I honestly think Sephiroths biggest point comes from smash.

How old are you? Not insulting you just a genuine question. If you're a younger gamer then you probably weren't in the industry when there was a boom with the ps1 with FF7 literally everywhere and dominating even generations afterwards.

If you're an older gamer, then maybe I dunno, you probably missed the hype I think.

FF7 literally defined a genre back in the day and is one of playstations legendary games.

Pile that on with the recent remake, his cameos in various games including smash and kingdom hearts, then of course a lot of people know him.

Kinda feels like Dragon ball super with the amount of times they've broken the universe and reality itself.

And I think some characters do fit the power fantasy trope and can still have a hard time.

Just look at Raiden, he gets his ass beat by Sam and Armstrong but the other 90% of the game hes cutting buildings in half, picking up metal gears the size of sky scrapers and throwing them hundreds of metres in the air, and rides missiles like they're nothing.

There was less fear and more freedom to express yourself in those days, sure you'd still get screwed over if you were a blatant racist, sexist, or a jerk (Anyone remember Imus?), but for the average person, things were great.

Yeah, bad people can usually be spotted. But I think to an extent people have accepted the zero tolerance idea of there being a fine line, and if you cross it just slightly, you'll get shot (metaphorically). The grey area has been eliminated mostly. And us humans need that grey area. We are people with complex ideas.

Anyone else feel this way? Everyday I feel more nostalgic for the time when not everything was so tightly connected like this. Every aspect of our lives weren't based around the internet or social media. Things were more open and in a way, the internet has ironically made people more closed off to each other, when you'd think it would be the opposite.

I know people can say, 'well just turn off the internet or your phone' but it's not just about me. It's the whole of society that's connected to this thing that, I dont know how to put it, keeps us from really seeing the world? I dunno. Maybe I'm just rambling and thinking like I usually do when I'm in bed late at night.

Edit: Maybe the lockdown in London and me losing my job a while ago has attributed to this. Also the fact that I was supposed to get my Visa to Japan last year when Covid ruined those plans.

In MGO I would choke out my teammates sometimes and take all their equipment then drag them out to the open for the enemy to get an easy headshot while they were still knocked out lol

Haha I loved MGO 2. I used to play team sneaking in urban ultimatum a lot. On the sneaking team, we used to climb onto the red building at the beginning of a round. I'd then quickly stab a team mate coming up the ladder, which takes half their life, then grab a hold of them, drag them to the edge and throw them off the building which finishes them off.

The kicker is, the game would register that as a suicide instead of a team kill and it would show up as such. Then the person would most likely try to get me vote kicked after dying in which I would reply in chat with "?".
