Blizzard is right to have some sort of consequences for situations like this since when you sign on to be a pro player you most likely sign something where you agree to not use portions of the e-sports as a soap box to present your opinion on things like politics. Which is the reason they banned him. Now, the way they instantly reacted and the degree to which the punishment was would make anyone suspicious. Something like this should be "You're suspended for X games and you have a fine of X" but they went straight to "banned and you don't get any of your prize money."

This kind of rhetoric is actually part of what the Chinese use to justify their own censorship. I've spoken to Chinese individuals who claim it's no different from how political correctness works in the West (with some even believing that racism or insults are a crime in the West).

China has such a tight control over information that the Chinese have no choice but to accept and believe the government's story. Even though they're aware their information is censored, they lack access to alternative outlets to actually figure out how the censored version differs from reality. As such the majority in China hate the Hong Kong protests and support the Chinese actions in this situation.

This is going to be the reality in the west as well if this kind of shit keeps being tolerated. China needs to be isolated economically if they refuse to stay in their lane. They don't care how bad it looks, controlling information is a key part of how they stay in power. They don't need to suppress dissent that doesn't exist.
