Honestly one of the main moments that underlines the problem for me is when Surtur is destroying Asgard, and everyone is escaping Korg says something like "its foundations are strong we can rebuild it" then Surtur cracks through the crust and the foundation of Asgard falls apart, then Korg says something like "oh wait no no there's no foundation left now lol" He does say in that scene "what have I done?" but you are forgetting a few things here as well. Like Odin says Asgard isn't a place, it's the people so as long as the people are safe it is fine.
