TopicC/D College is a scam
ElatedVenusaur

Really, this wouldn't be a problem if the cost of college was at all reasonable and going to college did not practically require taking out a giant pile of loans at relatively high rates for interest.
The fact that this "decision" is routinely made by teenagers makes it even worse. I can say with certainty that 17 year old me was a dumb ass with only a vague concept of how much college cost, and everyone around me encouraged me not to think too hard about it LOL OWNED

Like, the expense of higher education(whether that be a community college, a university, a trade school, etc.) should be heavily regulated and heavily subsidised to make sure anyone who wants an education can get one, and that deciding this isn't for you isn't more financially ruinous.
Again: especially because this is a decision routinely made by teenagers, who are notoriously poor decision-makers.

And see no value in being broadly educated
Yeah, that used to be the purpose of college: to educate the children of the ruling class into cultured, well-rounded individuals. As capitalism rose and became hegemonic, it demanded more and more specialized workers, and one way to ensure those workers possessed the basic knowledge to do a given skilled job was by requiring them to have a degree. How successful this is is open to debate.

However, even as advanced and all-encompassing as capitalism has become, it has largely failed to replace the idea that a universitys primary purpose is to educate, not just to prepare students for future employment. And, IMO, thats great, and it will be a sad day if universities convert en-masse into glorified job training programs.

Oh, and student loans are fantastic for capital, and not just because its a source of easy interest: being heavily indebted makes people desperate for any income. The larger and more desperate the labor pool for a given job is, the less expensive your labor costs.
And that is all we are in Capitals ledger: labor cost.

It's an investment. Like any kind of investment, there are wise and unwise ways to invest your time and capital. And what that means depends on your personal values.
This *is* the con: that college and education are investments that should be aimed towards landing as lucrative employment as possible.
It's the intentional erasure of anything aside from the economic.

This isnt normally the case with Byleths supports, except for their support with Rhea. Hope youve been grinding that and checking the menu diligently before you lock yourself out of the support levels forever!

My Whole Foods has some, and they're always breaking down and freezing even though they're less than a year old.
Also, each one is really small, but customers often try to bring carts with dozens of items to them, and get pissy when the attendant tells them to go to a register.
Sometimes, they even try to get the attendant to bag for them, which is funny, because there's really only enough space at the things for one person to stand.

Connecticut has crappy liquor laws. Many times have customers asked me some variation of, "Do you sell wine here?" because their Whole Foods probably has an expansive twee wine selection, but in CT, grocery stores are allowed to carry only beer, cooking wine, and hard seltzer: no wine or anything else like that. This is an arrangement that suits the state's innumerable liquor stores just fine, and is backed up by massive amounts of lobbying.
Alcohol cannot be sold after 6PM on Sundays. This doesn't apply to bars.

My plans foundering a bit right now: undergrad social work programs require work hours. These would normally be provided by a class conveniently not offered at community colleges. Goddamnit CT, arent you expensive enough?

So I couldnt get started on that as planned, and am now trying to get some sort of entry-level human service job, but thats not entirely easy either.

Oh, and I have this whole trans deal happening, of course. Time-and-energy-consuming; transition, but thats going well so far, at least.

I recently read Debt: A 5,000 Year History by David Graeber, and he cast U.S. treasury bonds in an interesting light: its basically cash transfers to the U.S. Treasury, and thus something like tribute payments, though of course these bonds theoretically give their holders some power over the U.S. , particularly in large quantities.

Yep, Whole Foods has a pretty strict dress code. Some of the "best" provisions

-No branding other than Whole Foods or Amazon
-No messages that could be interpreted as political
-Women cannot wear leggings unless their shirt covers their butt
-All shorts and skirts must be at least knee length
-No more than four colors may be worn at a time No rainbows, in other words.
-No floral prints
-No jean shorts
-No tank tops
-Socks required You won't find this one in the manual, but it exists.

I'll give you one guess who bears the brunt of dress code enforcement.

Rebecca is 100% worth sacrificing for a good level up. Or just because you don't want to spend half an hour redoing the level.

Because GBA archers are terrible.

Assassins are pretty bad. Sword-locked. Low-damage. Low-durability. Expensive promotion item. Just use Matthew until you get Legault then Legault for all your stealing/pick needs for the rest of the game on relevant chapters. It isn't worth having a dedicated slot for a thief or bothering to male them an Assassin.
I really think they thought archers were OP or something. Even the prepromotes are mediocre! Somehow they missed the fact that mages exist, have all of an archers' upside, except literally none of the downsides.

Jaffar at least comes with beefy bases. He's no Pent or Harken, but he can do some work. Louise is just a glorified stat stick for Pent, and she's still the best archer.
