I would never buy from a dealership, that option stopped making sense in the 1970s.

Singha is Thai

It's been 15 years since I was in that part of the world, but I remember them as being pretty good. Had a Kirin at Narita airport, in a noodle shop. Fun times. Singha was pretty much everyday tipple in Bangkok.

Buy a Honda.

Hondas are generally reliable, but Hondas have interference engines, if the timing belt breaks, it destroys the engine. Timing belts are replaced every 100,000 miles or so. If it hasn't been serviced at the right intervals, you have trouble.

Toyotas have non-interference engines, when the timing belt breaks, you just have the inconvenience of a tow to a shop to have the belt replaced.

All cars have their idiosyncrasies and weak spots. This is why you need a mechanic, particularly for older cars.

$2000-$3000 car? Don't buy from a dealer, all you'll get is stuff they picked up on speculation for $500 at auctions. Buy from a private party. Check Craigslist.

If you don't know much about cars, take your potential buy to a mechanic and get an opinion. Cheap to spend $50 to save $3000.

Even cheaper, spend the $300 on the new alternator for the car you already have. That avoids the issue of sales tax, license, and insurance for another car, probably $350 tax and license and $100/month insurance.

BTW, Carfax or similar will tell you ownership and warranty/insurance repairs, pretty meaningless for a car with 150,000-200,000 miles. Take it to a mechanic or bring a mechanic with you.

Hmm yeah I mean I'm not trying to become a pro or anything, I just wanted a decent set to call my own and get it with little hassle. Price isn't too much of an object, I used nothing but credit card rewards points!

How do you get them fitted when they're ordered online?
You buy clubs at the pro shop where you play and get them fitted there. Afterward, you know what to order online.

Again, you can play a good game of Par 3 golf with just a 9-iron and a putter, buy those from your local pro shop. For a Regulation course, add a driver and 3-iron. Once you know what fits you, and how to choose clubs, you can actually use a bag full of clubs.

Ouch! Overpriced!

Wilsons, not bad, but you need them fitted, and try them out.

Buy a driver, a 9-iron, and a putter fitted to you at the pro shop where you play, enough to play a decent game. You don't need the driver if you're playing a par-3 Executive course, just a 9 and putter. Then add clubs a piece at a time.

My best clubs (and my teaching clubs) are all thrift shop and pawnshop finds. I don't think I've ever paid more than $5/club even for Callaways.

I couldn't afford to teach an adult ed beginners class every summer if I outfitted a class of 24 with new clubs.

In the 50s, futurists worried that automation would reduce the workweek so much that it would be a problem providing enough recreation. Look at the Jetsons.

They never thought that jobs would be outsourced and that we would become a minimum wage service economy.

Similarly, in the 1960s, illegal drugs would never be a significant problem, drug users would sedate themselves and drop out of society. No one predicted that the 10% of problem users would consume 90% of the treatment resources, and that drug-financed gang warfare with juvenile shooters would make the gangster wars of the 20s look quaint.

French Dip is also a favorite, as are Hot Beef Sandwiches. Bacon Cheeseburgers. Submarine Sandwiches. Philly Cheesesteak. Tuna salad on toast. Ham salad on a bun. Biscuits and sausage gravy. Reuben sandwich. Gyros.

And I want meat on my pizza, either pepperoni, sausaage, Canadian bacon, ham, or BBQ beef.

Let's not forget trenchers, which predated plates. Meat and bread together are traditional.

So, no, I won't give up a thing.
