I was diagnosed as bipolar in my teens but I wasn't diagnosed with depression till like 30 and once I was I realized that aside from my manic periods I had basically been depressed my entire adult life.

Its crazy how you can suffer from it and be totally unaware of it until you really address it and then look back and go, "fuck sakes how did I not realize anything was wrong?"

I have friends who exhibit all the signs of depression who are adamant they aren't now, nor have they ever been, depressed.

Its clear they are but to them that's outside the realm of possibility simply because they can't imagine the possibility they do (or ever could) suffer from mental illness.

I've been told by a shrink I'd more than likely qualify for disability due to my bipolar disorder.... but I never applied so I'm not sure if that counts.

Tbh back when it came up I probly would have applied but given the ridiculously low amount of money it pays and the fact it would take a minimum 6 months to get approved it wasn't really an option.

Mma isn't as widespread or evolved as the more established sports.

There are still plenty of people in the ufc who are not even close to top tier athletes. Thats why a guy like Greg hardy can get wins in spite of his actual skill level being years behind his opponents.

The sport is too young to act like the current crop are all elite level athletes. They simply aren't.

The pay and age of the sport means there's a lot of people who don't have anywhere near the level of sheer athleticism that's a necessity to make it to the same level in any other sport.

Look how far wmma has come in just the few years since rousey got obliterated and retired.

Yeah owning your own house is definitely a pretty big deal but ultimately TC doesn't feel like he's independent and self-reliant and he wants to change that

I get that. But stressing over what is essentially an arbitrary date isn't helping things. I'm not saying to change the way you view things and change your thouggt patterns in a dismissive way or as if its easy. Its anything but.

But I think in this scenario that it would be beneficial to work on that as well as moving towards independence in whatever ways tc wants to do so. Heck the one would likely benefit the other.

I had to sit through a full 8 hour presentation on respect and tolerance in the work place once (not just me everyone did it eventually over the course of a couple weeks).

The dude they brought in tried to say the company has every right to fire us if someone did or said something offensive outside of work and a co worker over heard it. He said you had to immediately apologize and alter your behavior should the other worker bring it up.

I asked, "so if I'm at a bar at a table with my friends and I'm telling them a story and someone from work is at a nearby table and overhears it and asks me to apologize and not to tell the story in his hearing I could be fired for continuing to talk with my friends if I continued to use foul language or say something they don't like?"

And the dude had the gall to say, "yes! Perfect example. When you are sharing an environment with your co workers in any setting work rules apply."

I think half the group currently taking the course burst out laughing.
