It's basically Somerset history. It was quite interesting. Showed some pretty ancient stuff, like a ground mosaic probably from Roman times or something, as well as stuff on churches and other buildings (I think). The best part was this one room, which had a bunch of random quotes about Somerset and other stuff from people who live / lived in Somerset.

It wasn't bad. I did feel slightly guilty though, because the recommend fee (lulz) was 3 per adult, and I paid nothing. I might've paid if I had real people money, but I'm very poor.

Do you find museums interesting, or not?

Sad. But sounds about right for modern games, especially aimed at casual gamers.

It's strange. I didn't realise this before today. I mean, all those war films I've seen, showing big clashes between Allied and Axis soldiers in France, Belgium, or wherever, they made me think that the ground fighting in most of Europe lasted 6 years. I guess those films were pretty much all set in 1944 and 1945.

You know, Sahara is a really good war film that often gets overlooked. The remake, not the original version.

I always thought that the ground fighting in Europe pretty much went on for 6 whole years. Now, if I understand things correctly, because of the surging of Germany forces in 1940, and how it wasn't until 1944 that the D-Day landings happened, there was really only fighting for a few years, with a 4 year gap (roughly) in the middle. I mean, there was the Russian fighting, i.e. the Eastern Front, and I suppose the fighting with the Japanese, but I think most of Europe was just naval and air fighting. Is this accurate? If it is, I NEVER knew this before, despite knowing quite a lot about the war. Or have I got this completely wrong?

Thank you Hicks, BW, and DevsBros for your responses. This is interesting, although after speaking to just 3 Christians, I'm already getting contradictory answers. Hicks, why are you so angry about religion? You seem pretty angry at (or at least disdainful of) Jews. Why? BW, what is this Red Thread? I've never even heard of it, but you talk as if I should.

This is all quite helpful. But yeah, everyone interprets religions in their own different ways. It's a shame that holy books seem a bit vague in places, and sometimes appear to contradict themselves. More explicit instructions from God would've no doubt prevented a lot of suffering for humans, over thousands of years. Although, humans are often responsible for their own suffering. Perhaps humanism is the way to go.

For 11, isn't the 1st Commandment considered more important than the other 9? It seems to be said repeatedly in the Bible, plus, you could argue that it's 1st for a reason.

For question 6, so you aren't a young earth creationist, despite taking most, if not all, of the Bible literally? I think that's a contradiction.

Thank you DevsBro, that was really interesting. I thought your answers to 2 and 7 were quite illuminating. With regards to 6, your answer would seem to indicate that the Bible is almost entirely literal. Do you believe the Earth is only about 6,000 years old, then, despite science saying a number of ways that this isn't the case? Also, what about things like the Great Flood and Noah, and the presumably very limited genetic pool of Adam and Eve?

Well, in theory, the Bible is meant to be timeless. I mean: it's meant to apply to the then distant future as well as the time it was written, by conveying universal truths and morality. I'm not sure if it actually does, though.

Also, what is this religion board? Is it one of the private boards?

I've observed that side-scrolling fighters tend to have a small set of moves for each character, maybe 3 - 10 (sorry, Guile), and although they took quite a lot of skill to pull off, there isn't tons to remember, and they tend to be very different and quite creative moves.

With 3D fighters, the characters often have dozens and dozens of moves, although they're usually easy to pull of if remembered. The moves, however, tend to be very similar, and look the "fanciness" of moves from the other type of fighter, in the sense you don't get things like fireballs, or moves that would be close to physically impossible.

Basically, I think that side-scrolling fighters, e.g. Street Fighter, have the better approach. Remembering dozens of moves for 15+ characters in a game is extremely hard, and when the moves are such small and subtle variations on each other, there seems little point. I mean, I expect that quite a lot of purist fighting fans (if they still exist, outside Japan) prefer the 3D games, but I dunno. I remember spending quite a while trying to get good at VF3TB, and failing, and not always having much fun, either. I've done better with DOA and Soul Calibur, but the sheer number of moves to remember, and how they seem so similar, makes those games (perhaps) less appealing than MK or SF. I've still had quite a lot of fun with them, though, especially playing Soul Calibur 1.

I've been thinking the religion recently, and reading a Bible, and there's still stuff I don't understand.

1. If Jesus was so important to the human race, why did God wait through 4,000 years of written history to send Him to us?

2. Also, if Jesus is the most important person in the Bible, why is only about a four fifths (roughly) of the book about Him?

3. Why is being LGBT so bad, "an abomination"? Or at least, the three letters of it.

4. Why is the book so repetitive? It feels like many of the books within it are talking about how people have turned away from God, or aren't worshipping him the right way?

5. Why is being rich bad? The Bible acts like all rich people don't have any spiritual values, but presumably there are some in this world (sadly, I myself am not rich, quite the opposite).

6. Which parts am I meant to take literally, and which not? Stuff like (for example) the whale swallowing up Jonah and then Jonah escaping would seem to be scientifically impossible, but of course, one might argue that with God's supernatural powers, it could've happened.

7. How should I weight the OT and the NT against each other? The concensus amongst Christians seems to be to give more credence and importance to the NT than the OT, but is this the right attitude, and if so, how much more credence and importance should be given?

8. Am I really expected to believe the Earth is only about 6,000 years old?

9. Why do Christians (read: Western Christians) feel that they can pick and choose from the Bible?

10. Why are some of the books so short, and so long? Is significance attached to this, or is it just the way they ended up?

11. Are the 10 Commandments weighted, or not, and if yes, than which are the more important and less important ones?

12. Why does the Bible seem to have no real problem with slavery, despite the fact that in the modern way, ownership of humans is considered terrible, and is almost entirely illegal?

Thinking all this, though, I'm starting to wonder if I'm being very old-fashioned, dare I say it, even backwards. I mean, I'd definitely rather have a physical copy than a digital one, but perhaps it's stupid generally making me not buy a game for that reason (although the situation hardly ever arises).
