It's a shame that the matches begin at 5pm Pacific, I'll be missing the start of most matches.

It makes sense from SBAllen's side, plus we may get to see larger vote swings which could make things interesting.

We could see larger than expected trend shifts just from the double votes for registered users, as the registered user vote will be more concentrated near the beginning of the match. The early vote totals will likely see an improvement by getting moved to 8:00 PM Eastern, but it will be tough to measure that with the registered user bonus.

Another thing to keep an eye on during the first few days is how quickly the site adjusts to the new starting time. When 12 hour matches first appeared in the 2010 Character Battle, it took less than a week for the site to adjust to the starting time for day matches. I don't expect the new starting time to be an issue for the site as the previous 2 contests had a countdown timer above the current matches counting down to the start of the next matches, and this timer should make a return for this contest too.

Does anyone think it would be better to add the registered user bonus at the end of the match? Rallies tend to do just enough to win so a few thousand votes being added may reverse any rally.

Thatd be pretty damn funny and a better rally prevention measure.

But it'd make the match itself way less exciting.

My bracket is built on the assumption that Gamefaqs voters will side with Mario and Square over Pokemon. And it's unregistered users that have made Pokemon overperform. So double vote means Red can't beat Sora, Charizard can't beat Bowser, Mewtwo can't beat Tifa, and Pikachu can't beat Yoshi.

On the other hand, if you have Pokefear, you should have all of them winning those matches. Doesn't make sense to me to take only Pikachu.

I could still see Pikachu having legit strength compared to Red, Mewtwo and Charizard. Face of the brand and all that

Interesting, I dont know how official my diagnosis is but its probably BP or BP schizophrenia (these are what are most often mentioned).

Thing is, so much of it comes down to money and I have none of it and it seems ludicrously impossible for me to make even close to the amount that I would be able to pay for even my basic living expenses, much less the $5,000 for a 3-day stay in a facility (lol...).

Yeah I understand. I'm lucky I found a job that I can handle. It's not too stressful for the most part

The reason I think this is sad is that it looks like a reinforcement of the Pareto distribution. It's intentionally filtering out people who aren't already successful with women, telling them they're weird for that reason, and then saying they aren't allowed to complain that people won't give them a chance because they haven't experienced success yet. Thus the catch-22. That doesn't seem reasonable to me.

Yeah. I agree with him on most points except the shyness one. I feel like that can affect a lot of people of all ages and it's only a 'huge red flag' if it results in you acting super weird/being hard to communicate with. You can be shy and timid but still an interesting and dateable person.

Working in mental health and seeing so many kind, intelligent people who have no friends other than their family or their therapist due to depression/anixety/mental illness has put a lot of things into perspective for me. People are too quick to judge
