The way double-elim usually works is that to avoid rematches, losing in the Winners bracket doesn't necessarily send you to the corresponding place in the Losers bracket. For example, I have Mega Man vs. Pikachu and Crono vs. Kirby happening twice, which could be avoided by just swapping around the characters who get sent to Losers round 2. Surely we would want would want to avoid rematches like this, right? I can hardly imagine popularity contest rematches being interesting to watch, unless the matches were stupidly close to begin with or some god-forsaken rally drama happens. If Mega Man gets 55% on Pika one day he's not going to lose the next. I think making the later stages of the tournament last longer is a great idea (or one that prolongs our suffering, I guess), but I would like to see us get even more high-level matchups by structuring the Losers bracket better. I think the rematches could be interesting. The bigger issue is... how the "winner" in winner's bracket does not get a 2nd chance if they lose the "final match". It's double-elimination, but not for the last match. Does not seem fair. Like if Link loses the final match he doesn't get a 2nd chance to win the title. --- Raytan wins!

I think, at that exact moment in time(December 2011), people had begun to have serious respect for the Pokemon series. It was before Pokemon Go(2016) mainstreamed the HELL out of the series, but after the period when everyone was playing the cards during lunch at school(1998-2000 I'd say). About... 10 years after that craze period, voters on the site really changed their sentiment and begun to think about the craze in general, from a larger perspective. They begun to see the originality, the creativity, the brilliance of the Pokemon series that they were not able to perceive when they(we) were younger. --- Raytan wins!

Never would have played Symphony of the Night or Chrono Trigger without the 2002 contest, for instance. I never got into Starcraft until it beat Wind Waker. To this day, Starcraft continues to consume my life, for thousands of hours and counting. The amount of games/series I've come to like through GameFAQs/Board 8 is crazy * Tales series with Symphonia, now one of my all time favs And these are just the ones that have been in a contest in some way Same, I found out about Tales of Symphonia through GameFaqs back in 2004. What an incredible game that was. Also, the Undertale rally in 2015 inspired me to play it later in 2016. Great game, just a great game. Also ended up cosplaying Alphys(Undertale) later even lol. --- Raytan wins!
