If she hadn't gone insane with mistrust I wonder if they would have still beaten her. I mean hell she literally beat the Avatar in the Avatar state by zapping him with lightning, not even the Fire Lord did that. I still don't understand How they could have let that happen.

The answer is no. Her madness was done well enough in its short window of development - and there are far, far worse ways to illustrate a character's descent into madness, cough cough Game of Thrones - but it was still a conveniently-timed nerfing.

It can take awhile to get into for some people; whereas Fallout 3 (however inexplicably) makes a good first impression, New Vegas tends to build steam as it goes. Part of this is in the story, where the plot starts to open into a greater intrigue and more well-written characters start coming into play. Another part of it is the satisfaction of returning to areas that kicked your ass when you strayed from the suggested path and mopping the floor with them.

Another thing is that the DLC really put the shine on NV, and those are generally intended for higher levels.

I'd recommend getting to a point where you've met Mr. House, Yes Man, Caesar, and have at least started Old World Blues (or Dead Money, if you want some challenge and heavy atmosphere). If it still ain't clicking at that point, I'd put the game behind you.

My top ten characters across both series would be something like this:

1) Korra (no, that's not a typo, and I stand by it)
2) Zuko
3, 4) Iroh, Sokka (really hard to decide here)
5) Katara
6, 7) Toph, Aang
8) Zaheer
9) Azula
10) Lin or Tenzin (tough choice here)

Toph's an excellent character, but the one thing weighing her down is that she's already an earthbending goddess by the time she joins the group; so you don't get the wealth of character arc that's a byproduct of slowly mastering her craft, like you get with Katara (this also forced the writers to constantly put Toph into positions where she was nerfed). Her backstory is also a bit too minimal compared to the other top characters; her one brief flashback of learning earthbending from badger moles gives me warm fuzzies every time I watch it, but there's just not enough of moments like this for her.

Confession time: I never actually finished reading The Hobbit, even though I read all the LotR books. But I watched the shit out of this movie as a kid; I even did a class report on Tolkien and imitated Gandalf's entrance in the OP.

I think one of the things I couldn't look past in the live action movies was how Bombur was a fat mute punchline instead of Bilbo's buddy.

I'm fine with this. What dragged Crystal Skull down was shitty, waaay over-the-top CGI setpieces; Harrison Ford remained consistent and entertaining throughout as far as I can recall, even though there was only so much he could do on his own to salvage the trainwreck.

The scene in the diner and the resulting car / bike chase could stand among the best in the franchise imo, so there's still hope that they can make a decent modern Indy flick if they focus more on maintaining that kind of tone.

Bro, you cannot look me in the eyes and tell me "The Great Divide" is a good episode. I almost stopped watching the show the first time I watched it because of that one lol. Luckily it's the worst episode by a good margin.

I agree that Book 1 has a lot of skippable eps compared to the majesty of Books 2 and 3, but let's not get hyperbolic here.

Especially considering that 'Nightmares and Daydreams' is the worst ep in the series. It's the very definition of filler, and it robs an episode slot that should have been devoted to a legitimate Zuko + Toph field trip.
