And there's a reason they don't use pits: they're stupid AF and even more unpredictable.

Wrong, they're easy to train and excel when given a task but ok. They use GSD, Malinois and Rottweilers because they are larger and can more easily stop a human in its tracks. No police force would use a medium-ish sized dog when there are larger breeds that can do the work. I have seen some Pit Bulls that were used for drug sniffing or bomb detection though.

Still waiting to hear the reason my dog and I were attacked, since you seem to be an authority on it and are insistent there was a reason.

I already explained it, dog was very dog aggressive and apparently poorly contained if it could just snap the chain. You jumped in, some dogs redirect and bite whoever tries stop a dog fight.

Um, Pit Bulls are medium sized dogs, German Shepards, Rottweilers and Dobermans are larger and can easily take down a human. A 45lb Pit Bull is not going to be stronger or bite harder than a Rottweiler or German Shepard. There's a reason why German Shepards and Belgian Malinois are often used for military and police work, aside from trainability their bite is very strong.

Dude....this thing snapped it's chain, tore through my fence, and went straight for my dog and immediately latched on to his face.
My dog stood perfectly still and didn't react at all up until it reached and grabbed him. My dog had never seen him before, and he is not a barker.

Walk me through the reasoning for that. The only thing I can figure is it is (was, he dead AF now lmao) extremely territorial and figured my property was part of his yard.

Which circles back to: shit breed + shit owners = shitbull statistics

Like I said, some dogs can't stand the sight of another dog and will want to fight, I've handled dogs like that. All dogs are individuals, the degree to which dog v dog, animal or human aggression has varies with each dog. Most people can't handle a dog that is red hot vs. another dog no matter what breed it is.

No I'm not disputing anything you've said. I'm saying too many people don't care or just throw their hands up and say "lol its the breed what can ya do" as their dog is snapping and snarling and pulling on it's leash.
Mine would pull and jump around at first if he saw another dog, through training I can now get him to sit reasonably still while we let the other dog pass at a safe distance if we're on a walk.
Sadly, being shredded by a shitbull and watching me get shredded (I'm told he actually jumped back in after I separated them and the pit turned on me) for absolutely no reason while on his own territory has set him back a bit.

Sorry that you got hurt, but dogs don't attack for no reason. There are always precursors, and there are levels to dog aggression. Some dogs can't stand the sight of another dog and will scrap at the drop of a hat, others direct it at certain dogs (i.e intact male), others ignore until they're challenged.

Like I said, Terriers are going to be animal aggressive and likely dog aggressive. Ever heard of a Patterdale Terrier?

Dog vs dog aggression is manageable with training and picking up on cues, and avoiding things like dog parks and keeping your dog leashed.

Um, the correct tempermant for a dog is, yknow, completely nom aggressive unless their owner is being attacked.

Dude, all dogs have varying levels of aggression, especially if they were bred to work as personal protection, estate guardians, or hunt. Terriers are animal aggressive because they are used in hunting and vermin control. If you have a Westie then perhaps it's not a good idea to have a pet rat. Most terriers are dog and animal aggressive, a Pit Bull has bulldog AND Terrier ancestry. Breeders couldn't have a Terrier or hunting dog that had no prey drive and didn't want to work, likewise Karl Doberman couldn't have a dog that was overly friendly towards strangers.

Animal and human aggression are different traits. A dog can be animal aggressive but totally friendly towards people, and vice versa.

There's no such thing as blue nose Pit Bulls. Blue dogs werent used much in the original breeding lines. Blue APBTs can happen, but most of those dogs are either AmStaffs, American Bullies (most likely) or some kind of other bull breed mix.

There is only one "Pit Bull" and that is the American Pit Bull Terrier, mostof these dogs that I see around are poorly bred American Bullies or some other Bull breed mix. To most people everything with a muscular build and short fur is a Pit Bull or a Pit mix these days.

I would not trust a pitbull. They're big, strong, and have really powerful jaws. It's not like this is a new thing where pitbulls are attacking. It's been like this forever. If I see a golden retriever and a pitbull outside, I'd be weary of the pitbull. Most people would do the same.

A lot of these "Pit Bulls" are either American Bullies or bull breed mixes. Actual Pit Bulls are not big dogs at all, most fall between 30-45lbs.

This is a real American Pit Bull Terrier. Not large, not overly bulky, just a well muscled, athletic frame.

People own pitbulls because they can be very charming dogs, when they are in a good mood they are extremely lovable and affectionate. That's not under dispute, the problem is that they can snap in an instant for seemingly no reason and seriously injure people and children and they do. It's documented. They have the reputation they have for a reason and it's not made up out of thin air.

Pitbulls are also dishonest dogs. If you see a dog with a wagging tail looking at you or coming you're way you naturally assume they are in a friendly or curious state of mind, not with Pitbulls. They can do that and be on their way to maul you.

A wagging tail on a dog does not mean that it is always a friendly outward gesture. A wagging tail could also indicate anything from fear to excitement, aggression, or a challenge of dominance. Dogs aren't "dishonest", they don't "lie" as they aren't on the cognitive level of great apes such as ourselves.

looks like the sorta bun that basically becomes a soggy piece of paper once you're 3/4 the way through.

It was thick enough to not get "too" soggy towards the end, but it was one of those things that you didn't want to save and eat later. You typically don't fry boudain but I see why they did it to try to keep the moisture from turning everything into a soggy mess.

Went to this local joint called Willy Burger, had the "Booty Burger". It was literally the largest burger I'd ever eaten, it had a ground meat patty but also a fried boudain patty on the bottom. It was good as fuck but I was no good afterwards.

History is forever, and it tends to repeat itself. We've made great strides from my parent's generation yet at the same time as a nation we seem to be going backwards. Injustices persist in race, gender, voting rights, law enforcement, etc. Like the saying goes "Ain't nothin changed but the weather", it's true in some instances (especially with voter suppression laws).

this feels like a disingenuous point because you know very well that they established it as a new experiment and a new way of doing things with the capability for improving ourselves and you know that the north beat the southern slaveowners into submission in a massive civil war and that most men were not landowners and just wage slaves.

the norm for the average person these days is that they can follow the same type of journey we did. Its a common part of what it means to be an American. Immigrant families are all over the place since the fallout from WW2 and its a great land.

Generally I avoid too many interactions with toxic people who only have negative things to say, its a great place where basically anyone can become whatever they want (with obvious exceptions, i wont be a damn astronaut or football player but thats not the point)

I tend to look at the country in the good and the bad, not through rose colored glasses. It was intended as a white colonial settler state, nonwhites weren't part of the equation unless it was for extirpation of Natives for the land or chattel slavery of Africans. For much of our country's history laws were put in place to ensure that kind of hegemony. Most of the founding fathers were walking contradictions, eloquent in speaking about liberty in one breath but having hundreds of slaves in the other. A lot of people would rather believe in the myth of George Washington chopping down a cherry tree when he was a kid, the whole picture of this country's history is not as pretty as people would believe. If talking about the unvarnished part of America is considered toxic, then call me Dr. Blight.

Most lay persons have no idea about what dog breeds (especially bull breeds) look like.

If I had a dollar for every time someone called my Cane Corso a Pit Bull I'd be able to buy a new car. Nevermind that at 125lbs she was taller and about three times the size of a Pit Bull, and if that didn't help her tail was docked at the 4th vertebrae
