On another note, what is the typical percentage to claim a piece of the pie from the various tribes? Former co-worker of mine said his grandmother was part Native American and he took a DNA test to see if he has enough to make a claim. I've read said tribes are fairly strict on who they share with and it also requires showing additional proof linking you with said tribes.

i think five guys is overall better tasting but $15 for a burger, fries and a drink is fucking ridiculous so my vote goes to in-n-out.

More or less my thoughts. Same goes for Shack Shake. I think their burgers are overall better but at the price I'm paying, I can probably get twice the amount with In-N-Out. There comes a point where the burger is good enough for me and I feel In-N-Out is at that threshold without going further and charging us for it.

I'm also going to blame the cook who thinks he's a part-owner.

Depending on the restaurant and the quality, don't the head chef usually have some pull? Of course not to the degree of being "part-owner" but I would assume some influence. Granted I assume this only applies to high end restaurants and not something like BJs, Yardhouse, or other mid/lower end restaurants.

BADoglick posted...
Most companies won't allow their servers to say anything to campers. Honestly it's one of the rudest things you can do. People always say 'well I paid and they're getting paid so tough', but fact is that they're not getting paid anymore. When a waiter gets a paycheck it's taxed until it reads 0.00

Kinda confused by this. If a restaurant is closed to customers at 10pm and workers stay another hour for the late comers and then maybe another hour to cleanup and finally leave at 12am. Regardless of when they leave they're only paid for their shift unless they get OT?

In this case shouldn't the restaurant either A) adjust shifts to account for late arrivals and the actual time the restaurant is close close or B) stop accepting new customers X minutes before the public closing time?

Mead posted...
The owner thinks he should be running the place

I read Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential and I vaguely recall him writing about the different type of owners. One in particular are the owners who know little to nothing about running a business or restaurant and simply just writing the checks to so speak. In some cases this is fine because said owner leaves the managing to the manager/head chef while in some the owner tries to take control and the inexperience kills the restaurant.

I think that's what Wal-Mart and Amazon have been doing after too many people started abusing their return policies. Wal-Mart might still be on the more lenient side but I think some customers have been banned from Amazon if they have a history.

REI itself use to be very lenient with their returns and had no time limit. Unfortunately they probably got taken advantage of and now they put a one year limit on return which is still really good. I had a pair of $200 hiking boots that they offered a new pair for when one of the straps broke and it wasn't something that can be fixed despite me just wanting it to be fixed. I actually felt guilty being given a new pair of boots despite putting 200 some miles already on the previous pair.

Live action video game cutscenes doesn't seem that common nowadays given the need to pay the actors/actresses, find a set, obtain the equipment, etc. I can only assume it's easier and/or cheaper to just use CGI cutscenes. Still, I do find live action video game cutscenes to have a certain charm to them.

The Command & Conquer and Red & Alert series are the first to come to mind for me in regards to live action cutscenes. Hell, I recall Command 3 had quite the line-up of actors/actresses from various sci-fi series. A few Star Wars games had them too.

My personally favorites that I always remembered was Maniac getting promoted in Wing Commander: Prophecy

And Kane introducing himself in the first Command & Conquer.

What is/are your favorite live action video game cutscene(s)?

Yowza. At the very least the diagnosis fee should be known beforehand since the quote for the fix/service usually can't be given till afterwards. I've been fortunate that the mom-n-pop shops I go to have been trustworthy. The only one I was a little hesitant on was one that my AAA roadside assistant driver recommended and it was far enough away that I would have to Uber over to/from.

Still, it was an AAA certified shop and they gave me a discount for being a AAA member. The charge for replacing the alternator was in-line with what I would expect and they offered to pay for my Uber ride. Funny enough, this shop also had a one star review for charging for diagnosis. I had to sign a form before they performed the diagnosis that I understood there would be a fee if they don't perform the fix/service.

I vaguely recall a discussion about that. Dunno when but I have started to notice signs at mom-n-pop shops stating the diagnosis fee is only waived if they perform the fix/service. Personally I feel that is reasonable since it still takes time to perform the diagnosis. If said service is able to offer free assessments (i.e. some contractors), perhaps they make enough in the long run to make up for it. So long as it is known before the diagnosis starts, I think it is fair game.

I don't hate but am bothered by the behavior of some Chinese among my community. Granted my sister and I briefly talked about this and she made a point out that isn't necessarily those among our community that bothers me, it's rude people in general that bothers me.

Funny enough, I was at a blood drawing station recently and out of a room of a dozen Asians (probably Chinese), two were Mexicans. I couldn't help but overhear (yes I know that is rude too) one talking over the phone and she mentioned how everyone was rude cause she sneezed and no one said "bless you".

Part of me felt a little guilt and wondered if I simply wasn't in the room or didn't year. At the same time I'm telling myself she's also making the assumption that everyone has the same etiquette as her.

I do find it a little weird that I can't feel proud by association unless I contributed to something but I do feel some guilt by association despite doing no wrong.

To me your gender shouldn't be an excuse for why you can or can't do something. If a woman owns a house but doesn't own a tool box or know how to do basic maintenance I basically ask them "What the f*** is wrong with you, why do you own a house?" similar to what I would do with a man.

Maybe not as harsh but I can agree with you. Certain skills I feel should be "basic skills" that the average man/woman should know such as basic first aid, cooking, changing flat tire on a car, simply household maintenance, sewing, etc. One doesn't have to be an expect, just not be ignorant about it.

Kinda related but as a teenager my sister did not know how to shut off the toilet tank main. I was baffled until I realize my father simply never taught her. It's so simple and could mean not getting a flooded bathroom if something goes wrong.

On another note one of my female friends once had to help a guy jump start his car cause he didn't know how to use jumper cables and she jokingly posted on Facebook about him giving up his "man card". I'd admit certain things I was ignorant of at various points in my life but like your comment about owning a house, if you drive a car, you should know basic car stuff as well. I recall another friend once posted on Facebook asking for help with a flat tire and people responding asking either where she is at and if she has roadside assistance. He baffled me that she didn't know how to change a flat tire AND didn't have roadside assistance. If you end up in a sketchy neighborhood, sometimes one cannot afford to wait for help.

On a completely unrelated note, would you feel such propositions are a waste of money if they serve more to ease the guilt of consumers and pointless if the cost needed to make a difference is unrealistic to be spent? I still eat meat and am not trying to dissuade others from doing so. After looking through the upcoming California propositions I'm surprised to see one related to animals.

https://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_12,_Farm_Animal_Confinement_Initiative_(2018)

To my understanding the definition of free range and other lingo related to the living conditions of animals might vary or be vague depending on who you ask. At a glance it seems this proposition is trying to narrow down how animals are treated but in my opinion stating that animals cannot be confined in a cruel manner might still be kinda vague.

Personally I feel there could be a balance between how they're treated and the cost of production. I'm willing to stomach, no pun intended, the extra cost if it means Babe and friends are better treated before meeting their makers. Of course what that balance is might be beyond me.

What are your thoughts on the treatment of animals before going to the slaughterhouse?

Comments and opinions are appreciated,

You can't look at audience scores. Critic scores are what matter, it's literally their jobs to talk about movies. Audiences are so easily amused too, listen to the critics.

Personally I trust the audiences score more so than the critic especially if it is some action superhero movie. I'm not looking for some movie with a deep plot or a story that makes me question reality and whatnot. There are times I feel the critics ask for too much from a movie when that movie isn't meant to give those things. Kinda how I view Metacritic. I tend to trust the players more than the professional reviewers.

Donny "MOTHERFUCKING" Yen!

Bloody hell. I recently watched Blade and Blade 2 again on Netflix and didn't realize that's Donnie Yen. Granted it wasn't until till Hero, and his his Ip Man and Detective Dee movies that I was more formerly introduced to him. They coulda given him at least one line in the Blade 2 movie instead of that hand motion.

Completely forgot that was Norman Reedus playing Scud in Blade 2. Couldn't connect him with Daryl in The Walking Dead for a few minutes.

I find it neat and sometimes a little weird to see the works of actors/actresses whose names/faces I actually remember now.

Vampires that want to turn everyone into vampires are the trump supporters of vampirism.

Not exactly what you meant but the movie, Daybreaker, was actually interesting. Basically entire world is filled with vampires and what few humans are left are being "milked" for their blood. Drinks have blood mixed in (i.e. coffee, wine, etc.) and even the industry offer products for vampires (i.e. cars with shade covers and video cameras for day driving). Ethan Hawke is the lead and for some reason makes me think of a twisted Gattaca.

I'm still shocked that 89% of the audience like this movie.

Different strokes for different folks.

Nice. I don't listen to Elton John in particular but what music I have, I do enjoy. The only artist I probably want to see live is Weird Al Yankovic. At 58 years old, hopefully that is young enough that he doesn't retire anytime soon. How did Elton John sounded live? About the same? Given the vocal cord is a muscle, singing seems to be one of those things that over the years one would notice a difference in what the artist can or cannot do anymore.

You wouldn't, and that's how you create a super-villain.

Fair point. I think in the The Flash: Flashpoint movie, Superman for example landed in the city and instead of being taken care of by good and loving parents, he's imprisoned by the government and studied. Upon rescued he was completely traumatized and though still physically capable of beating anyone to a pulp, he mentally couldn't for a while.

If the behavior of various youth and adults of our society based on their upbringing is any indication, being taken and molded into a living weapon and/or treated as an outcast will more than likely cause more trouble than harm.

Assuming said person was discovered at a young enough age, I'd imagine said child would be taken and molded into a living weapon.
