I guess this is true if you don't already have a Switch (or Wii U or other console with retro games), but if you already had the console, you're paying much less than you would for the originals.

Some are slightly sped up. Others have like a second or two chopped off. Like they were trying to fit under some kind of self-imposed limit or something.

Fire Emblem ones are kinda separate based on character. Awakening characters have a snippet of Id (Purpose), except for Chrom, although I think that's actually an oversight they might patch. Corrin has a snippet of Lost In Thoughts All Alone.

He's not an elected official.

He doesn't currently have any major work going on, to my knowledge.

Sure he was a darling to most left-leaning people and has a passion for science that made it attractive, but he's kinda just been "there" for the past couple of years. He'll probably not be "there" for a short while, will at least try to come back, and then either be told he can't, or be forgiven.

Like I said, I don't think "childishness" is inherently a bad thing. KH1 is a very whimsical and silly game, but that's what is great about it.

The thing is I feel that it stands in stark contrast to Organization XIII and the complicated nature of the overriding plot. Series can't quite agree on a tone.

Still, 20-30 characters in that method is fine. I'm sure we won't get the full roster on Friday anyway, and once I bring it home, I'm going to deep dive into WoL and get everyone else that way.

Come to think of it, if "total distance traveled" means total player character movement during fights, then doing 8P smashes (as I intend during the party) should get that number up in a jiffy.

I too would prefer more creativity than just grinding out matches. That being said, Smash is still one of the main reasons I am seriously considering purchasing a switch.

Going by what eventhubs is saying, there are three methods for unlocking characters.

1) Grinding out versus matches, one unlock every ten minutes (unless you close the software and open it back up, then the timer goes to zero).
2) Playing Classic Mode. Apparently who you play as determines who you unlock at the end.
3) Playing World of Light. As you go through it, you'll run into characters and unlock them both in WoL and in the main roster.

Play a versus match (quick one stock at lowest difficulty)

Close software

I imagine this won't take more than three minutes per character, if that. Unlocking 66 characters means 198 minutes, means a little over three hours for everyone.

I'm staring down a time crunch simply because I'm going to set the game up at work on Friday afternoon during the office holiday party. I'm also kind of expected to actually work that morning, so my plan is to wake up around 4AM and unlock maybe twenty characters or so before I have to start work. 28 with more on the way during the party. Given that I'm by far the most dedicated Smash player in the group of people playing, I don't think people will be dissatisfied.

Except maybe the people who have to play with a single joycon because I have a Pro and 4 GCN controllers and that's it for the quality stuff. >_>
