I am stoked to try VIII. It's my friend's favourite FF. I've played through about a 1/3 of VII...it's enjoyable but hard to get into because I didn't grow up on it. I've been using the cheat thumbstick click on Switch tbh. I just want to experience the story, idk why but everything seems so long and drawn out to me.

What's exactly wrong with "meatless meat"? It's clearly labeled and not part of some deception scheme. It's also not crazy to think that vegetarians might enjoy the taste of meat, especially in most of the West where it's basically the default to grow up eating it and then make the choice to change later on. I only had one asshole vegan come in, but I can forgive her, she was like, 18. When I was prep-cook/front counter service at a ramen bar, we had just started sourcing our meat from the butcher across the street, which advertised 'ethically-raised meat'. All local farms.

Anyhow, she took issue with that and said that 'no consumption of meat is ethical'. At the time, the owner's 50 year old brother was also working the till, and decided to try to argue with her. I mean, duh, there's a scale of how 'ethical' something is. She should be able to admit that and see that these chickens are at least quite a lot happier in their free-roam environment before they are killed for consumption.

At the same time, in a work situation, I'd rather say 'wow, I hadn't thought of it that way. I'll do some more research' just to gloss over the situation. I'm working. I'm not in Philosophy 101. I mean, she walked in and still ordered our one vegan option. Whatever! Can't let it take up too much brain space.

idk working in restaurants for at least 5 years, you run into weird ass statements and views on food every day. It annoys me but I'm not going to argue with semantics when it's 1 person out of 100 daily.

I'm sure you explained it fairly, and they were still dense about it, but this would really be a chance to stock vegan substitutes for those things and get more money.

I think that people always go through their own thing throughout life, so finding out that someone from my high school committed suicide didn't faze me in the slightest. People are always going to go through hardships in life.

Now, to be fair. Peoples hardships and depression wouldn't be so bad if they did these things:

Eat Healthy
Not eat fast food
Exercise everyday
Eat breakfast everyday
Get 8 hours of sleep a night

Considering that most people only do about 2 of those things everyday, its no surprise that the suicide rate is so high in America.

But again, like that topic I posted a while ago, suicide rates would drop if Climate Change wasn't a thing.

Having dealt with a fair amount of suicidal people, it's almost always a result of temporary emotional instability that pushes them to actually wanna go through with it. I'm very much against making any long term decision when you're thoughts are compromised. It's much rarer for people to calmly reason that it's their best choice. Additionally, a lot of people don't really want to die, they just want some form of suffering to stop and see death as the only way because their thoughts have warped their perception of probability (ie: I can never be happy, I'll never be good enough, things will ALWAYS get worse, nothing will ever feel worth it again).

I'm not really sure why but a lot of people place WAY too much faith in their own emotions and the way things feel at the moment. They trust all their own thoughts for some reason.

This is a great way to put it. Although I've been in very depressed states for upwards of a year or two, I still somehow had the ability to emotionally detach myself and look at it somewhat rationally. I have lived with someone (white male, mid 20s) who would cry, yell, and threaten that 'tonight is the night'. That was really fucked to experience. I also think it's really nuts that people can't say "I can see this isn't the best time to be having this discussion, can we leave it until tomorrow?" when emotions are running high. But at the same time, I fully understand it...most people want the/a confrontation to happen immediately.

I dealt with suicidal thoughts/ideation for a number of years, but would never personally follow through. I know that death is not going to solve what pains me. I don't prefer death to life. Life can be infinitely painful, but preferable to death. That being said, my life has never been inescapably awful. Even with awful friends that treated me horribly, few to speak to about my genuine feelings and a soul crushing job, there was enough to keep me going. I understand why it seems like the only way out for some people though. I just hope those people can find the courage to reach out to talk about it with others. So many people have been there too and come out the other side stronger. So please, reach out.

Why would it be surprising that you wouldn't remember somebody who was a foreign leader when you were a very young child? You would have been about 1 year old when Clinton was bungling the LA Riots. You were around 3 when he was ducking Whitewater. You would have been 6-7 when he #MeToo'd an intern. You can hardly be expected to know much. Even many of the people on this board born in the 80s AND in the US had little awareness of the kind of shenanigans he was involving himself in.

What's your take on Clinton and the LA Riots? He did say some pretty crappy stuff, but so did everyone at that point in time. Government and society had a really puritanical bent at that point in time, that's for sure (very ironic).

Taking a quick skim...Ron Paul's take was a little...yikes.

I don't disown people, but I usually end up growing apart from them because I'm quite outspoken, if kind about it. I don't interrupt like most people I meet. I think I do pretty good, I live with a conspiracy theorist.

Still, I have a problem with being outwardly agreeable, but inside I am not. I'll drop listening to an artist if they've never been that important to me and have gone off the deep end. If I still love the art, but think the musician is fucked, then I'll at least talk about it frankly.

I never cared about BSB anyhow. I like making jokes about "I Want It That Way" being about pegging. Backstreet's Back is also dope, but I don't think the odd stream is going to embolden QAnon.
