One thing to note is that a lot of fast food burgers already use the sort of fillers you may find in the impossible burger in their normal burgers. For example, remember how they found that taco bells beef was like only 30% beef?

Yeah, at least for impossible burgers. Idk about all fake meat. It's not really about being 'healthy', just not meat.

The problem with the original face/off is that Nicholas Cage is so much better at being the antagonist than Travolta, who does it for the bulk of the film. They can't make this same mistake.

I would recommend they just cast Nicholas Cage in both roles.

Loss of coal jobs is not a downside, it's the natural progression of technology.

Suppose your profession was fletching arrows, but then guns were invented. Yeah that's unfortunate for you, but your position is now obsolete.

The government should not subsidize obsolete technologies.

.

This is also why UBI is going to increasingly become a better idea. Technological increases as supposed to be good for society as a whole and not just for those people whose jobs happen to have not been automated away yet.

Ridiculous. You can't just create a permanent underclass of people in poverty who don't contribute to society because we have robots now. Give everyone guaranteed employment, a guaranteed standard of living, rethink what a job means (creating profit for capital isn't it - anything can be work if you are willing to pay for it.) We can better our communities, we can give everyone the dignity of contribution to society, and we can reduce the amount we work in hours or days, increase vacation as productivity rises instead of saying well some people work and get to be better off and everyone else has to barely get by.

Republicans don't really care about the way we get energy. Working class voters like the coal miners or oil rig workers just don't wanna lose their jobs, and the rest just fear the government doing anything will raise their taxes. Wealthier republicans are the same, except add their investments into the mix. Long term effects of climate change, potential dangers of fracking or nuclear energy and the poisoning of every day Americans are not even close to something they think about, as long as it isn't in their community.

The fact that Donald Trump's just a giant oaf dumb guy whose entire politics is based on grievances and getting mad at the TV is actually what endears him to his supporters. They hate most of his other traits, as an effete New York elite. Liberals are constantly like "maybe now they will FINALLY see he is.stupid!!" Most people just don't put intellect as a priority in a leader. Think about the typical "team" make up, the smart guy character is almost never the one in charge.

I didn't mean they didn't tell people ahead of time, I mean they didn't explain how they chose those polls. For example, in the debate, Bernie gets the #3 slot when if you average the polls he is very clearly number 2. Why did they arbitrarily chose polls that are giving a poor impression of the reality of the race? Why not just count any poll, or why not explain why those polls are the trusted polls?

There were plenty of polls where she hit 1% and 2%, and while I don't really care if she in the next debate because she doesn't offer anything unique really, she is right that the DNC arbitrarily decides which polls count and isn't transparent about the process. They did the same thing to exclude Mike Gravel, who made the number of donors and polled at 1% in certain polls, just not the ones they arbitrarily decides count. And back in 2008 the DNC also arbitrarily changed the rules to exclude Dennis Kucinich from the debates, when it was "top 4 candidates" and then Bill Richardson dropped out, they changed it to top 3 candidates. They have a history of manipulation of the debate stage.

Idk why, it's been Bernie's biggest strength for awhile now and Biden is clearly doing poorly right now. Things could change, but he is barely able to put together a sentence in very favorable conditions and people are noticing that. And we have had the data for awhile now that many Biden voters would go to Bernie if they switched.

Biden is a regression to the mean as opposed to the opposite of trump. People don't like how polarized politics has become and think a center leaning Democrat that acts like a normal president will resolve that.

That's my thought at least.

Those people are wrong though. "Normal presidents" are what led to Trump in the first place. Bill Clinton led to George Bush. Obama led to Trump. Joe Biden will give us something equally, if not more hideous. Boomers in particular desperately crave a "return to normalcy" that is a fantasy. The increase in polarization is directly a result of the norms they experienced. All the income has gone to the top, we are permanently in forever wars for oil, we have militarized police and a massive government surveillance network and secret torture prisons, unions have been gutted, everyone is in debt, people are alienated and terrified and regularly mass murder their neighbors and children believe they will all inherent a world that is going to be increasingly bleak and uninhabitable. And both of the major parties have supported every single aspect of this every step of the way. The right wing outrage machine is going to prey on your grandpas reptile brain and scream about the evil socialist devils no matter who is elected. The folks who put out this garbage aren't going to unlearn these techniques working. You can't deprogram this conditioning by just offering up limper and limper candidates so you assume they will reasonably conclude oh, they aren't so crazy. You can't help grandpa. But you can get younger people involved if you give them a hope for a better future. Obama didn't govern that way, but it's how he campaigned. And it worked, because we believed it. Nobody believes that Joe Biden is our great hope for change.
