) The answer to this one is Disney's Black Cauldron.
