It's near a full moon.
When there's no moon it's amazing. I've gone camping a few times over the years during the perseid shower and there's nothing like it.

I'll give the decade.
Preseids in 2020 will have a half moon. So better but still sucky. Same for 2024 and 2028
2021 is a quarter moon so they will show pretty well.
2022 will be a full moon again. Or close to it. 2025, 2027
2023 and 2029 will be nearly no moon. Like 10% visible.
2026 will be the best. They happen the same day as a new moon.

I really want to plan a Utah camping trip for the 2026 ones. Of course I could be dead by then. But still, something to hopefully look forward to.

TopicWhat's this bullshit aboutfolk from the early-mid 80s aren't really millennials?
EternalDivide

I can find enough studies that say early 80s is still Gen X. And that's what I go with because I don't align with one damn thing they say millennials grew up with or think as adults.
Which always baffles me because in one breath all these studies list off a, b, c, etc about what exactly a millennial grew up with, all digital, experienced 9/11 as being part of their childhood, etc. Yet then say those from the early 80s are a part of that group. Not recognizing that no one born in the early 80s aligns with one damn thing they just listed.

Adults on 9/11, non digital or pc upbringing up to and after graduating high school, were 20+ years old by the time cell phones became an affordable common item, can remember the cold war as it still dominated their youth, porn was a thing you got on VHS or from a magazine.
All that isn't someone who's a millennial. By their own damn definitions it isn't someone who's a millennial. Yet then insist otherwise.
Well I'm sorry. Early 80s isn't millennial. Period.

I've said that for years.
All these Hollywood shitheads. They all talk a big game. Oh, let's cry about the illegals. Let's cry about the kids. Let's break out the violins. Etc. etc.
I never see any of them helping out by offering to take any of those kids in. They're not down on the border handing out water to these illegals they love so much.
Same as when many of them were crying that they were moving to Canada after Trump won. Did they? Hell no.
If I was Trump I would have gone on tv, called them all out on it and then offered my private jet to take them to Canada.

They're all talk and they all have the collective intelligence of a gnat.
The only illegals they've ever encountered in their lives are the ones they hire to mow their lawns.

I've actually discussed this with my family. Not British if that matters. The biggest in my lifetime was John Paul 2 as far as the hoopla goes.
But QE2 will easily eclipse that.

And you know what. When she dies we will never have the phrase "Her majesty's secret service" anymore. Of course I'm thinking James Bond. None of us will live to see another queen rule England. It's baldy horse face, then baldy horse face junior, then what's sure to be, unfortunately for him in the looks department, baldy horse face the third.

My thought on Netflix is this.
There's competing services now and they've lost a ton of content that was the draw of them in the first place.
Then there's the question of finances. Obviously they earn a lot of money. But some of these projects like The Irishman are 150 million dollar productions.
Lost In Space. That's some serious movie quality sets and cgi. And I can't imagine stuff like Bright are cheap either.
Are they making more than they're spending? Because my gut reaction is that they aren't and they're just burning through cash.

To be totally real.

My 20s I went from not a care in the world disposable income.
To singlehandedly caring for my dying father, dealing with family that didn't help but had the time to criticize. Dealing with the death. Suddenly having a house and cars. Figuring out all the maintenance for it on my own. Zero cash flow. Losing my mind.
I came out great on the other side with some very massive pluses to my name (house) but I blame most of my white hair on my 20s. That's when it started.

My 30s have been delightful.

Except for the life force of the planet angle. The rich and poor in a city with a literal above and below. First class living off the work of the low class toiling below keeping the machines that power the city running.

That's Metropolis. And that's 1927.
Which if you've never seen it. Watch it. Yes it's nearly 100 years old now. Yes it's silent. Yes it's black and white. Yes it's two and a half hours long. But force yourself to watch it.
It is absolutely mind melting that it's from 1927. It was so ahead of it's time it's actually shocking. To just sit there and take in what's happening, the talent in making what you're watching and that this is from nearly a century ago. It's absolutely one of the greatest artistic feats in cinema. And this was at the dawn of cinema. Even in the visuals it was still decades until Hollywood made anything close to that heady and futuristic.

Republicans consolidate at the end of the day. The liberal dems want things their way or no way at all. Moderate dems aren't going to let those they view as insane take over their party and will never vote for one of them if made the candidate.

They essentially need to split that party between Dem and something else the really loony left can be a part of. Of course that splits the vote enough to let the Rep win but that's happening anyway.
