There's this one programmer kid at my work who is definitely on the spectrum. He's 19, quit school at 16, this is his first ever job.

Because he's on the spectrum, he doesn't handle change, confrontation or unexpected events well at all. I inadvertently caused him to go into a full meltdown last week because I asked him to make an update but it wasn't part of his plan for that day, but rather than tell me this he just went into another room and cried and got very upset for about an hour.

Additionally he doesn't have the capacity to pick up on social queues, so you could be in a meeting and he will interupt the CEO like every 30 seconds with a question about something incredibly specific. E.g. CEO will say "We're looking to get this rolled out in 2 weeks time" and then he'll interject with "By roll out I assume you mean we're going to make the new features listed on sprint 1.4 live? Also what date do you mean?" and if he doesn't get a specific answer to that, he becomes incredibly unhappy. Naturally he doesn't get invited to many meetings, and gets very upset when he realises that also.

None of that's really his fault, but on top of that he's really super cocky, and has no concept of doing as he's told. I guess the only reason he has a job in this role is because he is a good coder.

I feel like a bit of a dick for being annoyed at him but he makes everything more difficult than it would be otherwise.

Mario Odyssey is a beautiful game and a must-have for switch owners.

Stardew Valley is terrific.

There are some good ports for switch you could play. Diablo 3 on it is really good. Tales of Vesperia has been released on it. Dark Souls if that's your bag.

I actually just pulled the trigger - I found a Lenovo 320s 14 inch for dirt cheap, was quite impressed it had a 128gig SSD.

Should be good. Remember this is for a near 70 year old man to read the news and play solitaire, I think 8gig RAM wasn't gonna be necessary.

My parents have this old beast of a Dell that was probably a pretty great mid-range laptop...back in 2012. it has an i5 surprisingly, but at 3gb RAM it's choking. Startup takes maybe 3-5 minutes. Typical old person laptop. Now the CD drive is failing and the ports are starting to go too. It's on its way out.

I figure for what they do (internet, emails, occasional word processing) pretty much anything is going to be an improvement, running speed wise.

Trouble is I'm noticing the finish on a lot of these budget laptops is totally shit with cheap plasticy bendy keys and the screen size is small. This Dell may be old but it's solid, nice keys, a nice big 15 inch screen, etc.

Basically I'm wondering if there are any budget laptops around that aren't a 11.5 inch chromebook.

I wonder if it's worth trying for a refurb or previous gen? I wouldn't even know where to start.

Yeah, it definitely takes away from what could be good-to-great dramatic events.

The kicker is when you realise how long 30 episodes is when you're not binging it. At 1-2 weeks per episode that's an entire year. You could start a new job, go through your entire probation period, move into a new apartment, do a 3-month CPD course and eventually decide you should probably be in a different role and that scene would still be going on in that fucking anime you watched back in november last year.

I think it's more that they kept cutting away from the fight to show other things going on. The fight went from episode 698 to 720, but it was because they didn't show the fight in one continuous scene.

Yes this is true, but it's still inexcusable. In that arc I watched the same scenes cut and pasted over and over again over various episodes just to drag it out.

I can understand why they did it, but ultimately it ruined all dramatic effect.
