Canada is good but we have our issues too. The weather sucks and I dont mean because its cold all the time like a lot of Americans think. It fluctuates rapidly. Just this week here, in the GTA it was freezing cold at the start of the week and and pretty warm by the end. We get weather like this constantly. Also the cost of living is super high with high rent/property value and sub par job availability for decent paying jobs. Socialized medicine is great to have but we pay a high price for it in taxes. We also get the pleasure of paying for people who have no interest in working with our taxes as plenty of people at least in my home town love to abuse the more socialistic aspects of our nation.

So, great country but not without its flaws.

Can confirm. Its also quite a lot more racist than a lot pf people realize. And the fact residential schools were a thing until as recently as they were is just disgusting.

But I really appreciate our gun laws too. America is too gun crazy and Australia and other places that basically make gun ownership non existent are strange to me. Guns arent inherently bad. I love going into the bush and target shooting.

Id love hunting but Im not really cut out for it. I shot one deer once and I felt horrible about it. That said its the most ethical way to get meat imo.

I couldn't sleep so I decided to have a double dose of Robert Carradine this evening with The Pom Pom Girls and Number One with a Bullet. When I think of him, I think of Lewis from Revenge of the Nerds and that laugh. He's just so perfectly cast as a dork that it's hard to see him as anything else.

Back in the 70's, Carradine played roles that were the total opposite. In The Pom Pom Girls, he's the star jock. Yeah, Lewis is the popular kid! It's weird. Just as strange as the movie. I don't know why, but films from Crown International Pictures are just perfect to watch at 2 A.M. The Pom Pom Girls is a slice-o-life film with nothing riveting in it, but yet I always have a blast. Something about the innocence of it all when watching a few young characters just enjoy life is comforting.

Number One with a Bullet is Canon's answer to Lethal Weapon and pairs Carradine up with Billy Dee Williams. It doesn't have the budget to match, but there's a charm to watching Carradine play the "Riggs" role where he's supposed to be a badass. Lewis as the tough and crazy copy the same year Revenge of the Nerds II came out.

Thanks. I dont wanna sound like Im trashing the US, but it really is night and day. I will say that for a tiny ass town Oroville 4th of July fireworks are incredible. They blow away anything we have on Canada day even in cities 20 times the size.

Been at least a decade since I saw em but man going down for that is always a good time.

Also the gorge in George Washington is the most beautiful concert location Ive ever been to or even seen. Its really incredible. But the towns are just... god. You gotta get to like Seattle before you find a nice place. And even that isnt exactly Vancouver. Not that Vancouvers lower east side isnt far worse than anything Seattle could drum up.

As well as the other things mentioned, the US spends very little on infrastructure so crossing into canada you immediately enter this bizzarro world where it's just like the US except... everything is really nice. Much of the US is cracked roads, weed covered sidewalks, empty soda cans, and empty lots with chain link fence.

I live ~30 mins from the us border and spent a lot of time down across the line and man I have to say this is so true. Osoyoos and Oroville share a lake and the difference is mind blowing. I dont like Osooyos that much but you cross the line and the discrepancy is nuts. You go from a beautiful idyllic little tourist town to a place that just looks like shit. Oroville is hideious in comparison. The whole town just looks like a giant dump. Its actually really weird how much shittier literally everything looks.

Since my post in Harpie's topic was buried deep into the kitty litter, I'm posting the video here. It's a trailer for a collection of educational films about not doing drugs. Think of the nightmarish boat sequence from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to get an idea of how "out there" some of them are. Others are just goofy. >_<

Ha, glad you enjoyed it! Rollins makes that movie. The intros to the series has a victim cut up into pieces with the number depending on which sequel it is. For example, the first film opens with someone killed but their body intact. The second opens with that girl from American Idol (I guess that's the right show) split into two because it's the second film. The third has a person cut into three pieces because it's part three and so on.

Yeah, the CGI is abysmal. The accents coming in and out is also bad along with, well, everything else. If you found some entertaining in it, I'd say go ahead with the rest as they're all better than it. They don't quite reach the level of the first or even the second though.

Seriously I cant believe cgi that bad even happened in a movie made in 2009. Thats nuts. And yeah the accents and most of the acting was terrible. Some of them (especially the ones who died in the intro) wouldnt be able to pass muster in porn acting. If they even did any casting for those people its amazing. If you took the first randoms to walk in the door the odds are they would've been better. lol Cool, thanks. I guess I will watch them then. The idea of people being sliced into that number of pieces is kinda neat. I probly never woulda noticed if you hadnt told me either.

I enjoyed Wrong Turn 2 quite a bit. They really didnt go for the whole hot girl horror casting ideal though. they had ROllins being badass and thats more than enough for me.

Also watched 3. Honestly it was bad but it was just a bad horror movie and still enjoyable enough i guess. Ive definitely seen far worse movies. The opening with the first 3 victims was incredible though. Some guy gets sliced into thirds in the worst cgi Ive seen basically ever, and the whole intro is just bad. Its almost like they wanted to give you something to make the rest of the movie look good comparatively. Besides the boobs anyways. It did have that.

I knew a dude who worked construction in Africa, for pay not charity, and he came back pretty traumatized after a raid on a camp he was staying at, and then being transported to work with a driver and guards.... and the driver casually ran down to people who were flagging them for help.

The workers were mostly Canadians and mad at the driver and he just said, "not worth the chance, it could've been your lives instead of theirs."

Les Stroud had a survival show with teens that was probly the most legit version of a survival show ever tbh. But even that was a far cry from ever truly being at risk of starving or dehydration or whatever.

tbf the first month really is a feeling out thing no matter how well you get on.

You have every right to feel upset and bothered by it, but youre not owed anything. Flings can be intense, it doesnt mean its not just a fling. Sometimes people dont comunicate and be as up front and honest as they could ideally be. Most of the time they dont tbh. Letting it go is the best thing you can do. If she cares she'll make the effort when shes ready.

Also a month in she may just wanna make the most of her vacation and that may mean other hookups, if she really isnt bothering to respond there's a good chance it does tbh.

Unless you both verbalized commitment and intensity in the relationship you gotta assume that it's still a prelim phase when it;s in the first month.

iirc thats the only other one I have previously seen. I dont remember it at all, but that probly means it wasn't horrible.

Sucks the series isnt good. I was thinking about watching al 5 or 6 but meh.

Is Dushku in 2?

Also the red head who dies early in the first one was cute as all get out. There was something about that girl.
