Biden would actually take climate change seriously (or at least not outright deny it), would address the pandemic seriously, would appoint heads of federal agencies that are actually qualified for their jobs and not actively trying to dismantle those agencies, wouldn't try to discredit the press/journalists or suppress first amendment rights, wouldn't try to suppress voting rights, wouldn't embarrass us on the national stage and destroy our relationship with our allies, would probably pick a Supreme Court Justice that's at worst moderate and not a regressive Federalist Society hack, wouldn't try to collude with foreign governments to enrich and empower himself, wouldn't pocket millions upon millions of taxpayer dollars through golf trips and stays at his own hotels/properties, would expand healthcare access and affordability, wouldn't be an unpredictable maniac who could cause chaos with a random tweet, wouldn't demonize black and brown Americans, wouldn't base immigration policy on racist beliefs, I feel like I could go on forever but that's just some of it.

every time my district manager says something on a conference call about crushing it with sales I have to fight back the urge to bring up all the people who turned down their medication because they couldnt afford it. healthcare should absolutely not be for profit. Id be willing to cut my salary in half if it meant a more equitable system (provided something could be done about my mountain of student loans).

Like the other guy explained, its more so convincing people to sign up or receive different programs or services. Were pressured to try and sell every single person on immunizations, get them to refill whatever prescriptions they can, sign them up for automatic refills/med sync/prescription savings programs, and we have to make literal telemarketing calls to a daily list of patients that the company has identified are prime candidates to receive these services. Nowhere in the metrics is there anything about actually making sure peoples medication regimen is appropriate for them. If it doesnt kill the patient, its basically ok.

I agree with whoever said policy doesnt matter to the general electorate, so I dont get the debate over whether Obama was considered moderate or progressive. He tapped into the zeitgeist at the time which is exactly what Trump did, and that zeitgeist consists of whatever white people as a whole feel is important. Biden would probably lose this election if anyone other than Trump had been in office the past 4 years (he still could).

I work in a retail pharmacy and 100% agree. My entire job is trying to sell people on shit and it feels so scummy.

also youre completely right about store quality. Just have a bunch of people getting 90-day supplies, signed up for med sync, getting immunizations, etc and corporate will praise the fuck out of you while patients have a miserable experience. Also the fact that we cant recommend prescription discount cards that will literally make peoples medicine cheaper because it loses the pharmacy money is the most anti-consumer thing ever and exactly why we need to get the profit motive out of healthcare ASAP.

Third option... end government backing of ALL student loans and allow those loans to be discharged via Bankruptcy again. Dry up the free money pool universities have been gorging on for the past 50 years, and make students take charge of their financial future by actually considering how much added earnings that degree will get them.

This results in universities being forced to lower their rates as the vast majority of students will not be able to afford them. It restores sanity to the loan sector by ensuring loans go to students who enter firelds which have a solid financial future to pay it back. It also pushes more people into the trades and other outstanding opportunities which absolutely do not require a college degree.

Keep governmental grants for specially gifted students, and perhaps some other limited criteria. But get government out of supporting the bloated college budgets.

"added earnings" is a terrible way to look at a degree considering the vast majority of people would benefit from the critical thinking and general knowledge that a college degree gives you, even people who end up going into trades. and removing govt backing of loans just throws more obstacles in front of poor students.

The out-dated laws are provably not equal (with more and more people noticing thanks to social media), while most of the marriage benefits applicable to men can now casually be obtained WITHOUT the ring...

If you're one of the lucky who have a good marriage today, great. But the incentives are drying up for most other people to bother and the laws involved with the institution desperately need reform to reflect current economic trends related to the sexes (ie: unnecessary crap like alimony needs to be abolished). Otherwise the institution is going to continue declining in the west (and immigration is NOT going to fix that). It's a problem with the local soil.

One of the greatest mistakes American culture did with marriage was allow it to become an exploitable industry that's in bed with government.

I love when people complain about this. What do yall think a marriage is? Unless you sign a prenup you're combining your assets.

I went to UGA and lived in Athens. Its a great city: super cheap, great music scene, good nightlife/bars, a great mix of different kinds of people due to the university being there, always lots of fun stuff happening around the university/town, and just hot girls everywhere. I loved it. And youre only an hour from Atlanta (where I live now) which is also super fun.
