History is not taught well in schools. The treatment (extirpation) of Native Americans, slavery, Trail of Tears, Black Codes, Jim Crow, lynchings, Chinese out West, Chinese Exclusion Act (really meant all Asian exclusion), etc all need to be talked about and not glossed over and sanitized like a Disney film.

250 years of having black people as chattel, the constant dehumanization and emphasis on maintain the racial order. Like earlier mentioned, the vast majority of these victims didn't do anything, all it took was an allegation or a black person got "too big". A lot of the victims were successful businessmen or landowners.

The barbarism in these lynching accounts (on black bodies over this 400 year period in general) is just something that never fails to make me recoil in horror.

We tend to think that this is ancient history but these kind of things persisted for decades after Mary Turner's murder, so much so that it prompted 6 million of African Americans to move from the south to the north between 1916 and 1970.

I've also seen various people in my circle of friends who lean left preach about black schools for black students.

It's a really weird phase where they don't really realize how segregationist those kind of things are. It's like they think as long as there aren't "black only" fountains it isn't segregation or something.

There is a big disparity in health care and it falls along racial lines and the bias within that field. Black infant mortality and maternal mortality are the highest. There's typically not as much of a cultural disconnect with black doctors and black patients.
