I for one do NOT support any games made solely to make money that are rip-offs of other games or use outsourced labor when they should be in-house only, killing thousands of jobs domestically in the USA. Why? Because all it does is add fuel to the fire.

We HAVE to be over-critical about games, because if we aren't, then several people will fall into the "money trap" and regret it later once they've emptied their bank account on online micro-transactions plus subscription fees, as well as carrier data usage fees for mobile games. Once you buy a game that's digital only, there's no way you can get a refund if the game stinks and you hate it, because microtransactions in most games are non-refundable.

Great post. The "phones" line was a nice representation of Blizzard and practically every other big Western game company's attitude towards gamers. They don't give a fuck about gamers. They want their money and that's all there is to it anymore.

People are less critical of modern games than they should be. With some rare exceptions from Japan, Poland or the indie scene, modern gaming is nothing but zero-risk rehashes with insane budgets - amounts of money with which a decent studio could make 5 different original games. A total waste.

I am "on the opposite side of politics," and obviously I agree with the statement. Voting is no laughing matter, and it should be a right given only to those who have sufficiently contributed to the country in question. Well, this contest has got a bit of a twist. Now it's about guessing the Nintendo tiers. For example, Aeris beat Waluigi and Fox. But she'll get smoked by Zelda.

But today's results make the whole thing just sad. Vivi beat Mario a few years ago, and is now losing to a much less popular Nintendo character. Zero losing to Pikachu, particularly when pokemon are not doing that well this time around (Bowser beat Charizard by a lot, Tifa beat Mewtwo by a lot), shows that almost everything non-Nintendo has fallen off a cliff.

I liked it as a whole. But the message is not something I can agree with. "Going underground" because society is fucked up? If you wrap yourself in a bubble and e.g. play video games all day, is that a solution? No. You do not live for yourself. You didn't appear out of thin air. There are millennia of history that led up to you. You must play your role in that history and work to provide a better society for your children and their children, and so on.
