| CoolCly 09/23/20 4:07:13 PM #2 | This is very interesting to me because I've been reading The WoW Diary: A Journal of Computer Game Development by John Staats. He talks extensively about his experience as an amateur 3d FPS level designer being hired to design areas during vanilla WoW development in 2001. The environment he describes reflects so much of what Mike is talking about. Having no publisher meant Blizzard didn't have the pressure other studios do about meeting deadlines and that upper brass just wanted them to focus on making things the best they could It was super collaborative, everybody talked to everybody about what they were working on and gave ideas. They literally wouldn't hire skilled staff if they weren't gamers. So everybody there is just a gamer passionate about making games. I might talk about some of the things he says in more detail if people are interested. He was just tired of Activision's shit. https://www.washingtonpost.com/video-games/2020/09/23/mike-morhaime-blizzard-dreamhaven/ He talks a LOT here about how important he thinks the environment of allowing developers to make the best game is... and how corporate pressure constantly interfered with that and it was his job to deal with that, and it seems that's why he eventually left. Which I think everybody agrees that's what's wrong with Blizzard these days. Pretty much all staff are ex Blizzard employees so this is probably a big brain drain on Blizz on top of carrying on it's values. 27 employees though, so they probably aren't close to actually shipping a game.... How fast is legit "Blizzard Soon" now that games on average already take years to develop? I'm excited! Not everyone would buy into what the Jedi believe is the source of their power, and 20 years is a while to go without much demonstration of the force. But the prequels well established them as intergalactic peacekeepers that everybody knows about. 20 years might be enough to not believe in the force but not enough to forget who they were or that they existed >_> The original trilogy being clunky about it is handwavable because it was so early into the world building, but trying to push that narrative as the state of the galaxy now is kinda eyeroll worthy --- The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG |

We have a fully staffed IT department, but their focus is supporting our retail locations, so our petty issues that lock us out of working are not a priority for them. It can take hours or days for them to get to you. In the meantime, the finance person can't do their job or at least part of their job until they get addressed. And then IT might not even really believe you have an issue! So why wait for them when they could ask Cly and get back to work in 5 minutes, or if I can't figure it out or make the fix myself I'll tell them exactly what to tell IT so they can solve the problem quickly when they do get to it it's not even an aging boomer problem.... these people are primarily our age group or even younger this is especially funny because my best friend is a sysadmin, and talking to him about tech always makes it blatantly clear i dont know anything about computers --- The batman villians all seem to be one big joke that batman refuses to laugh at - SantaRPG |

The religion is alright, but not super memorable I guess that mostly was the point - they were just a normal average race that got picked on by an actual chad Star Trek race (the Cardassians) and the Federation is just doing their thing helping these losers pick their shit back up and join the fold. It's pretty well known that that Ehasz became head writer in season 2, which is when writing gets significantly better, and they were in control of the writing for the first two season of Korra..... which had a ton of questionable writing decisions. I'm not convinced they would make a live action adaptation that lives up to the quality of Avatar the Last Airbender. I think they would make what *they* thought made ATLA good, but that's not the same thing. I especially don't think a live action version should primarily be aimed at kids either. It worked in the cartoon, but even that was held back a bit by that.
