Uh. That would mean that fireworks are worse, not better. You've outright solved your own problem; laws are already in place to keep lasers from being used in area with aircraft, meaning that the thing you're taking issue with wouldn't even happen.

Or did you think people were suggesting that average joes all make their own laser shows wherever the fuck they want? Because that is not what is being suggested. We're talking about coordinated, organized shows. The hint is in the phrase "laser SHOW."

The statue in question, while at first glance may appear to be a black man on his knees and subservience to Lincoln, upon closer inspection he is actually rising from his knees and Breaking Free from his shackles. Not to mention the statue was funded by freed slaves. I think the statue should be preserved.

I mean, even being charitable to the statue, it could be the cover image for an essay on the white savior trope. It is pretty yikesy regardless of whether or not the other figure is subservient, though I can only speak with a modern perspective.

Tbh, I think if the statue had just been of a man breaking free of chains, it would be a more powerful image anyway.

@Mead Ah, well, it was a Chinese buffet, and quite some time ago at a different part of town, a Mongolian restaurant opened up. The buffet decided to basically copy-paste what that restaurant served in addition to what the buffet already offered, which required new ingredients, new cooks, and installing new hardware to prep the food... and pretty much no customers made use of it because if they wanted that kind of food, they'd just go to the other restaurant. So they blew all this cash trying to squash competition and ended up squashing themselves instead. Whoops.

Sucks, I really liked that place.

Am "white" by today's standards. However... my father was born in Ecuador (his father was from Italy and his mother's ancestry is mostly Spanish I think) and had a definite accent when he was a child. He was bullied a lot when they moved to the USA for it, and I think that's why he decided not to teach any of his kids Spanish. His youngest brother was born in the USA, and oddly is the only one in the family that the authorities have tried to deport despite being the only natural-born citizen among the siblings.

I watched the video and it's strange; pay attention to his head/neck, not his hands. He doesn't tip his head back at all, which I think is why he handled the cup weirdly. That coupled with the weird walk makes me wonder if he didn't want to move his neck for some reason.
