I have not played Night in the Woods. I've seen it described often as "millenial depression simulator" and I'm usually not in a headspace where playing that would be good for me. Have heard nothing but good things about it, though.

I've posted before about how much it resonated with me. That being said, without spoiling it further, I'll just say that if you feel like playing it wouldn't be good for you, I would recommend following that intuition.

My experience with DDLC is unfortunately that I would have had to not know the big spoiler beforehand in order to care about its story, excepting one particular character.

I thought Mae's personal issues and friendships were a lot more compelling than the horror aspect.

I agree with this, but I would argue that's the point. The horror is of course very much present, and even comprises the largest-scale plot thread. In my opinion, though, it represents incidental events that happen to occur in Mae's life rather than being what NITW is truly about.

I'm glad you acknowledged this. For what it's worth, I personally found it enjoyable to simply walk and jump around as Mae every day, and the element of exploring and discovering new places and situations in Possum Springs also helped to ensure its drudgery wasn't simply unfun for me.

Still, though, I think just about any good-faith opinion about NITW is valid, even if I personally disagree with some of them. It's (of course) a very unique game, and different people have different experiences and take away different things from it. It just so happened to have an unprecedented impact on me in particular.

Captain America: Low Midcarder - Iron Man has been lionized as the main protagonist and audience surrogate of the MCU for so long that I would be shocked if he's not its most popular character, even on GameFAQs. I think Cap being weaker is pretty much inevitable as such. To me, the likes of Thor and the Hulk are better comparisons, especially considering that those two are fan-favorites, and the former's MCU series is actually continuing. I also doubt Cap's jingoism (however deemphasized in the MCU) and consistent presence in games GameFAQs voters don't actually care about do him any favors.

Rocky Balboa: Low Fodder - I'm not inclined to think any character from any 70s or before movie not called Star Wars is worth anything more.

Funnily enough, Farfetch'd fits perfectly into that description, but... I'm not buying it. Voltorb and Mr. Mime would be good candidates, I'd say.

Yeah, Farfetch'd has too strong of a fanbase, and it's not like people outside of its fanbase hate or even dislike it. I don't think Voltorb is likely due to its Pok Ball resemblance and people appreciating its trolly nature, while Mr. Mime is notable as Ash's mom's Pokmon in the anime, and has a memorable Detective Pikachu scene, for what little that's worth.

As for remakes/remasters in the upcoming GotD, the short answer is no, but the long answer is somewhat more complicated than that. The main wrinkle here is that The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, essentially a remake of The Binding of Isaac, was allowed in BGE 2015. I think the closest answer to the truth is that to be allowed, remakes/remasters must be of a 2010s game, and strongly distinct from the original, akin to Rebirth.

Here's two interesting questions I just thought of: which Gen. 1 Pokmon is the weakest, and which Gen. 1 Pokmon is the most generic for contest purposes?

I decided to brainstorm a list of candidate Pokmon for the latter:

I believe @ZenOfThunder proposed nominating Shellder for CBX to determine exactly this, and it seems like as good a candidate as any.

As for the weakest outright, I would say there's a limited list of candidates, because I don't think being generic is enough:
- Metapod and Kakuna (due to being cocoons)
- Rattata, Zubat, Golbat, and Tentacool (all susceptible to antivotes, though Zubat in particular might paradoxically be too recognizable because of how hated it is)
- Lickitung, Tangela, and Magmar (all highly obscure by Gen. 1 standards; Lickitung's probably the most unpopular, while I haven't seen a single person purport to actually like the latter two)

Psyduck: Mid Fodder - On the basis of the question "why would the average GameFAQs voter vote for Psyduck?" having no satisfactory answer.

Doctor Octopus: Mid Fodder - Staying consistent with my Lex Luthor vote, since I very much doubt he's more than one tier weaker.

I still stand by my Venom vote, at the time, because I still think a notable portion of GameFAQs voters would have been petty enough to antivote him due to Spider-Man leaving the MCU. However, now that the situation's resolved, I would say Venom is currently High Fodder.
