I rarely play racing games, especially realistic racing games, but this is fun. I've been doing the Career Mode, which seems very comprehensive. I'm not doing terribly well, however. I'm about 10k in debt; my car manufacturers hate my guts; I've had a DNF at least once. I thought I was starting to get good at this game, but I'm not so sure now. Anyone else been playing this? There was Super Mario 64 for the N64; Sonic 1 for the Mega Drive; Breath of the Wild for the Switch; Sonic Adventure 1 for the Dreamcast; Metal Gear Solid 2 for the PS2; Super Mario Bros 1 for the NES. The graphical quality is reasonably high, and I really like the cel-shaded look, and the use of colour is VERY good. Definitely interesting subject matter, i.e the occult. Strong sense of mystery and such. The dark arts, Kabbalism, other mysticism, and so on. Enjoyable read. | Sunhawk 11/14/19 9:29:19 AM #1 | Bare in mind, I have very little experience with them. Almost all my racing games are non-realistic games, e.g. various Mario Karts. At the beginning, I couldn't even get the first regular race to start, so I gave up, and went off to another part of the game. I then went onto an option called "Season", which I assume would be half a dozen races, or something similar, and then (lol) I did about 15 races, which took me about 2 hours. At the end, I don't even remember it telling me whether I'd done well or not, although, to be fair, I came last on almost every race. I am so bad at this game. The graphics themselves are generally excellent. Very detailed textures; long draw-distance; impressive weather effects; good framerate, i.e. 30 FPS. There are a LOT of little problems, though, and small glitches. Also, sometimes an object near the course looks kinda ugly. Gameplay seems fun, but much too hard. I mean, I finish last on almost every course. Usually, racing games start off easy, then get hard. At least it's not one of those push-overs, which really annoy me. Anyone else play this? | Sunhawk 11/13/19 5:51:30 AM #1 | When the Tony Hawk series stopped having games released each year, and regular games. That was probably the biggest tragedy of all. Well, that and the 32X. Seriously. The Tony Hawk games were excellent, and you could put 100+ hours into those monsters. So much fun. Very good graphics, and the areas were really well thought it. Up until 2007, everything was fine, but then Neversoft decided to "shake things up", and we got those extremely expensive, boring looking motion board games, and not even every year. Wtf. Why. I know the series was (apparently) tailing off quite a lot with sales, but, ironically, the change to the different games just about killed it. I remember, when Ride came out, it sold something like 3,000 copies its first week. 3,000. Lulz. I don't know what Neversoft and Activision were thinking. I think the series peaked with Project 8. SUCH a great game. I expect I have 150+ hours on it. Over the years, I've often gone back and started new files, and I also have my "main" files, which I've done a lot of the game on. Still haven't even come close to 100%ing it. Project 8, and the other sandboxy games were such great templates. Why didn't they just keep going like that? Thoughts on all of this? In general, why do companies have an excellent series going, annual installments going, and then just call it a day? --- It has been 0 days since something interesting happened. | Sunhawk 11/11/19 8:27:32 AM #1 | High 10 / 10 for difficulty. Ridiculously hard. Extremely few gamers can even dare attempt it, much less beat it. Thousands of deaths. Controllers thrown through glass windows. Hair torn out. Probably 100+ hours doing it all. Demands by loved ones to "walk away". Anxiety-related problems. Well. What is it. For me, I would probably say...Blast Corps. That really was ridiculous. Many of the challenges were hard, or very hard, but getting some of the platinum medals in time attack was very crazy. I did finish it, however. I won't spoil the message you get at the end. Made me laugh. Main file took something like 60 hours.
