where do you draw the line at what is "too unhealthy"?

obviously tobacco would be banned based on what you've described. but what about objectively terrible junk food with zero nutritional value, like sugar filled sodas (that have been proven to be habit forming)?

I draw the line at things that immediately create slaves and are impossible to do casually. No profit from misery.

impossible, eh?

what if i told you that some people can casually use cocaine and herion and meth? what about the plethora of 'social smokers' who smoke but aren't addicted, does that mean you don't think we should ban tobacco?

also, no addiction happens "immediately". not a single one.

Are people going to stop overdosing if we dont legalize?

decriminalization reduces the chances of overdose (open drug testing) and also reduces the chances of said overdoses being fatal

Because some are incredibly awful drugs and people who produce them are evil. No one should legally profit off of the pain and suffering of the slaves they are creating. I don't care if there is a willing market. Some businesses are unethical.

I find it interesting that pure breeds are do sought out when it's just for a pet. Why is it so important?

behavior traits are more predictable with pure breds. like, when you get a pure Labrador Retriever you have a very good idea about what kinda personality the dog will have. versus mutts, where even if you know their ancestry / heritage, determining which traits are dominant is nigh impossible without just spending time around the animal.

that said, i'm a rescue dog 4 life person

And yes I know I need Poseiden's Aid first to get it...

And yes I do put on his Keepsake to try and help...

I second all of this. Keep your distance from Theseus so the only attack he can use is the spear. Dance around the Minotaur focusing on evasiveness with occasional attacks while keeping an eye out for Theseus' spear throw. Once Minotaur is dead, then focus on Theseus.

+1 to these, and also leverage the pillars for defense. if you do this enough Thesseus will actually complain about it during the opening dialog. he's fucking hilarious

What's the best weapon and trinket thing I can use to beat them the 1st time?

the 'best' weapon will depend on what you're the most comfortable with. generally, the "safest" would be the shield.

for the keepsake, i had good success with a fully upgraded Acorn (absorbs first five hits from boss fight) to help absorb some of minotaur's heavy hits. you can also go with Skelly's Tooth for an extra revive if you're just trying to clear it for your first time. also recommend opting into the minotaur mini-boss fight if you have the option -- gives you good practice against him 1:1 and if you win he'll have 20% less HP for the actual boss fight.

last topic purged. oops.

i'm starting to prefer Guan Yu for my spear runs. i got it up to lvl3 so the HP reduction is relatively manageable. still struggle at the start, especially on Extreme Measures Fury boss, but once I get up to like 100HP i'm usually good. i pretty much need quick spin on a hammer tho or i can't sustain HP on some harder fights / bosses

another prompt

A teacher says the Internet is down. List some of the first three things you might do to determine what is going on. You do not have access to any servers or network equipment. Specifically, what would you ask the teacher to do on their laptop?

so im guessing... try to figure out if its just their computer? check wifi settings, and then maybe troubleshoot more advanced stuff?

1) check the laptop's local connection is turned on
2) check the laptop's local connection is connected to the wifi
3) ask teacher to use a 'safe' site like http://google.com and report the exact error text (ie 'site cannot be reached' etc)

but im not a help desk person, just a programmer

a friend of mine is struggling financially. he was working retail but after seeing multiple co-workers come to work after testing positive for covid, he quit out of concerns for his safety as well that of his 60+ year old mother he lives with and helps care for. he is now unemloyed and struggling to pay bills and is potentially facing eviction in the middle of winter. he has started a GoFundMe to get some help.

he has been in similar situations before, where his utilities are cut off, or threatened to be shut off and he's even been evicted before. yet, here we are. again.

i really want to help him because he's my friend and i feel terrible for how hard things are for him. but i struggle because despite this happening over and over, it seems that he hasn't learned a damn thing. he's woefully irresponsible with his money and every time he starts to gain some ground and build savings, he burns through it faster than he saved it and it's almost always on stuff he "doesn't need". for example, back in the summer when the first stimulus check happened he spent all of the money. on things he didn't need. he upgraded his PC, bought a few games and got some decorations for his room.

now he's broke and asking for money. again. part of me really wants to help him because he's my friend, but i feel like it's almost futile to do so because once his bills are paid off he'll go back to buying unessential items and end up right back here in a few months again. but i also feel like now is certainly not the time to lecture him on changing his habits. i certainly recognize that a lot of what is happening to him is beyond his control, but i also feel like someone whose electric was turned off less than 6 months ago should not go around spending stimulus checks on new GPUs.

what do?
