Worked great. It's yet another delivery service, but you can order from anywhere and get anything. It's kinda dangerous lol.

I got pizza from my favorite place, total ended up being about $20 instead of about $13, but it's freaking cold and dark and icey out....best $7 (including tips) I have spent in along time.

I ensured the driver tipped NY Vinnies $2, and then tipped the driver as well, and the whole thing including a double tip, was only $7 more (I always tip $2 so it was about $5 for deliver cost and $2 tip for the driver).

I know $2 might seem small but seriously NY vinnies is about 3 blocks away, just didn't wanna have to get in my car on such a cold/dark/frosty night.

Super stoked though, you can pretty much get anything you want delivered to you now.

TopicWhich side of The Force stronger: Light or Dark?
wolfy42
12/06/18 7:28:29 PM
#20
From my experience playing jedi in many games, and being the highest member of a jedi in a guild on a mud at one point (mud is like an MMO), darkside is generally stronger/more powerful. Light side is generally more defensive, and can actually be easier to start out as (primarily due to more defensive abilities).

It should be mentioned that in many video games and mmo's, power is gained by slaying enemies, this holds true for both light and dark jedi. The primary difference here is that dark jedi usually have more offensive power, which in such games gives them the ability to gain experience or power even faster and out level a light jedi.

Meanwhile vs very hard fights, the light jedi usually shines as pure offense isn't enough quite often.

Neither side is more powerful in and of itself, but they shine in different ways, and even looking at it in a game perspective, you can see that dark jedi would gain power faster. Light jedi, arguable, have more potential (since they will get high damage eventually and MUCH higher defenses).

It varies from game to game of course and games don't translate into a universe that well, but I would say in general dark jedi have more ranged offensive abilities and higher damage over all (about 20%). Meanwhile Light jedi have a large boost to defensive abilities right from the start (almost 50%), and don't damage themselves or wear themselves out nearly as fast as a dark jedi (sustainable offense, while many dark jedi drain themselves using force lightning etc).

If your going pure....dark or light....in most of the campaigns game, I have pretty much always found the dark options more fun as well. Light can be fun, but there are too many jerks that you have to treat nicely if your pure, paladin sindrome, grey of course is the best option but they are rare and not supported in alot of games

First I would buy some land out in the middle of nowhere. I would build a super secure, self sustaining bunker and stock it with the best foods, all the video games, tons of TV shows/moves etc, enough to last for 50 years +.

I would then search the world for about 5 really awesome people whose company I enjoy.

I would move us all into the bunker.

I would live there most of the time, only traveling out occasionally. I would also stock it with many weapons, tons of computers (generators and solar panels etc).

If the world goes to crap i'm set. I would pay people to restock/ship us any new video games and systems that come out, and I would set up my own internet as well (probably satilite) so I could keep abreast of new PC games through steam (and play online if I like).

I can not remember the name of it....but I was sure at the end the boy (after escaping a weird mansion where they are forced to eat meat cubes and I think fight each other or something), writes Dorp Dead on the exit or something.

I did a search for Dorp Dead, but that looks like a totally different book. I don't see mazes of stairs etc anywhere in there, or kids being abducted etc.

Does anyone remember that book at all? I only have very vague memories.

Topic$15,000/a week for one Year or $10,000/month for Life...
wolfy42
12/06/18 1:00:39 AM

So 60k a month for a year, or 10k a month for ever.

That is a net 50k more a month for the first year, or $600k extra cash in the first year.

Things get tricky there, because, in theory, you could use that $600k to make serious money buying and selling homes etc. If you doubled the money 2 years in a row, even after taxes you would have 2mill. Even a safe 5% a year on 2 mill is 100k a year, which is pretty close to 10k a month, and you have 2mill as backup.

So both options really work. It just depends if you are willing to put the effort in. $10k a month will set you up comfortably for life, without any work on your part at all.

honestly you could live fairly well even if you just got base interest off the first option though, it would basically make it about 10 years (after interest was added) before you ran out. And, if you actually used the money in any way to make more, even just doing it in your spare time, you could be way ahead.

And other places, like Amazon, Best Buy etc. Gamestop usually comes close to the same deals as Amazon/Best buy etc, but .....it doesn't change the fact that buying used...doesn't make sense if you can get it new for less, next time there is a sale. It doesn't matter if it's at gamestop or best buy, although......it does matter if it's at Amazon or Steam, or PSN etc, as people can get it from home.

Convienence is important....you have to give incentives or a reason for someone to drive out of their way to buy a game.

Gamestop pretty much has a monopoly on game stores at this point, and there is a ton of potential there. They can not beat the prices/sales and to some degree convienence of things like steam/amazon etc, but what they can do is give a physical location for people to meet who like video games.

They used to be that, there were sign up sheets at gamestops for video game tournaments, some of them had DnD sign up sheets as well etc. People would drop by just to chat about games, at least at the best gamestops.

They had stations set up to try games as well, and would let you try any of them. PSVR for instance is cheap at this point, you could get it for only $200 recently with stuff with it, yet I don't know of one gamestop with a PSVR set up (and you don't even need it hooked to a screen, just the camera set up/connected to a ps4....seriously easy to have people test it).

I mean, done right, gamestop could lead the way into the future of physical games and be the mecca of gamers who still actually communicate with real people. The company has massive potential, but it's stuck in a rut I think. They need to get away from making most of their profit from used games, and start making those used games compete with sales etc, as right now it's just plain silly to buy them half the time.

Also you don't need 3 gamestops within a 5 mile radius, one larger store, that has things like PSVR you can try, and space for tournaments, even a table to play card games etc on, much like board game stores do, will make it convienent to pick up a game there when you are going to meet friends etc anyway. It solves the problem of dealing with digitial/free delivery from amazon etc, if people are already heading to your store anyway.

For instance, in Olympia there are 2 gamestops within 3 blocks of each other, one at the mall, and 1 3 blocks away down cooper point road. I have gone to both, but i don't think it's really neccesary to have two of them so close. Honestly, while you do get decent sales from the mall, I think it would be better to take the much larger amount of money you pay to have a store in the mall, the money they spend on the other store, and get one store at least twice as large (but probably 3 times) for the same price.

Focus on getting the community to come to your store, for reasons besides just buying the games. Ensure you hire people who really love games, and don't pressure them to sell used games etc. Pressure them to help the customer find what they like, and enjoy chatting/talking with the customers about video games, that alone will get many to come into the stores.

So many cool people work for gamestop and have worked for gamestop, and I always wanted to work at a store like that myself, it just didn't pay enough. Perhaps a rich gamer will come along and buy it and make changes, but I do think we really need a gamer store, which hopefully brings gaming communities together around the world. It's too easy to just get lost in the internet and almost never interact with real people anymore.

The simple fact that by the time they are giving any kind of actual discount on used games at all (and not selling it for $5 less then full retail) there is almost always a sale on the new game that is cheaper then the used versions at gamestop.

What?

Lets use Assassin's Creed Odyssey as an example.

It's currently on sale new at gamestop for 59.99 and used for 54.99.

Meanwhile I bought it form Amazon during a sale for $27.

Now they did have it on sale at gamestop as well, but it was more expensive (mid 30's?). Steam had it for 40, and might still. Green man gaming had it for 30 something and I had a coupon to bring it down to within a few dollars of $27 (should have just done that but I had amazon credit).

The thing that is killing gamestops used sales is the very common trend at this point for games to go on sale almost right out of the gate, and to go on serious sale the next time there is a holiday/summer/winter sale etc. Now everyone has them, not just steam. PSN for instance had tons of games on sale recently, Xbox does the same etc. Heck there are even humble bundles etc for PS4 now as well.

Point is, why buy used when you can get a new copy , cheaper usually, within a fairly short period of time, while you still have 240 million other games you already own but have not played or fully played. That, I think, is what's killing gamestop.

I don't generally like mushrooms mixed with my cheese, though I can eat it on a supreme etc.

Never anchovies, if the oil even gets on the pizza, I won't eat it *mega yuck*.

I can......eat.....pinapple and ham, but I don't like it at all and would never order it for myself.

Other then that, most pizza toppings I can eat. I wouldn't do weird ones like gummy bears though, and even other kinds of fish (that are not as oily). Also won't eat a pizza with melted cheddar cheese on it (other then round table as they mix it well enough and it's spicey enough to not make me sick).

Honestly I love the cheese so much the less toppings the better, but, I like the oil from pepporoni mixed with the cheese. So I often order a pepporoni with extra cheese, eat the pepporoni off the top and eat the rest (with the super yum flavor of cheese and pepporoni oil hehe).

Btw.....you are evil for making me want pizza at 11 pm!!

With Amazon and Best Buy who the hell needs them anyway?

Amazon is steadily cutting incentive to buy games and charging more for Prime, and Best Buy did away with Gamer's Club Unlocked entirely. Gamestop is a great place to get used and older games (they're often missing the real case, but nowadays games very rarely come with any extras).

Honestly you don't even need Amazon or Best buys deals (both were 20% before, but are now gone), in order to generally save more money, if you just wait to buy digital. The digital stores have been having pretty drastic sales on quite a few games not long after they are released (and thats for exclusives). Look at assassins creed Odyssy for instance. I am getting it delivered to me for free, for $27 total. It's like......3 months? After it was released...not exactly sure how many but less then 6 for sure. That is less then half the price if I had bought it on release from gamestop etc. I believe the digital version was $30 on psn, and it was the same price on green man gaming. I had amazon credit so I got the ps4 version but honestly I probably should have just spent the extra for the PC version since it's easier to play.

What is really killing gamestop?

The simple fact that by the time they are giving any kind of actual discount on used games at all (and not selling it for $5 less then full retail) there is almost always a sale on the new game that is cheaper then the used versions at gamestop.

What is more, if the game is available on steam (and more and more of them are), you know for a fact if you wait you'll get it for at least 50% off, the question is just will you wait for a 75% sale (which can take a few years) or not.

Honestly i believe it's mostly a response to used game sales, since the game creators were loosing money big time on it, and they realized it. This way they get a large majority of the profits, but......gamestop has banked on used sales for a long time and without them, they are in serious trouble.

I wish the gaming community and specifically the companies making and producing the games would "rescue" gamestop in some way, but allowing them to actual make a profit on new sales, but it's not likely to happen. The only way to really do that is to charge less for games sold at gamestop (so gamestop can make a profit), and that is never going to happen.

I know gamestop gets alot of hate, and I understand some of it, but this is going to affect a ton of people, in a negative way. Tons of employees who are currently working at game stores....won't be. I know there are some at least that are quite cool and really love video games and gamers.

I have lived through the evolution of video games, all of it. I was there when the first mom and pop stores first opened, heck, I put out flyers on cars for them. I get that gamestop is not perfect, but it's a part of gaming history, and I would argue over all it has been a good part of it.

You all might not remember the old days, when gamestop had tournaments, dance dance revolution competions, guitar hero etc. They had parties when games would be released often at midnight. For many, many years many gamestops were run by really cool people who just loved talking about games.

I admit, that many are not like that, in fact I have not used gamestop much in over 5 years specifically because of this. I have told friends who work for gamestop that they really need to bring that back, to get customer loyalty back, as there just is not enough incentive to purchase from gamestop, often at a higher price, then from places like amazon, best buy, or just buying digital. That isn't even taking steam into account and their huge sales.

Honestly, if they had done EVERYTHING right (and I admit they have not), I still think it would be a lost cause. It's just so much easier, for me at least, to play a game on my PC then on a system. Laptops are strong enough to play the best games, and are portable, and can be hooked up to any 4k TV wherever you do, and have better graphics then a console at this point. That leaves console exclusives as your primary reason to even bother with a console, and even there, digital is generally easier (no switching game discs), and with an extrenal drive (not to mention the 1 tera drive from the pro) you can store a ton on your system.

I will be sad to see gamestop go, but having not supported it much in the last 5 years or so, I can not complain, as it's partially my fault. I could have fought for the store, I could have gone in and told them what they needed to do, or even tried to set up some kinda community gamers organization that revolved around it. I do think it will be sad when there is no more game centered stores, but I also think it is sadly destined to happen.

Especially with digital versions now, there is no reason not to have it so when you buy a game, you buy it for all platforms.

Sony did that to some degree with the portable system and ps3 etc. No real reason not to make it work for all future systems at this point.

It's yet another reason buying games on PC is usually my first choice (if there are options) since I know I'll always be able to play it...on one system. Heck I often rebuy games I own on systems on the PC when it comes out, just because it's easier to play on my pc, it's portable (a laptop) and online/multiplayer is free.

Don't worry Zeus, I looked at it as well and then I did a serious look at the games (that are not available on steam or Ps4). I do already own Zelda on my Wii U, and I have also already finished/played Super Mario Odyessy.

That left Octotraveler, and Xenosaga 2 (but I have not played the first 2 Xeno games for the Wii and Wii U even though I own them).

The conclusion I came to was there just was no games I really wanted to play on the switch. Certainly nothing worth spending over $300 for.

So yeah, it's a good deal, but it's a good deal for a system that STILL doesn't really have anything I'm dying to play. Even if it does get something, I have friends with a switch, so I could just play say...octopathtraveler or whatever it's called at their home probably.

Just not worth it.

Yeah, if you don't mind staying at an interior room (it's not that bad), it can be crazy cheap.

I want a balcony though, so getting it for less then $100 a day isn't gonna happen, but it's the only way to get fresh air (the view is nice as well).

Even $100 a day though is pretty freaking cheap compared to a hotel, and you go to many ports and you get tons of food. The buffet isn't that great even on the better ships (I've only gone on Royal Carribean so far), but the downstairs dining (still free, just not the specialty places) is quite good and you can still eat all you want (just only a few choices per night).

With deals like they have today though it gets crazy since many are giving the second guest free (the greek cruises are totally free for the second person, but it leaves and returns from athens so you need to get there). Others are doing free air fair, free wifi, $150 + onboard credit (can use that for specialty dining, excursions etc), straight discounts per person etc.

I saw a few for like $40 a night per person (interior though) to mexico from Cali (12 days). I mean that is freaking insanely cheap.

The 3rd and 4th person is always very cheap (about 1/4th the base price or so), so 60% off the second person can end up saving a very large amount.

It also means your only paying 140% of the amount you would if you traveled with someone else, even if solo. At least I would imagine that is the case (have not tested it out). Usually you pay for double occupancy anyway....so in this case if it's normally $120 a night per person (or $240 total if solo), it would only be $168 a night solo (and you don't end up paying taxes/fees etc actually...so it would probably be like $150.

$150 isn't that horrid of a deal even traveling with someone (that is for a balcony room btw). That is the price for a 10 day trip to Hawaii from Royal Carribean leaving sept 10th 2019 btw.

Long story short, if you plan on going on a cruise anytime soon, or have always wanted to, but don't have someone to go with etc.....now is the itme to book one. The other sites are giving discounts per person, but some are large enough to be just about as good as royal Carribean (saw one 11 day cruise with $600 off per person, which is about $50 a day per person. Again if you would normally pay $150 a night with 2 people, you would then end up paying $200 a night for just you ($50 extra), or less.

At least with cans there is evidence of how much I have had.

Bah, if you used a rail system and bus system for 90% of traveling, there would be no rush hour traffic and you would get everywhere faster. No need to look around for parking spaces etc.

1 bus can have 50-100 people on it. It's about the size of 2 cars (since they need space between them) which usually would have 1 or possibly 2 people in it.

You could have enough buses going around for people to catch them every 2 minutes but it would be better to have express buses etc that don't stop between point A and B as well as normal buses that do.

So if you need to get to the other side of town, you can take a bus that goes straight there. You can even do so and then take another buss that leaves from there and goes 8 blocks away (but stops at many points). This could save you like 15-20 minutes travel and you would basically get there as fast as driving.

And thats without even factoring in train/light rail etc systems as well.

Honestly you could easily set up a system for any city that would enable people to get from point A to point B about as fast as driving, without needing a car at all. Short trips would use the bus that stops every block or two, long trips would use an express bus and possibly a transfer to a slow one. Really long trips would use a light rail system to a bus.

All public transportation would be so cheap everyone would just buy passes. A full pass (any bus/light rail etc) would be something like $40 a month. Way cheaper then gas, insurance, registration, repairs, parking etc.

And if everyone was using it, it would be more then enough to keep the system going. Each bus/train would carry a few thousand people a day easily, which means at 40$ a month, that is a few thousand dollars per month profit (even after gas/wages/repairs).

And that doesn't even start to touch on other forms of transportation like bicycles/scooters and the possibility of adding those to the pass as well (bikes available for people to use, and drop of at another station all over, and scooters as well, with the same setup).

There is absolutely no reason to have the system we do now.

We are WAY past the point where upgrading our public transportation should have been a priority. In fact, instead of solving the problem with better public transportation things like Uber etc have filled the gaps, but still basically mean cars on the road.

It shouldn't be that hard for a person to get just about anywhere in the US at this point with public transportation. High speed trains from each major city to another should be the norm, with options between taking a train with stops (but takes longer of course) or taking a non-stop train that gets there faster then you could drive.

Meanwhile the bus system should have been drastically upgraded and supported, instead of spending so much money on making it possible for more and more cars to drive everywhere. You should be able to catch a bus just about anywhere in a populated area within 10 minutes, and the cost to ride buses/trains etc should be drastically reduced. It should not be a for profit situation, but again, should be like our roads, taxed enough to pay for it all, so everyone can get around easily.

Add in easily used lanes for scooters and bicycles (max 15 mph), to allow people to easily get around in cities etc, and the number of cars needed, let alone actually being used on a regular basis would plumit.

But that would hut the auto industry which has tons of money and so it will never happen. Even though it would be better for everyone, the environment, cost less money, and drastically reduce deaths each year.

So yeah...forget about having people retake the test, focus on making them NOT NEED TO DRIVE!

I'd wait for more to be added. Played with friends some and solo, both have advantages and disadvantages but in both cases, even fallout 4 was better. The main thing I got from playing the game was a desire to replay Fallout NV (or Fallout 3).

I put it on the side for now and will come back later, maybe more will be added etc by then. Too many other things that are more fun to play right now.

Shrug, first thing I have eaten in 3 days that didn't give me an upset stomach afterwards lol...including things as simple as english muffins....so .....pizza is magic.

As far as the rest shrug, could just be a pinched nerve or something. I'm gonna wait it out, it's not that bad, and if it gets worse I'll go to urgent care.

At first it was just at my lower right back, and I thought my back was just acting up, but it felt different then before, and wasn't only when I got up (still hurt when lying on myside), so I thought maybe I had a kidney stone (my wife used to get them alot and I have diabetes now).

Drank alot of water ate healthy and waited for it to get better. Didn't even get to go spend time with my friends on T-day.

Yesterday and more today though, the pain now is in my right leg as well, and upper right side. I don't do hospitals, so i'm pretty much just waiting for it to get better or worse. It is quite annoying but not so painful I can't sleep (and that is basically all I care about).

So the decision I have to make now is simple. Should I eat healthy soups etc at home, play some video games or watch shows and be good....but feel blah over all.

Or should I go get a NY vinnies pizza which will make me happy, but I might feel really bad after eating it (oh yeah, been having a hard time keeping food down as well).

I know...I probably should just be good, but I love pizza and having some would make me happy. I kinda really want some......grrrrrr.

But I probably should be good. Why are the best things in life bad for you?
