Got it a few months ago, and time just flies when I'm playing it. Level 68 right now, and think I'm finally nearing the
"end" of the main quest. Avoiding all the BoS stuff and not trying real hard to do wastelanders stuff. I just have a bad habit of getting easily distracted when trying to do a mission. Something new will pop up and I follow that thread instead.

My current gripe is getting a lack of legendary equipment that is useful for what I'm doing. Haven't really upgraded any of my gear since level 50 or so. Spending points on armor, I kept getting body and leg pieces, never a single piece of arm gear. Worst thing is that one of my legs is wooden armor, so the defense sucks and it is always breaking. But the +1 luck is nice for activating crit perks, it makes me invisible when I get hit in melee, and the reduction of weight from food/drink/chems is worth it's weight in gold to my packrat habit. (let's just say I realized i was carrying around 20 pounds of canned dogfood alone at 0.25 weight each)

looking for a new game but not sure if i really have the energy to dive into a long one that just ends up being mediocre where sunk cost fallacy starts to kick in and i'll be bored after 10-20 hours but just have to see it through the rest of the way.

It's a typical Dragon Quest game. If you've played them before, it is like putting on your favorite sweatpants. Can't say there is anything groundbreaking, but for me, the appeal was playing the same style of RPG I grew up on.

Maybe companies should stop understaffing their workers then. I worked in a theatre, and the payroll system was a joke. 17 theatres and 2 ushers assigned to clean them on Friday/Saturday nights. And people wondered why garbage just got shoved under the seat, hallway/lobbies didn't get swept of popcorn, and napkins/straws/butter were slow getting restocked.

Doesn't even need to be a cult classic. Critics have always been harsh on slasher movies. They will complain that it is senseless violence, gratuitous T&A, and not much in the way of story. That is why people watch them. Nobody is looking Citizen Kane here, so stop judging it on the same standard.

Shin Megami Tensei series strikes a good balance imo, you can't really spam attack until you get the pierce skill and/or decent almighty attacks and you have to pay attention to some degree to avoid having the wrong demon out at the wrong time. With enough internalized knowledge about the enemy population of an area you can eventually get to a point of grinding through muscle memory but even then there's the occasional rare encounter and the ever present resource management game to keep things interesting

My first SMT game was Nocturne, but I didn't really get that far. Not really a fan of constantly changing my party.

But I fell in love with the DDS games. So much more interesting to learn enemy weaknesses and what attacks were best suited for random encounters in order to exploit the press/turn system.

After reading the last book in the left behind series, it turned me off even more to wanting there to be an afterlife. The idea of sitting at the feet of god for all of eternity, endlessly worshipping him,sounded more like my idea of hell than anything.

I thought the show The Good Place did a great job explaining why you shouldn't fear non-existence after death.

Spoilers

They finally get to heaven, and meet people who have been there for hundreds or thousands of years. Anything they want is granted, it is an utter paradise. But they are all mentally broken down. The idea that it will never end is an eternal torture for them. Knowing that nothing will change and there is nothing to look forward to is absolute agony.

That only changes once they change the rules and allow people to move on to non-existence. It lets them appreciate what they have now, and once they are truly content, they have no problem calling it a life. Think of it as your life is the job you grind through in the afternoon, heaven is the party you are looking forward to attending that night, and non-existence is when you leave the party on your own terms because you know your day will never get any better.

World 5 in Super Ghouls and Ghosts. You need to have the double jump down tight. The avalanches in the second half were mindblowing when the game came out. And I just love the music for that level.

I like how it focused less on the kids and more on Johnny/Daniel.

Season was totally worth it for one of the scenes in Okinawa.

Chozen disabling Daniels limbs, honking his nose, then breaking out the perfect English and being like "Yeah, we all good. Here, I'll show you some new moves."

I found it easy to drop. Partly because it felt like i missed a whole ton of story. Also, it suddenly stopped being about giant monsters and became politics. Not my cup of tea in a fantasy story.

I say it on CE after each season concludes, this show is so much better than it has any business being. If you told me that Johnny would be my favorite character not only in this show, but across so many shows that I love, I would have never believed it. He provides so many dimensions, his childish ignorance and being stuck in the past, while having a giant heart and being a toxic douche bag all at the same time makes him a fantastic character.

It is frustrating. You can see him trying so hard to do the right thing, then in the heat of the moment he makes a dumb decision. He never seems to catch a break, and it sucks, because like you say, he is a great character and I want things to work out well for him.

I really wanted to love this game, but I just started getting frustrated at being unable to parry. I find it relaxing to do in souls/bloodborne, but i could never get the timing down in this one.

Then I got fed up with the first boss I encountered in the game. Don't recall his name but i think he wore a purple loincloth. Every attempt took forever, as I had to slowly creep through the house behind him to take out the regular enemies so I didn't get mobbed once I backstabbed him. Didn't help that I think a single hit would take out over half my lifebar and I think I only had two healing potions.

I kind of got the impression I was in an optional area, but was too stubborn to back out and ended up ruining it for myself in the long run.

Ozma, hands down, for worst optional boss. Tried the fight many times, and it always seemed completely random. Damage he did to my party fluctuated wildly from round to round and felt like he could attack whenever he wanted to. Whole thing felt so chaotic and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the way stuff happened. I'm sure the mechanics of the battle have been broken down, but trying it at release with no outside information was an exercise in futility.

It could simply be that said scene in her twenties felt exploitative and or she was worried about setting a precedent, but the nude scene now that she is older is more tasteful and actually makes sense within the context of the story.

I love me some good old exploitation back in the 80's with the horror and comedy genres. Everybody knew what to expect and it never seemed to feel cheap.

But Halle Berry in Swordfish? I saw that and all I could think about was how pathetic and gratuitous it seemed. Like here they are, I moved the book covering them up and now I'll talk for the next few minutes. At least in other movies, actresses are doing something when they're naked.

Lmao, yes they are. We have some of the worst wait times out of countries with universal health care. It may not be bad at the hospital you work at, but it's definitely the normal. Like I said, lady was in agonizing pain and had kidney failure was waiting 11 hours and died while waiting to see a doctor in the ER

Oh, I thought you were talking about Canada here. It's obvious you are recounting an amazing trip to ER's in the US, who need proof of insurance before adding you to the wait list short of impalement/dismemberment.

Wonder how close my Witcher 3 file was to getting corrupted. Near the end, my biggest motivation not to die was the long load times. Selling loot to vendors didn't seem to remove the item from the world, which is, I assume, the reason it took longer and longer to load the more I played.

Fallout 76 had an empty world devoid of any meaningful narrative outside of the bugs, at least Cybepunk offers something of mediocre substance without the bugs

I started playing this like 2 months ago, and I honestly think I would have enjoyed the empty world at launch in regards to human PCs. I mean, I am having fun but having human settlers makes it feel more civilized and less wild west.

Open world stuff is bad if you like a clean quest log. Nothing like accidentally starting a random quest where you then have to find 3 more random locations out of possible list of like 25 sites. And they randomly change if you leave the planted and come back.

Characters are nothing special. Typical personality types you find in most stories. Though I did find doing their loyalty missions fleshed them out into more rounded people. You do have the typical "boring, human soldier" type that was in the previous ME games. Grumpy Krogan squadmate is great though. Let's just say he is dying of old age, so is a wonderful "kids these days" mentality.

Story was interesting premise IMO, about colonizing new worlds. Falls into deus ex machina realm when it comes to making them habitable though. And the recurring evil race is nothing new, and has a very been there, done that quality to them.

That being said, I have played through it twice. Decided to try an insanity run but said fuck that after about 8 hours.

Sealab 2021 got the same result by beeping out "profanity". Made it sound like two pilots were having the dirtiest conversation in the world. During the credits, they ran it un-bleeped and it was just a normal conversation.

If that ambulance game is the one I'm thinking about, I hated it. They got rid of Crazy Taxi to put that one in.

Arcade I went to as a kid/teen got a lot of obscure or beta style games. I mean, I loved an earlier version of Trog that didn't have the eggs constantly repawning. I had a lot of fun with Undercover Cops, but seem to recall that it wasn't officially released in US arcades.

We also got a lot of racing games with fancy cabinets or bikes to sit on, but they were never there long. My friends and I went almost every weekend senior year, and it always a toss up what would stick around for longer than 2 weeks.
