Neh. It's just very common in my family. I stopped getting in trouble with alcohol once they'd stop being MIPs.

DUI's can be life shattering if you can't afford a good attorney to get you off or a good plea deal. Probably the only thing worse would be some sort of critical health issue or someone close to you dying. I literally had a DUI, a bogus Driving With Suspended License conviction, and two close friends die all in a 6 month period.

That 6 month period redefined me as a human being. I can't say one way or the other if it was for the better or not. I'll never know what would've came from the life I was building back then, but I was really happy with my life before all the shit went down. Honestly, I didn't have so much bitterness and cynicism about society and the world before 2007. When everything you've worked your ass off for is taken from you and then you get screwed and kicked while your down, and then two of the dearest people in your life get taken away on top of that? You tend to look up to the heavens and hate the fuckers that brought it all down on you, or just reject the idea of them entirely.

It all made me stronger, but a certain part of my spirit was utterly broken during that time. It really didn't have to be that way, but that's just the way the world works out for some people.

I had a shitty year in 2007

I got arrested twice and spent 28 days in jail.

Had a similar experience. I've never fully bounced back from it TBH.

It's not oppressive unless it's every cop, to every person, in every encounter. I haven't been oppressed by any over zealous police officers ever. Have you? Sure it happens too often to some people by some cops, but when you start blaming every single police officer for the actions of individuals, you are doing the same has blaming the entirety of everyone for a single rude person. Are you the rude one?

I have multiple times. I was sleeping in my car and cops brought out their dogs and did an illegal search on my car. I didn't consent and they didn't have a warrant. They threatened to beat me up and arrest me for obstruction of justice when I told them I didn't consent to the search. They found nothing (I had nothing and told them they were wasting their time) after ransacking my car and leaving everything everywhere. They were furious that they didn't find anything and they told me to leave their town immediately.

One time I was pushed into a cop when a mob of people were rushing to get on a train. The cop grabbed his baton and told me he was going beat the shit out of me. I told him it was an accident and someone pushed me into him and he told me to get the fuck outta there or he'd bash my face in.

Another time while I was on probation I let my girlfriend drive my car to work. The cops CALLED me and asked me why my car was parked at this restaurant. I told them I let my girlfriend drive my car. A few weeks later I sold my car to this guy and they pulled him over three blocks away from my apartment. The guy called me back and asked me if the car was hot or something, I told him the truth: The cops were actively trying to ruin my life.

I got a driving with suspended license charge because the cop intentionally wrote down my information wrong and I never got the notice that my license was being suspended. They didn't care, the courts didn't care, in fact my public defender threw me under the bus and lied to me about the proceeding and my evidence that the police wrote down the wrong address wasn't admitted as evidence and I had to go to jail.

The system is broken, there are plenty of corrupt police precincts all over the country. There's no justice in the courts unless you're rich, and those people get away with everything.

From what I understand about covid, with all the data that has come out in the last few months, to get these kinds of spikes you basically have a large percent of the population getting together in large groups, mingling with many different people at close contact, probably indoors, and people are actually going out when they have fevers in these groups when they're shedding a large amount of the virus

The comedy world is all about gatekeepers. I go to open mics once in a while and if you don't know the people running it, you can show up an hour before signups and not go on stage until 1am, and you'll see people show up at 10pm and be on stage by 10:15 just because they're buddies with the MC. It's really not that unusual for the people running shit to abuse their power like that.

Almost every person I know who doesn't get vaccinated is healthy as an ox. Even the fat and out of shape ones are surprisingly healthy despite their predisposition for illness. A lot of the people I know who religiously get their shots every time they're prompted are frail as fuck. They also end up getting sick a lot of the time from the shot, or the shot is ineffective and they end up sick anyway. Meanwhile, I go the entire year without getting sick and I've never been vaccinated in my entire life.

Not sure if these people are frail and weak because of the vaccines or just poor genetics, but they're the ones going around making the obscene jokes about people's children dying. It's a really sick thing to joke about and honestly, makes me even more resistant to ever getting vaccinated. The irony of it all is it's probably their children that would end up dying, so they just project it onto healthy, properly evolved humans to make themselves feel better.

They're the same people that are deathly afraid of Covid. I'd feel bad for them if they weren't so rude and condescending.
