There's an episode of parks and recreation where ann shows leslie that tom's apartment is always at 80 fahrenheit and they were squealing with delight, but isn't 80F like 26 Celsius? That's kinda hot for an indoor area, room temperature is anywhere from 3 to 5 degrees lower than that (so low 70s)

I just don't understand that particular scene.

But it's not just that, it's the design of the world itself. Especially when going through the area just before the final battle. The colors, the design, compared with the music, it's just the best. And such a sharp contrast to the rest of the game's lighthearted disney worlds.

Yes. All the time. I like it slash/dislike it. My friend tells me I need to develop my "bitch face" she calls it because my current face is just too inviting, I'm constantly smiling and stuff. We'd be out buying milk and some random guy in the store is chiming in after I make a hilarious comment about the 2% thing. This other time a girl with a gay flyer was walking and talking about rights or something but I guess I shouldn't count that for obvious reasons.

What I hate about the average joe is that they seemingly encourage all the plastic and silicon, because then why else do women keep injecting themselves with that shit?

Not just olivia munn, there's this actress called megan fox who used to be really cute on this show called hope and faith, really hot too. But she kept getting more and more plastic surgery. Thing is that seems to have made her a success since she was in those robot movies which gross a ton of money that said average buffoon watches. Despite looking awful.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there needs to be an average joe buffoon lens or something that one can use to see the world through their eyes just so I can understand how they find all that disgusting plastic so attractive.

How exactly are grotesquely high cheekbones attractive on a girl when that's typically a more masculine attribute, having a square jaw and high cheekbones etc.

I've actually heard something like this before. Who IS this Moffat guy? Is he a comic book writer?

he's a writer
he did Sherlock, obviously, but he's also most famous for writing series 5 - 10 of Doctor Who

quite a few fans think he ruined the show and stopped watching after the previous showrunner left. I don't think that's quite fair, but Moffat does have some problems. he can't really write female characters as well as male character, he has a tendency to wrap things up with little explanation, and he's great at building up to something but struggles at giving it a meaningful conclusion
I still enjoy his writing, but he does have some clear faults that show up in both Sherlock and Doctor Who

I'm not really surprised at the female character thing. Also that last bit about building something without meaningful conclusion is pretty much what happens in Sherlock so I can see why fans think that.

I thought the Mary being a secret spy thing was weird but I rolled with it, and the secret sister thing was something I tolerated if it meant the end of the season, but despite all the crap they pulled I wouldn't even come close to comparing it to the garbage that is Lost, and didn't really get that vibe at all, because that shitshow is in a category all its own.

I mean, the whole Sherlock sister and Moriarty thing was pretty stupid/weird and admittedly quite the asspull but still not comparable to that show I actually loved once upon a time, just 10 years ago.

I liked the season 3 premiere of showing different scenarios especially the more comedic ones but otherwise it's also a teeny bit of a disappointment that they didn't actually think of a way for Sherlock to survive. Huh I guess it is a bit like Lost in that way, though not nearly as hate-inspiring as Lost was with every single plotline it had.

I was so confused by that part. So he's dating her, and she's completely unaware of everything, and so is Charles Magnussen, the dude who knows everything about everything? And she gave an interview while he was in the hospital, what? And did Sherlock really think his glasses were magical spy glasses that relayed information to him? Lol what?

Oh and is it implied he slept with her as well? That makes it worse somehow, and more sociopathy, and not in the fun Sherlock way, but rather more of a Dexter Morgan serial killer way.

No one mentioned nor really cares about sexualization though. Sexualization isn't exactly an issue or basis for sexism so much as the issue I mention in this topic and similar ones like it in jrpgs, for example ever heard of the trope where if the villain holds the girl's upper arm, she's suddenly rendered ineffectual despite being able to shoot lightning bolts from her fingertips or whatever? It's bizarre. There's this popular old school list of jrpg cliches from the old days that lists a bunch of stuff jrpgs do in general, and you can find some of the rules there.

After all, western media has shown that you can do both vulnerable and powerful for a character, it just has to be done right.

How are we still warring over there? Our military is bigger than their entire population. I genuinely don't understand the end game of the Afghanistan war at all.

The war is technically over. The problem is that it's still a very unstable region and there are still various terrorist/insurgent groups that remain a threat to the government, which is why forces remain there. It's not a very large contingency though - in 2017 there were a little over 13,700 NATO forces, almost 7,000 of which were US, in Afghanistan. A lot of it's just peacekeeping and also conducting training for the local military and police forces.

saspa posted...
Erm what? Didn't Obama withdraw out of Iraq and Afghanistan like, nearly a decade ago?

No. NATO forces peaked at about 130,000 in 2011 (less than a decade ago) and Obama in 2014 did plan on withdrawing the vast majority of forces and leaving a small force but that didn't work out.

That might be what I'm remembering. Can't believe they're still over there.

I do like some of the toppings and condiments at brgr though. They have this amazing sweet onion marmalade but it is $1.75.

Hehe sweet... onion... marmalade. That sounds exactly like the fancy shmancy stuff in restaurants nowadays that 5 guys does without. It really is a burger restaurant made just for me, simple and to the point, serving exactly what I want in a burger without added nonsense like chips and avocado and what have you. All the other burger joints do weird stuff like that, but I'm glad 5 guys exists for people like me who want the burger and just the classics like lettuce, pickles, etc.
