Capitalism isnt going to work with automation without turning into some capitalism-monarchy hybrid with multiple kings.

Maybe the world just wasnt ready for socialism yet. You cant just start out with capitalist world without failing, just like you cant start socialism successfully without a heavy capitalism period beforehand?

I do think CarefreeDude has a point about the team you end up on though. Some companies are going to be more stressful than others period.

I agree it's mentally taxing, and I didn't realize how exhausting that can really be until I got into it. I used to work 14 hour shifts in the kitchen. Yes, it was physically exerting no doubt, but I never found it mentally challenging. Once I learned the recipes it was a pretty easy job.

Programming is constantly presenting new challenges, and there really isn't a "right or wrong" way to do it. So if you ask 3 engineers, you get 3 different answers.

Judgmenl posted...
70 hour work weeks

I mean that just sounds like any high paying salary job. Not nearly as stressful as having money issues and living paycheck to paycheck. But I'm suprrised also at how exhausting my job is for similar reason. Arguments about basic shit that can be done multiple ways, superiority complexes, people incompetent about basic work skills but great at tech skills, people incompetent at tech skills but have great basic work skills, heated arguments about equally good directions to take, having to deal with whatever crap problem comes up, the nightmare of connecting different systems together.

I could probably do the hours in a less "mentally demanding" job and feel much more energetic at the end of the day.

Congrats. Expect amazing synchronization between your devices. Consider getting 50 GB of iCloud space for $1 a month. All of the stock apps are great and I believe iWork is free. Just spend a bit using them and youll get used to it and start liking them a bit than office for projects that arent super intense. AirPods work great with these devices also.

Consider buying the following two apps from the Mac store: Magnet, Daisy Disk

Also, look into Things 3 for all devices. Its expensive but worth it if youre into that kinda thing. Reminders is fine but Things is a whole new level.

Apollo is the best Reddit app.

Shortcuts lets you build quick and great automations.

Also if youre looking for apps, theres a few good photoshop replacements for cheap.

Internet browsing is seamless.

Get hand off working.

Make sure you texts can go to and from all devices, even the ugly green non-Apple ones.

Your copy and paste can transfer between devices. If its not working well then use Notes to quickly transfer.

Look I into Pythonista if portable python sounds good to you. The best IDE on Mac is pycharm.

I noticed I don't push hard enough, so I'm trying to push harder on things. Like when I saw badjay's corpse on cams, I knew it had to be yellow, even though I only saw his bag on the very edge of the cam. I said I saw the kill despite narrowly missing it.

"Caught yellow killing badjay on cams" is much harder than "saw badjay's corpse through cams and yellow was on the edge of the screen next to it."

Yeah, among the things I need to do is also find a better place to operate on the curve of false and true positives. When I look at it like a ROC curve it seems like it becomes a bit better to make more decisions on less hard of evidence compared to where I am now. Orange doubled back might be enough to sus orange instead of thinking of the many actual reasons they could actually double back as crew.

good employees don't just quit when the company becomes successful? Everyone in a decent position working there right now are multimillionaires and could cash out and passively withdraw over 100k a year for life. Sure the brand new employees have a couple years left until they vest, but most people don't and the more important people to the company aren't brand new.

Hanging the possibility of making 1M+ a year in front of them? Maybe it's just fun to work somewhere like that and people enjoy it? People thinking the stock will go up even more and that a couple million isn't where they want to be?

My apartment neighbors have always been great.

But also Im probably less picky and have always had nice apartments. I also dont mind hearing my neighbors on odd occasion because I have earplugs, as long as it isnt a regular thing. You probably couldve also just politely asked them to be quiet instead of calling the police and had your problem solved an hour earlier. But also its fine that you did call them.

My apartment is on the way to his work and is about 2 minutes from the workplace, like they directly drive by it. Mainly stopping by 2-3 times to play with the kitty for a few minutes, scoop the litter once. Everything is automated just dont want the kitty feeling totally abandoned and getting possible anxiety.

Theyd of course do it for free but Im thinking of just giving them $50? Or is that too low?

Was everyones watches like 1-3 minutes off of each other? Right now with everyones smart phones basically being synced in time, you know if someone is a minute late to a meeting or a movie or something.

Schools had bells, but not workplaces.

Were people always just 5-10 minutes early to things before the internet became accessible and portable instead of arriving last minute? Did everyone sync their watches to a tv broadcast?

Are more people just late now because everyone can now accurately tell if someone is late? Has it increased on-timepeoples anger about someone else being 2-3 minutes late? Does having an accurate time cause you to run later because you dont have that uncertainty built in?

Theyre public because they receive public funding. You pay half the amount for the full degree because the government/city/whatever pays the other half.

Community colleges can give you a full degree. Many cant support BS programs in every subject so they offer an AS program to students. Just like many places cant support a PhD program in every subject so they just up to BS. Continuity colleges also can cost as much as traditional universities.
