Yes, much like many avenues (as with the example with Weinstein), there may be something going on behind the scenes. If Mia Khalifa wants to shine a light on anything specific, then that's great. There also isn't anything wrong with regretting doing porn. However I think one of the biggest pieces of evidence that makes me think this is insincere is that she still uses her porn name. If she wanted to get away from her past and not be reminded of it, a very obvious first step is to not keep identifying yourself with your porn persona. So there's likely some self awareness on her part where she knows it's her porn identity that keeps her relevant and she's not above continuing to use it. Anyway, I feel less strongly about Mia's choices and more about defending healthy sex work in general. Not so much down with presumptions like in an earlier post: it also comes off as people who are still in the industry and regret their decision but don't have any better avenues --- |
