Dealing with addiction is tough.

The important thing to remember is that they need to want to fight the addiction, you can't force them to want to get better. You can give as much support as you can, but it just takes one bad day.

Alcohol withdrawals can literally be killer too it's not a joke. So if/when he does decide to go clean, he will likely spend a few days in bed feeling like he's dying, with literal visual hallucinations.

...Back on topic for pronouns, I honestly don't care, and will catch myself missgendering my friends on accident (only because they transition after I knew them), and then I correct myself.
It's not a big deal, purposefully misgendering someone is a dick move, and as long as I get a quick "her" after I said something wrong, it's fine.

I, personally, don't care so much for the weirder pronouns, like xer and zer, but, that's because I don't want to deal with new words on a daily basis. I don't have anything wrong with it.

The thing is, that happens all the time. The fact of the matter is that, if everyone in the world went through exactly the same training as the average Olympic athlete, the existing caste of Olympic athletes would still outperform the vast majority of people because they've been handpicked for having greater innate abilities than their peers (otherwise the training resources wouldn't have been expended on them). If a 5'6" guy and a 6'6" guy grow up playing basketball together, the taller dude stands a much greater chance of being NBA-worthy despite them having the same experiences. And that's even without considering the role that wealth plays in improving the quality of training an athlete can receive, completely independent of the effort they put forth.

Yes, it's unfair to lose to somebody who's just inherently better than you, rather than somebody that put in more effort than you, but really, that's just how most of life works. Some people are just innately stronger, or more talented, or better-looking. The exact same logic used to criticize trans athletes for competing alongside their target sex can be used to criticize people that are good at music pursuing careers as musicians.

We do also draw the line at performance enhancing drugs (officially at least, I'm sure there's been more than a few blind eyes).

Basically, if a man discovers that they are a woman, and then she starts taking medicine to change their bodychemistry, it won't be a 100% transition down. There's some things that can't be actually be fully transitioned.
So there's a bit of an issue with the fact that men are physically stronger than women, in certain ways. So if you take a male body, and move it towards the female body, that person will straight up be better because of their chemistry.

A lot of sports is about becoming the best version of yourself, so someone coming along and doing better because of something unrelated to their training, is kind of shitty.

You get a lot of MtF trans people who go to the other category, and then start crushing. It's not an easy answer, and one that I kind of don't care about because I'm not trans, and I'm not an athlete, so I have no place to give random white dude opinion.

The rule of thumb is frozen shrimp is as good as slightly old shrimp, if it's straight out of the water, it's better, but modern freezing is actually very good.

I have a feeling it's meant to be edgy, but, if you have large scale corporations are thinking that LGBTQ+ is on the right side of history, that's gotta be a good knocking point.

I think people who drive as part of their job in general can run into an issue where they cant find a bathroom to use easily. Especially if they are in very residential areas that dont have portable toilets and if they drink a lot of liquids. But this is just speculation.

I imagine it's much worse when you are in a hot area, driving around on the hottest part of the day, and you're just trying not to die.

I just didn't like the aesthetics of DoR. I liked the cartoony aspect of everything, and taking that away for a more realistic battle feel makes it feel worse.

Mechwarrior mechs use Autocannons and Ultra-Autocannons. These are basically burst-fire cannons with calibers up to 203mm. Ultra ACs fire twice as many rounds twice as fast. Beyond that there are also Heavy Gauss Rifles.

You also just have straight up lasers for precision work. Slap 3 short range heavy lasers on a light mech and just fly around at 150km/hr, suddenly you're a pain in the ass to hit, and you can do a decent amount of damage.

Light lasers can also easily do the work as not the biggest baddest weapon around, but can still roast random infantry.

Yeah, I believe that's the Catapult, a secondary line heavy mech. This thing trundles up to where it needs to go (just 65 km/hr), parks itself in a solid line of sight, and then bombards whatever targets it can see with long range missiles. It's also got jumpjets in case things get too tight and needs to get out. It was produced by the inner sphere pretty early in the timeline at 2651 for the terran hegemony, and then the star league defense force until it collapsed.
A lot of different companies produced it for a long time.

On ground the legs are structural liabilities that barring some sort of fantasy metal with properties we can't replicate the joints will struggle holding all that weight and maintaining some sort of reasonable speed/mobility. It would just be a big target, that is before considering the energy requirements. Don't get me wrong I think robots are super cool and mecha is one of my favorite anime genres but I can see reality.

Oh 100%, it's just that if you want a game where you have big stompy robots who shoot fucking awesome missiles 'n lasers 'n shit, you need to build backwards, to some extent.

You can say the mech is able to leap out of the way of gunfire and that makes up for its lesser armor and even if that's unrealstic, it's a game so whatever.

Yeah, it's just talking about the in-universe reason for why to use mechs instead of tanks.

And also one way for mechs to leap out is through jumpjets, it's pretty effective maneuverability.

One thing that isn't immediately clear when looking at tanks is that they constantly need repairs. Those treads are awful and break a lot. If a mech had decent systems on the bottom of the feet, they can withstand a lot more. With solid supply lines like the modern military complex, it's totally fine.

But when you're dealing with a BattleTech-sorta universe where you have the production facility 500 star systems away, and your treads snap and you need the perfect match otherwise it breaks, then a mech is looking a lot better.

Not sure why you're forcing the mechs and tanks to have the same weight and power, seems like an arbitrary restriction. It's not like other real life weapons/vehicles "play fair" by being constrained to being the same weight, cost, etc... If one outperforms the other without sacrificing too much (like obscenely higher cost), then...it wins. The end.

Because when you're throwing a lance against another lance in a wargame, you have two options:
Tonnage vs tonnage or cost vs cost. Both have their cheese, hell, even little variant urby can randomly core an assault mech with an AC/20. But you try to make the game part balanced.

Planes require maintenance, that's whatever. It's something like 10 hours of maintenance to 1 hour of flight, from what I've heard of former airforce mechanics.
It's extravagant and stupid expensive of a plane, whatever.

I don't know why this is a big deal.
