I could be wrong, but I believe the coding world has moved on to projects being your resume. If you get involved in several projects and have a solid batch of projects, say on github, that is how you can get hired without any 'formal' training.

Most formal training now (associate degrees) is structured so you have this resume to show employers that you are capable of the work.

A deli slicer is extremely efficient at slicing, but a total pain in the ass to clean, and unless you like foodborne illnesses, you have to clean the hell out of it after every use. Like a stand mixer, but much less versatile. Also takes up a lot of counter real estate. Unless it's a real good deal (and with so many restaurants going under, you probably could get one used for pennies on the dollar) it's probably not worth it. And replacement blades are like printer ink compared to the price of the machine for an industrial slicer.

This. I had the same thought and had one many years ago. While I did use it often, having someplace to store it was the biggest issue.

I use the same 2-3 passwords that are a word in a foreign language - then I make random letters into number equivalents and different capital letters.

It results in about 10+ passwords and sometimes is frustrating because I can't remember which capital letter I used. I've been looking for a new system, because I have about 20+ different passwords due to each site requiring special characters, # of characters, capital letters, etc.

I tried the correct battery staple horse method - but due to sites having bogus password requirements, it doesn't work well.

I thought about doing this years ago.

When I was single - I would have done it. I figured the cost around 15,000 or so for the shed converted to a house + small plot of land. I figured when I got older and married it would be a fallback shelter. Never followed through, though.

Of course, at the time, I worked on a cruise ship - so the thought of a 200 sq foot house all to myself sounded pretty awesome.

I am finishing up getting a degree in December, so hopefully thatll lead to SOMEthing. Im not even looking for anything specific or a crazy amount of money.

I just want a stable job, with two days a week off, that isnt too far from where I live, that offers real benefits, where I dont have to worry about getting transferred, that isnt manual labor, that pays like $40,000 a year.

If you are finishing your degree and it is not at a local community college - check what programs they offer. They will usually only offer programs in industries that are looking for workers. If your degree is close to one of those programs, prospects are probably pretty good.

What really sucks is when you find a job you really like but there are one or two details that make you not want that job.

For me - it is mostly travel. Loved what I did the last 20+ years - but I'm not willing to travel anymore. Most of the world is a shithole and I have a great appreciation for where I live. I'd be happy never traveling further than 1-2 hours from my home for the rest of my life.

Depends on what it is. If you're willing to put in the sweat equity you can buy at 25th percentile and sell at 75th percentile. Or you can stock up on something that we all know goes up in value like Disney movies that will be vaulted soon and quickly double your investment.

But if you're wanting a passive buy and hold strategy, just go with 60-30-10 VTSAX:VTIAX:VBTLX and set it to rebalance every once in a while.

I dated a crazy Disney-lover in college who had to get all the vaulted movies. She insisted they would be worth a fortune. Then, she had to start converting her whole VHS collection to DVD. Since there won't be a universal format - I doubt a Disney movie would be worth any money.
