I would argue that Ezio had quite a few good reasons to drop off since 2010, but I do agree that Zelda had her division on lockdown after that match regardless.

I think the next most obvious ones I would point to are Falco, Midna, Ridley, Proto Man, and Marth, all decent or decent-ish Nintendo/Nintendo-adjacent characters who squeaked past the 2010 vote-ins. Raiden, Lightning (not at the time, because her game hadn't come out yet), Assassin's Creed II (certainly performed like a 16-seed, but it should have been higher based on other metrics), Phoenix Wright (based on the character's huge nomination support every character battle), Rosalina, and Wesker are the other 16-seeds who look off as 16-seeds to me.

Yeah, I already know to use the classic editor for editing existing pages, what I bolded is the problem. I can't figure out how to make the wiki use it for creating new pages. Thank you, anyways!

Done. And a very dumb question I have for you or anyone else who's willing to help me out: how do you create a new page on the B8 Wiki? The only thing I've seen is that 'Special:Create page' link (under 'add') where I type in my page's planned name. Afterwards, it takes me to a page with a 'loading' dialogue box that doesn't go away and prevents me from actually clicking anything on the page, like so:

(Edit): Trying to create a page via the main page function for creating a new user page does the same thing.

If you want to count the 27 seeds (ugh) in that 3way contest, you get Tingle, Dan, Little Mac, Commander Keen, Prinny, Missile, Sandbag, and Fawful.

Don't forget Magikarp! And Missile actually beat Kerrigan in 2013, for what little it's worth.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the project where we rank all the CBX characters by contest strength! This time, well be ranking the Elites, comprised of Cloud, Mario, Samus, Snake, and Zelda. Before we get going, heres the Rules:

1. If at all possible, please number your rankings (ex. 1 for the strongest character, etc.) - it makes your ranks much clearer, allowing me to tabulate them much easier.
2. Rankings of indirect strength are preferred, but direct rankings will be allowed, especially in tandem with indirect rankings.
3. If you wish to rank characters by something other than contest strength, youre welcome to do so, but please clarify, and also make sure to post a contest strength ranking.
4. Youre always welcome to submit retroactive rankings if you missed one or more days, as well as change your existing rankings if so inclined, up until this project ends.
5. And most importantly, be nice to each other, even people you dont like! Discussion is welcomed and encouraged, but this isnt ultimately meant to be an overly serious project, so I dont want to see any knock-down, drag-out arguments developing in here about how someones not ranking by the stats or whatever else - use your discretion about this.

With the interest so far, I can confirm that this project is officially a go, and I will post the first ranking topic sometime tonight. One question for those who have already voiced their interest (and also anyone else who wants to participate), though: would you rather see us start off with the Elites and work our way downward from there, or would you prefer we start off with the Low Fodder and advance upward from there?

Also, as I garbled my way to saying to Anagram above, you don't need any advanced stat or other mathematical knowledge to participate, just a general idea of what CBX's results have been and a willingness to rank moderately-sized groups of characters. This isn't meant to be a super serious project, after all!

It's supposed to be based on which character you think is stronger, in terms of contest strength. For an indirect example, if you think Shantae would fare worse than John Marston against a neutral opponent in a contest match despite liking her more, you would rank John Marston ahead of Shantae.

I get that, I meant just based on our opinions or instincts of who's stronger, not based on like actual math that would take effort.

Whoops, my bad. Yes, you don't need to do actual math to participate. Maybe look at certain characters' CBX results if you're unsure.

I'm planning to run a project where every day (or every two or three days once the holidays start in earnest), I will present a tier of CBX characters who are (roughly) on a similar strength level, and anyone who wants to can rank them based on strength (indirect preferred, but direct allowed). Then, once all the tiers of characters are ranked, we'll have an idea of where Board 8 thinks everyone is at. And yes, I know KP's adjusted X-Stats are already out, but X-Stats don't always accurately depict how strong characters are in relation to one another, for various reasons.

Why must the characters be segregated into specific tiers, you ask? It's simple - 134 characters (discounting the two who are obviously ahead of or behind the rest) is an awful lot to rank, whereas anywhere from 5 to 20 characters depending on the tier will be a lot more manageable, hopefully without compromising accuracy. The tiers I'm planning on using are the following:

- Elites (5 characters)
- Near-Elites (15 characters)
- Upper Midcarders (11 characters)
- Midcarders (19 characters)
- Lower Midcarders (19 characters)
- Fodder Line (15 characters)
- High Fodder (20 characters)
- Fodder (20 characters)
- Low Fodder (10 characters)

Please post here if you're interested in submitting rankings for such a project (write-ups not necessary - only do them if you want), as well as whether we should start from the top or the bottom (excluding Link and Draven) if so. If there's enough interest, I'll put up the first ranking topic tomorrow.
