HVAC tech came and said the system is working fine, it's just undersized. It's a 4-ton unit, and he recommends at least 5-ton or maybe even going with a commercial 6-ton unit. The house is 3,600 sqft, with a 2,200 sqft finished basement.

Symptoms:
*Cool air is coming out, but not as strong as before in all vents.
*The AC has been on all-day; I am assuming the amount of cool air is not enough to displace the warm air.

What I tried:
*Cycle AC on/off.
*Replaced the air filter.
*Checked the condenser outside of the house; it seems clean.

I saw that in the main duct, there is an HVAC Booster installed. Could that perhaps have broken/turned off? Bleh... it's getting so damn hot in this house.

Need curtains to cover the following windows/doors (width x height):

36" x 98" - Bought 1x 52" x 95" matte curtain.
36" x 98" - Bought 1x 52" x 95" matte curtain.
69" x 84" - Bought 1x 100" x 84" matte curtain.
78" x 84" - Bought 1x 100" x 84" matte curtain.
156" x 84" - Bought 2x 100" x 84" matte curtain.
156" x 84" - Bought 4x 52" x 84" design curtain.
------------------------------------------------------------
Total:
2x 52" x 95" @ $70/each
4x 100" x 84" @ $70/each
4x 52" x 84" @ $55/each

And a bunch of curtain rods and curtain holdbacks for the remainder.

Sort of pissed curtains cost this freaking much. Would much rather buy a freaking TV or something nice.

He was trying to saying "it's 4 guests plus me," which is comically stupid and a clear violation of Airbnb policies.

That's not what he said. They're talking about her ad. Her ad says "4 beds and a couch" which typically means 5 people can sleep there. Usually when they list the couch with the beds it means it can be used as a 5th bed if need be.

This was the guy's reservation:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D8APAcMWsAA_MaY.jpg

He put 4 guests and showed up with 5.

Then just charge extra. There is no reason to be upset or make him look like a bad guy for that. Its an easy fix. He questioned her about the language of her ad, all she had to do was say "well, your reservation says 4 people and since there are 5 i will have to charge you an extra fee"...Simple. There really is no reason for you to be going in on him about how he's "in the wrong" and all that nonsense.

Also, I like how you're downplaying the racism "Yea it doesn't excuse what she said..."....But going HARD on the fact that he had an extra person. Man, fuck you...

It's not that simple. Airbnb's insurance for hosts will only cover what was booked. If there was any alterations, the host insurance will not cover anything. So she would have to amend the booking through Airbnb (which is a pain in the ass), or cancel it... We don't know which path she wanted to go about doing so since the video is short.

Looks like the host expected four guests but found five. Airbnb hosts can (and often do) charge extra for each additional guest, so that seems to be where the argument started. As far as calling them "monkeys", I would surmise that this was used in a derogatory manner and not a general statement; though I'm sure someone will defend it by saying she probably calls everyone monkeys...

what did you think of london?

Big Ben was under scaffolding. We took a tour of the Parliament and learned a lot on how the British government works, with the House of Commons and the Lords. The city seemed vibrant, and very liberal; for example, there were homosexual bars literally named "GAY BAR". This was not what I thought of London... Thought London would be very conservative, what with still having a royal family and whatnot.

We went to Kensington Palace and was really underwhelmed by it. The Versailles Palace runs circles on it! But from the "commoners" point of view, the "modest" nature of Kensington Palace is refreshing.

There seems to be two types of British accent; one sounds very posh and elegant, the other sounds very harsh.

Some more thoughts later I suppose.

You're American, correct? You should be used to being forced to give massive tips in restaurants then.

I guess what I mean is, if there is no service charge and there is no option to tip, am I supposed to tip? And from what I read, the tip is basically "round up to the nearest non-coin", typically 1-5%... But the two restaurants that asked for tip had a 5/10/12% option.

So we went to Versailles, and the line was really long. When we were right at the pre-ticket entrance, this French guy cut right in front of us. I called him out on it, and he's like "why don't you talk to the staff?". I kept giving him shit while we were waiting in line (like some kid kept bumping into his leg, and he glared at the parents; I said "being an extra big asshole, you line cutter", etc...), and he kept ignoring me.

Then we got to the ticket check, and he took out his ticket. I put my ticket in front of his, and told the staff this guy cut everyone. He glared at me. The people behind me backed me up, and the ticket checker took my ticket and scanned it. The guy put his hand on his chest, gasped loudly, said something in French, and just walked ahead of me to security check (without scanning his ticket).

The security guard yelled at him and stopped him. I told them what happened, and the French cutter responded "mind your own business", to which I replied "it is my business; in fact, it is everyone's business because you made all of us wait more, you asshole". The guards forced him to exit and he made a big ass scene.

Honestly that was satisfying. Fuck French people, but good on French security lol.

Here's an example:
The menu was a three course meal. I was pointing at what I wanted on the menu for the appetizer (because I don't speak French, and the menu was in French; thank God for Google Camera Translate), and the waiter started to pull the menu out of my hands. I had to literally hold onto it hard so that he doesn't take it. And he wouldn't let go... It was like a power struggle until I finished pointing to all of the three courses.

Another example: We needed our waiter, and we couldn't find him... So I asked another waiter for a check, and he said he's not my waiter. So I asked him to get our waiter, and he flat out said "no", and walked away.

Arrived CDG (Paris) from TXL (Berlin), and made my way to the hotel from the airport; some thoughts:
*There is literally no passport check, customs, etc... You just walk out to the street. lolwat
*There are a lot of homeless here... They're sleeping in the airport. On my way from the arrivals to RER transfer, I saw at least ten homeless just sleeping on the ground. What a bad first impression of the capital city of France.
*I saw at least two people "jumping the gates" to the RER... Berlin public transit system is based on a trust system (no ticket swiping), and of the three random checks that were done in Berlin, not a single person was caught without a ticket... So this was quite different experience fresh off the plane.
*On the RER and the subways: The city is very multicultural, compared to Berlin. Seemed like most people in Berlin were native Germans (aside from tourists); Paris had quite a wide variety of people.
*Public display of affection is everywhere. On the train, I saw a couple going at least second base; on the streets, I saw a few couples passionately kissing and hugging.
*Parisian women really don't shave their armpits.
*I like the French language much better than the German language.
*French hospitality seems less friendly/hospitable compared to the Germans, at least so far on my first night.

So a funny tidbit: our tour guide got us to a playground/parking lot area, and started telling us about Hitler and how he committed suicide in a bunker. During that talk, two Berliners relaxing nearby on a bench glared at us, stood up and left... Our tour guide made light of the situation.

Turns out the bunkers were underneath where we were. The tour guide also said they made the place inaccessible; he also noted that if it was accessible, Germany would never allow tourism there, and it was intentional that they made no markers of the place above ground, as the German government does not want the place to become a shrine.

I didn't know anything about Berlin, but decided to go anyway. So Berlin being the capital of Germany, I expected Berlin to be clean, full of people, a show of force (like all capitals), and overflowing with history along with its arts and music.

Instead, there is graffiti everywhere (we're staying at a four star hotel in a supposedly good district in Berlin: Tiergarten, and even here, it's full of graffiti), garbage on the streets, people jaywalking all the time, lots of beggars (more so than London, our previous city we visited earlier), no show of force (is there even police here? The whole vibe here seems more akin to Russia and Eastern Europe, moreso than what I expected of the capital of Germany, the strongest economy of the EU.
