Also, and this Tiny Kong strong winds was one of the tougher ones yet just because the winds were stronger than any before, you have to remember that strong winds will not push you off the ledge, even thought it feels like they should. you will stop at the end. So you can play pretty defensive and come through with a victory.

I think I listed everyone. I got the unlocked everyone message anyway. I am missing a Mii fighter variant which I guess has to be unlocked in WoL. so I'll have to hunt that down.

The character select screen is all sorts of intimidating. Just thinking about the fact that at least 7 more(Counting the dumb Mii here) will be added to it is great.

I was sadly shot down, I thought that would have been interesting.

Would have been fun but we had the game setup with a need to get chris out for safety. On top of the fact that too many town were literally just not playing the game d1 and lynching whoever chris said(Town made it a lot harder on themselves because there really werent many thoughts put out day 1 by town itself).

there are supports for these. Have only needed to stop dangerously high winds once.

I saw one for the rotating screen and partially assumed there would be one for winds. Good to see that's the case.

That you basically need to counterplay them with supports to have a chance makes them the worst though. Ideally I'd like to be able to win these matches without having to just hard shut down the gimmick.

You can win all of them without the support.

I'm starting to get pretty fed up with WoL honestly, it feels like almost every battle is just them throwing three or more enemies at you with rapid item spawns and stage gimmicks to ensure there's more shit on screen than you can actually see. For every fun fight there's like three that are just "seventeen thousand things on screen YAY" tedium

I don't feel like theres ever all that much on screen. None so far have really been item chaos or anything.

Most of the larger battles are more about threat assessment and realizing which character you need to take down first.

Hey, I don't want to call anyone out or offend anyone, but why is this game taken as seriously as it is? The stakes are pretty low and games seem to be reasonably frequent.

Fifthly, I like how when it became obvious there was a doctor and an RB and a BG no one turned to the horrible lightning rod claim and be like Um, there's no way. Not one person did this. I am not going to degrade HB, you play to your audience after all, but shame on town.

He was supposed to just claim vanilla. I thought lightning rod was 100% suicide. The actions he claimed didnt even make logical sense but I'm not sure anybody ever brought any of it up.

I assume you have not played in a match with "Dangerously High Winds" or "Rotating Screen" yet because those are way worse than either of those.

there are supports for these. Have only needed to stop dangerously high winds once.

I am fine with rotated controls. Poisonous pipeline trained me early enough in life I can deal with that crap for a little bit.

Worst things about WoL:

1) Floor Hazards because the enemy is always immune to them and it's just silly
2) "Hostile Assist Trophies"

these are great.

fun fact: you dont need immunity to icy floor as long as you keep jumping upon landing.

I thought it WoL was going to be a short experience, a sort of replace for the old challenges. But every time I think I know the size of the world it just gets bigger.

And I hear classic mode is a treat too and I have yet to touch it.

WoL is really, really good. I'd be stunned if I walk away from this thinking Ultimate has anything less than the best single player Smash experience.

Somewhat related, does anyone know if the spirits you put into the ruins at all affect the time it takes or the loot you get?

Small sample size, but I've gotten more loot sending higher ranked spirits.

I really cant believe how much there is to WoL.

Recent smash games have set the bar so low on single player content. So many great nods to other games/characters(The SMRPG party fight was great, the whole SF area, etc).

And there is somehow still more to it.

Pretty upset that not only does Daisy not have "Hi, I'm daisy" but she doesn't even have a single vocal taunt. What the heck? Why even bother putting Daisy in if you're going to have peach's taunts be more annoying.

Pretty disappointed with all new taunts tbqh. Brawl still has the best ones. Was really hoping chrom would have "pick a god and pray"

They didn't record new voices for a good chunk of the cast. Most of it is recycled.

Now I am stuck playing 4 way 300 HP 3 stock 7 minutes.
aka guaranteed sudden death.

It was torture. There was no point to play so I tried my best to just stay on the ledge and be ignored all game.

They changed the behavior on Lucario's up special at least. At higher % the same motion that used to slightly change direction now causes him to do a full 180 and suicide.

Mind you, they also changed how far his counter travels at higher percents. So when I actually counter with it as edge guard protection, sometimes it works and just sends me all the way to death before I regain control.

It is so demoralizing to actually get a kill with it and then fly all the way to my death before being able to press a button.
