Lilos schtick was that she took pictures of tourists as a way to otherize them the way they did with her in her own ancestral land (the early drafts even explicitly had scenes of tourists talking at (not to) Lilo, and plainly and rudely asking her if she even spoke English.) Im still pissed that never made it into the actual movie, because it wouldve further cemented that Lilo is an alien nobody really understands, just like Stitch is. --- |
