I also just have this mental block that completely disallows me to go outside for any reason unless it's to take out trash or my mom tells me to. The thought of my mom asking me where I'm going and having to explain that I'm looking for a job or even just going for a walk makes me physically sick. Shes not abusive, shes only really yelled at me once and spanked me 2 or 3 times as a kid so idk why I'm so afraid. But I just can't do anything.

Tbh i am 38 now and still have a weird thing about the power dynamic between my dad and me.

I was a little shit and did all kindsa bad stuff as a teenager but i was also so worried hed find out and it wasnt really cause i was worried about being punished. Partly but mostly... well whatever it is that still makes me feel like i only wanna impress him.

Not that hes likely to ever say it if i do make him proud. Back when i was super into bjj and boxing i always thought he thought it was stupid and pointless. Then like a year ago after id stepped back to the odd sparring session with friends who fight and gave up on tourneys he told me how proud he was. Like wtf dude that woulda been cool to hear back then.

Lol I just remembered one time when we moved we didn't have a carrier for my cat so we put her in a trashcan. She wasn't happy but it was pretty funny.

We went out for a bit and he met a small off leash dog and i hate to say it but he genuinely hates small dogs. Big dogs are cool. Small dogs gotta die.

He met that dog *over an hout before this picture and his tail is still at 40% poof. Ive (almost) never seen him get as mad as he was. Lol.

That's the same ones we have and use, we initially got them because we thought the kids would think they were cool when they came over but we wound up keeping them as our primary, they are awesome. Amazon has a good 6 pack steak knife set to go with it for like $20.

I dunno what the proper term is but forever ago i saw this jet fuel finish cutlery set (theres vmx frames with the same finish and thats what theyre called) and i musta mentioned to my mom how cool they were.

Long story short today is my bday and she got me that set of cutlery and omg i am so stoked about it. Getting old is weird but seriously is this spoon im using gold? Silver? Blue? Purple? Pink?

They shift colours like gas floating in a puddle. Its so great. Its a huge quality of life improvement tbh.

I once had to wait for like two hours for a supposedly accomplished backyard mechanic to change one out on my girlfriends toyota while i just got more and more pissed cause i coulda literally done it in an eighth of that time.

But oh no her sisters bf knew what he was doing.

Which was mostly taking two fucking hours to do a simple, quickass job while we were broken down two hours from seattle and like another 4 hours from home.

But i was the asshole for getting mad about her not trusting me to do it for some god forsaken reason.

Yeah, I hear you on that. For one book (either #5 or #6, I don't remember) it bugged me so much that I actually wrote the passages down in a notepad file as they went along. Every time a character complained about the opposite sex. It was appalling how large that file grew by the time I was through. Just over and over and over from all characters.

Lol. I cant even imagine. Youd have to take notes constantly. I honestly wonder if he ever read a whole book after finishing.

Like youd think if he did a full on start to finish read hed realize he repeats stuff way too often. Or at least he could find a different way to express certain things.

WoT is interesting because I'm not sure there is a single character that doesn't have a long stretch where they are extremely unlikable.

so far perrin and matt have been okay. Perrin really hasnt been unlikeable and mat was under the influence of shadar logoth or whatever when he was at his worst.

Birgitte is cool too but shes had a lot less time to suck and isnt really a main protagonist.

Theres a difference between flawed characters and constantly repeating the same thing over and over again.

Also you can have a flawed character and still not have to rely on their absolute idiocy and stubborn bs to create drama or tension as jordan typically does.

Im enjoying the books a lot overall but some of it is just so glaringly stupid and lacking in reason beyond theyre all overly proud and stubborn morons who wont talk to one another ever and also men and women are different.

you can work that once or twice with a character or two.... but in the wheel of time thats literally every main character far more often than not.

I read some of that series years ago. I think I got to book... 6? before I ended up stopping. Partially cause I don't read much these days but mostly because it was starting to get a little repetitive. It's overly verbose and far too much of it is sexism directed at both sides and SO many problems would be solved, or closer to it, if people actually talked to each other once in awhile.

Yeah it is very repetitive and often just seems to be declaring that even characters who were friends since childhood literally dont know eachother at all.

Even ignoring braids and skirt smoothing im pretty sure rand wished he understood woman like perrin and mat or mat wished he understood women like perrin and rand or perrin wished etc....

pops up constantly depending on whose part of the story youre currently reading.

I think the gender issues are being overblown in this topic though. The worst of those, imo, is rand constantly refusing to let the aeil maidens in on shit cause he doesnt want any women to die. Aeil women are wise and better warriors than most men but we better keep them clueless and protected as much as possible. Fuck off rand. Lol.

im just wrapping up book 7 but so far shes no worse than nynaeve and tbh the entire dynamic with elayne, nynaeve, and mat is painful as fuck.

Theyre all just stupidly stubborn and difficult and childish as hell for the entire. book. Worse than that is that its never even really explained well or told in such a way that it makes sense.

Like it really pretty much boils down to mat is mat / nynaeve had to deal with mat growing up and he was a trouble maker and lay about / elayne is haughty

all of it was dumb and even if that nonsensical tension was necessary for padding out everything in ebou dar jordan could have at least tried to make it reasonable and not just three people being idiots.

Hell even the resolution of that stupidy was just birgitte and aviendah saying hey you two chicks are fucking ridiculous.

You need artistic talent for that. Being able to play anything should simply translate to being able to replicate any known song on any known instrument with the proper sheet music, but that doesn't mean you're talented at making songs. At best, you'd be a goofy sideshow thing on daily talkshows for a week. You could get lucky and get picked up by a band, but you're talking full time job or more for decades to ever get 50 million.

You could literally play a film score by yourself. Background on music albums. Tours.

Session musicians dont make fuck all so the background music aint ever getting you within throwing distance.

The rest still requires luck and a ton of hard work before you even have a chance to work on any project thatll potentially pay hundreds of thousands let alone millions.

its a tiny percentage of musicians who ever make anything close to that and many of those who did definitely didnt get there because they were the most talented.

If the skill is the main thing thats totally reasonable but if youre choosing the skill cause it has greater earning potential thats a bad call all around.

Plus call me crazy but id rather just have 50 million than spend all the time on the road and shit.
