Yeah, he just calls it 'Cultural Marxism' instead.

Six or seven years ago when use of the term was confined to basement dregs, this claim might have held water, but it has since entered mainstream terminology on the right while stripping itself of the old baggage and implications with respect to those using it, except among those who see everything as a dog whistle.

Jordan Peterson most certainly is playing to his audience, though the main reason for this perception is the alt-right's clear support of him in lieu of any other authority figure.

The alt-right despises Peterson (and Shapiro). The former for refusing to buy into their antisemitism, the latter because they're antisemitic (and because he is opposed to biological essentialism with respect to the question of nationalism).

Shapiro is a neocon, basically making him the antithesis of any kind of "alternative" right-wing ideologue. He's just managed to make the rightfully disgraced school of thought relevant to a new generation.

Peterson is arguably more in line with the insurgent right since some of his beliefs are a hop and a skip away from NRx, but he's also rather liberal, both socially and politically, even if it pales in comparison to the present state of the left.

The progenitors of the "It's OK to be white" sign made it clear it was supposed to be posted anonymously, with nothing attached. The agenda was to rile up the "deconstruct whiteness" types and nothing more, but I suppose it was ripe for just that.

Patrick Little's reparations plan was amusing but he and other Neo Nazis really need to **** off.

Oh. Well that's not as interesting as I thought.

That it's at the intersection of game theory, economics, cryptography, and systems engineering is what makes it most interesting.

From a pure cryptographic standpoint, it doesn't seem to bring much that is new to the table. Then again, the ins and outs of cryptography aren't my strong point.

Its almost like it was an elaborate scheme to get the early investors rich. Got a bunch of new unknown worthless shit? Tell people its valuable and theyll start buying it

Tell that to migrants fleeing corrupt and wartorn countries with their life savings intact.

Everything is intrinsically worthless without demand and practical utility.

The intent was to create a reliable medium of exchange that couldn't be controlled or otherwise manipulated by a central entity, and with respect to that it's doing a decent job.

Most every technology and trend tends to reward early adopters that assume risk - in this case, in the form of time and effort spent developing and proliferating the technology, and money spent on infrastructure to support it. In that regard, it has probably been the lowest risk highest reward investment in history.

what

the fuck

is blockchain

A hashed linkedlist, each node ("block") corresponding to a subsequent timeframe and containing a hash tree with transactions which have occurred in that timeframe.

In general, the hash for each block is of a certain "difficulty" - that is to say, containing a nonce in their data such that the hash has a certain number of leading zeros.

The computational complexity of computing these hashes in conjunction with the fact that everything can be cryptographically verified means the "ledger" blockchains represent are in theory resistant to tampering, granted the amount of legitimate computing power exceeds the amount of illegitimate computing power.

In public networks - which is what they were engineered for - this also secures the chains against fraudulent forks containing transactions which may contradict the state conveyed by the main / legitimate chain.

In "proof-of-work" cryptocurrencies, most notably Bitcoin, "miners" (users that compute these hashes) are awarded "coin" for computing these hashes, and for confirming transactions in the network, which they may then transfer to others and use as fees for others to confirm transactions, depending on whoever "mined" the last block.

This system is rather convoluted for any sort of enterprise application, and it's genuinely a waste of time for businesses and other closed organizations. For business-to-business and other sorts of transactions between parties that do not trust each other completely, perhaps it's applicable.

I find it astounding that there are people who believe the psychopaths in politics can be trusted to rein in the activities of psychopaths in big business, who also happen to fund their election campaigns.

The only way to "fix" capitalism is to level the playing field. This might make folks' heads explode, but the only way to level that playing field is to eliminate the legislative red tape that has made the playing field so lopsided to begin with.

Once upon a time, just about every bit of legislation that constitutes our deeply flawed tax and regulatory codes were introduced as progressive "reforms" to address perceived economic deficiencies and to fund programs and subsidize desirable activities. In the end, it's created a legal cesspool that only those with access to highly competent legal teams can get ahead in, killing off potential competition that would have reduced prices and offered more favorable employment terms.

We offer programs to help ends meet - which is great, except that it means these large businesses can pay rock bottom wages knowing taxpayers will pay the difference.

We mandate a minimum wage - which is great, except it means that young employees can't negotiate lower to get a foot in the door for experience, small businesses can't afford to hire, and saturated labor markets are free to discriminate in creative ways. It is no surprise that real minimum wage hikes have always correlated with racial inequality with respect to unemployment.

Just about wherever the government attempts to remedy problems in the economy, it backfires. Don't even get me started on the monetary system.

The worst part is that economic illiterates want more of this legislation.
