Not playing videogames, not having as much fun. Hmm, I wonder if there is a connection.

How about your other interests? Several of mine are intertwined with videogames. Tournament martial artist and swordswoman (hunter-games glorify swords, not realistic but some nice moves), student pilot (flying games are fun), sports car enthusiast (and driving versions of my real-life cars in Forza/GT etc.), golfer and golf instructor (golfing games are fun), electronic hobbyist (collecting/repairing videogame systems).

Other hobbies don't have much connection with videogames: reading, cooking, gardening, collecting movies, knitting, reloading ammunition, (target pistol and trick shooting isn't well-represented in videogames), knife-throwing (and spikes/shuriken), sewing, crafts, carpentry, and so on.

I built my first homemade electronic videogame for oscilloscope display as a teenager in 1961. I had built a hand-cranked 3-bit mechanical computer before that (programmed with cams for simple number games). My kids and grandkids have grown up with computer/videogames. my son is a pilot and engineer for a major aircraft manufacturer and has played flight sims since childhood. It's hard for me to imagine someone "giving up" videogames unless they were just a transient interest to begin with, or if they weren't integrated with real-world interests and activities.

Possibly because boomers are more highly educated, hopeful after finally reaching a real person at the end of a long phone tree and multiple holds, and then frustrated when the technician can't deal with any problem that is off their simple script (that only repeats the troubleshooting section of the manual that they've already done before calling tech support). Grrr!

No, I'm not a fan of overcommercialized arena sports, as I really prefer to play rather than being a spectator.

And, of arena sports, Adult Teletubbies, where fat men in colorful costumes run around a grassy field, run into each other and fall down, is possibly the most ludicrous.

That said, Patrick Mahomes is worth watching.

Yes. I don't answer unless I recognize the caller. I get several spam calls per day, I understand it's best not to answer because that just tells them it's a working number that they can sell to other scammers.

Even sending spam calls direct to voicemail, in addition to the usual "your Social Security number is being suspended due to illegal activity" and "a warrant is being issued for your arrest for back taxes", I've started getting calls about my Federal guaranteed student loan (sorry, the loans for my doctoral work were paid back 30 years ago!).I

I wish the FCC would do something, spam calls made my landline phone worthless and the cell phone is getting there.

Dinosaurs weren't around in 20AD. Crichton hadn't written Jurassic Park yet. You would gave to wait almost 2000 years to be eaten by a dinosaur.

I agree with Wolfy (and Mark Twain). With basic knowledge of engineering, and considering the decent metallurgy of the time, it would be possible to revolutionize farming, everyday life, and warfare/defense. Add making innovations in sanitation, medicine, food storage, etc. You could also use ethics and philosophy to found a rational religion. A Golden Age in 20AD to progress to an amazing 2020!

Guys, engine braking isn't allowed in certain places because of semi trucks. The engine brakes are super loud(there's an actual engine brake, aka engine "slower"[GFs won't let me use the actual term for some stupid reason] in semis) on older semis, which is why it's illegal in some cities. It has nothing to do with your little cars and your "engine braking"(really, if your car doesn't have an engine "slower", which most cars don't, I don't think it's really engine braking).

Heavy truck Jake Brakes have nothing in common with normal engine braking. Downshifting a car or truck is not illegal. In many places using compression release brakes IS posted as illegal.

So Im looking up engine breaking and it just sounds like regular driving to me. I mean its not like you need to have your foot down on the accelerator or the brake at all times.

Obviously easing off the gas is gonna make the car slow down gradually. I dont get it.

yeah im super confused, ive always drove like this and there is all this jargon im just now hearing

Modern cars with automatic transmission don't do engine braking unless you downshift. Manual transmission cars do engine braking when you let off the gas, more if you downshift. I find it disconcerting to let off the gas in an automatic transmission car and it doesn't slow down, cursed overdrive and pollution control.

BMW E36 M3. I'm happy with my lightly modded E36 328i convertible, but I'd trade up for an M3. The 94-99 E36 is ideal, before BMW went totally crazy with electronic gumpf. I admire my son's E39 540i V8 6-speed, but the E36 is reliable and easier to work on.

I'm still in the process of restoring my MA61 P-type Supra, fun car to drive. Lotus-designed suspension, torquey 2.8 liter inline 6, smooth 5-speed, factory fiberglass fender flares, factory wide wheels, limited slip differential, factory roof-mounted fiberglass wing. From the rear, looks like a DeLorean, in silhouette looks like a Mach 1 Mustang.
