Has Smash-related strength ever been that fickle? Even Snake boost was one single character becoming Nintendo and then being strong all contest. It wasn't a day-to-day thing. Heck, we have been in Smash hype for months now.

Yes Again Snake boosted from being an embarrassment to the n9 to BEATING SEPHIROTH based on a TRAILER But that was him suddenly becomeing part of a fanbase he wasn't part of before. Nintendo fans shouldn't change their opinions on Samus all of a sudden based on a game they played 4 times before. Not to this degree.

This is basically the same thing happening I would wager. Yes but he practically tied with Zelda in the direct match. Does playing a Smash game instead of just watching trailers changes people's opinions too much? Like, they turned the Switch on and immediately spent hours maining Samus and Zelda while ignoring Snake?

Before the match I had this notion that we had 5 characters kind of tied at #2 (Mario, Zelda, Snake, Samus and Cloud). They could beat each other in different orders but the stats were so close you could easily attribute it to SFF and rSFF. Now Samus is beating Snake by nearly 57%. She's one or two tiers above him. What explains this? Pic factor? But if not even Solid Shit could kill Snake does this (admitely bad) pic do such a big difference? Zelda bandwagon? Would put Zelda at Snake's level and mario/Samus above. But have we ever had bandwagons grow so fast? Insane rSFF between Mario and Samus? Like Samus is actually a tier above everyone else but when she faces Mario she folds like paper? Look, I believe in herarchy, but even then, hierarchy hasn't been THAT strong with the other characters. What gives?

Between TP (2006) and LBW (2013), the series just had its weakest sequence of games ever. Now I haven't played any of them myself, but I know most people hate Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, and the reception to Skyward Sword was lukewarm at best. In 2013 I even picked Mario to win the contest in my bracket, because I thought the Zelda series had fallen out of favor and Mario was the more stable character. Now not only that didn't work out (thanks Vivi!) but Link then went to nearly beat Draven, with rallies and everything. Even with a 7 year streak of bad games. And now he has LBW, Hyrule Warriors and BotW. Yeah good luck to anyone deaming of beating Link. You say 5 CDi games? It's more like it would take the entire gamefaqs userbase to die of old age and a new generation of users who were forbidden from playing Zelda to make it happen.

She blows The Boss out and we start calling for a MGS deboost. She beats Squall hard and we start saying it's Squall who depowered because of KH deboost. She beats Aeris by less than Squall and we are sure of it. She beats Snake and now we start saying Snake isn't close to #2 anymore. She and Snake destroy Sonic and we start saying Sonic would lose to the likes of Alucard. Turns out Snake is still close to #2, Squall is still near-elite, Aeris is legit, The Boss actually depowered less than other MGS characters, Ezio is still alright, Sonic probably still beats most non-N9 competition.... and Zelda is a fucking goddess.
