there's a lot of really nice touches in mp6 - the day/night system minigames are really cool in general (thinking of the 1v3 games where the role of the 1 and 3 is swapped here, but it's good in general)

yeah thats how i'm feeling as well. tentatively it looks fun and i certainly liked the opening plot teaser but...the prior releases have shown i need to see a final product before i'm purchasing a $60 game lol

for what it's worth, i think the crux of rob's argument was: if you're worried that tony is going to win that you want him out (and are clearly openly rooting for sarah), go do it yourself. the fact that he made it to the finals is on natalie's hands, so to speak.

thats a weird take to me, given how many other mini-games are not appealing conceptually

like, you don't enjoy cake factory because it accurately replicates making cakes!

it's a race game that requires a certain degree of finesse - the "get all six sides" ensures it lasts long enough and demands enough precision to be compelling - but can be completed fast enough by a good player (under or around 10 seconds even!)
the cooking stuff is useful to help a player understand what's going on, but it's set dressing, of course.

it's honestly one of the best games in the series for me, and aside from one other standout in mp9 easily the best use of motion controls!

i mean, 2p games can be pretty agressively zero-sum in general but i just think you gain a lot from the extra player(s) in the equation to use their tiles/compete for the season's tiles/etc. it's a lot of the flavor of the game, at least!!

i guess, i just view it as a little too much to account that criticism of my enjoyment of the season into my evaluation of the player/character/whatever

like i'm still totally fine with tony even though he voted out sophie and kim, which dipped my personal investment in wow like 90%

i think my main beef as someone who plays a lot of 2-player games is that it loses some of what makes it special at that count. obviously you can still compete over tiles, but the interactivity of the auction/worker-placing/whatever-you-want-to-call-it mechanics with the differently-colored meeples is a big draw and doesn't play as well with 2

whereas a lot of games with less direct interaction tend to scale down to 2 just fine

i can't fault him for his gameplay though - once he started actually playing (basically by his own admission) he probably did everything just about as well as he could to get to the end and win. ultimately it was just too late to actually catch up for his awful start, but he got a handful of jury votes, i can't really blame that!

dean won me over by the end - he wasn't a great character, but was actually generally fun

and honestly, that's mostly how i felt about missy and aaron sans the obviously horrid dan stuff. once again though, there's no getting away from the stain of dan on 39. and i'd probably still not put it dead-last but it's really hard to justify even putting it ahead of garbage like redemption island and one world.

i think there's no sadder "what if?" in survivor history than how 35 plays out in the timeline where there's no fire-making challenge

devon's play at the final 5 was an absolutely incredible read and an awesome moment that immediately got buried by the stupid fire challenge and ben's win

i agree with 39 having a really solid cast overall, but the problem is that the whole thing with dan affects literally every part of the post-merge game of the season, so you can't just conveniently ignore the parts that he's involved in

like i loved janet and elaine and kelley and jamal, and would love to see them on a magical future season with no dans, but that's not what 39 got to be

i actually got to play keyflower basically right when it came out, before i was super familiar, perhaps, with eurogames in general

it's really good, and has some super clever mechanisms, but i never really warmed to it. there's a big ol' tier of games below my favorites (say, top 25 or so) that are really good games that i just don't love, for whatever reason. thinking of classics like agricola and terra mystica here. keyflower really belongs right up there with those, and i think bgg (it's decently high there, yeah?) recognizes that

i've heard the app (much like vlaada's other superstar, galaxy trucker) is fantastic

i still haven't played a full game of this though! it's longer than what i usually go for so i've never managed to actually make this happen with my friend who owns it

btw whoever said michele is a jury goat at the end is forgetting just how many people who got voted out and immediately gave her their fire tokens are gonna be on that jury. michele has a lot of friends there, and i seem to remember that working out for sandra when russell thought she was similarly goat-ish...
