$30,000 a year?

Um... correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't making money on ROMS the thing you're ABSOLUTELY NOT SUPPOSED TO DO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES if you're trying to keep your ROM operation as legal as possible?

Nintendo has gotten involved for far less, so honestly, what the fuck was this person thinking trying to make money by selling pirated Nintendo products illegally? Are they just that stupid?

I assume he made that money by running ads on the site, I highly doubt he was charging people to download game.

Kinda funny people getting pissed at this when this is a two way street if you have a smart thermostat or smart lights and lose internet you will be using the neighbors internet to run them.

The amount of bandwidth this shit takes up is also extremely small, it's not like you are sharing your internet and then they are downloading games or movies or something. The vast majority of the bandwidth people use is when streaming or downloading something, if you remove those two uses for the internet it uses like 5-10% of bandwidth for everything else.

There is a few factors going on here
Covid has really slowed down production of manufacturing. But on top of that, lots of companies are actually trying to move their manufacturing facilities out of China, which is causing more issues.

On top of those scalpers, cryptominers, and even people just hoarding cause there is a shortage are making it even harder to find things.

I assume that is partly because of Trump's tariffs he put up a bunch of tariffs to punish companies from importing from China. Biden could have removed them but so far he has kept them in.

I suppose that makes sense. Makes me wonder why theres this rush to put things back to normal if the virus is still clearly affecting the infrastructure of different industries.

Well in some areas the restrictions are harsher but the main thing people don't think of is the manufacturing of one item relies on another.

If I am making say a PS5 I need to contact like 30+ other places to get the parts I need to build it. So if even one of those places has some restrictions or can't fill my full order I can't build as many as I want.

It's not like one factory does all of the creation and building of a PS5.

I mean Covid is basically the main reason behind everything from what I hear, the manufacturing process is being limited in some cases and it's causing less supply of things.

I have heard of many items being higher priced that people don't even think of. It hasn't hit food prices as much but outside of that it has impacted many industries.

Ehhh...not really. The cast is top notch and they give it a memorable moment or two, but it's more or less a standard 2000-era raunchy movie without much creativity. It wouldn't be made in the MeToo era, and rightfully so.

I think most people like the film overall, it has over a 7 on IMDB. Sure if you hate some edgy content then it might not work, but I don't find MeToo being a problem here, guys trying to get a friend laid is a real thing that happens.

The movie also quickly evolves into a typical rom-com when he himself actually meets the right girl through normal means. So while his guy friends try to encourage him to hook up with nearly anyone, that is not the point of the movie at all.

Shit American Pie and Superbad are far more raunchy and focus heavily on the characters getting laid no matter what.

Well I mean getting anyone to change their mind about anything is a huge ordeal, a great example is the flat earthers they think that NASA and the government want to convince everyone the world is round based on some grand conspiracy.

They can't tell you the point of this great grand conspiracy, but they know it's real. I'm sure even in 20 years from now we will still have a die hard group that think that Biden stole the election from Trump, even though throughout those entire 20 years no new evidence that proves this will be found.

I guess you're probably not familiar with the source material and are basing your opinion on the more recent games, but the setting is reasonably close to what you might see in some cities. While there are futuristic elements and fantasy, the overall theme was very contemporary. When you go through the core book (I *think* it was a core edition, I'm not sure what happened to my copy), it has suggestions for encounters in convenience stores.

Additionally, the cyber-tech is often pretty low budget. The potential upgrades include installing a shotgun in somebody's forearm, something that you kinda can do with modern technology. Granted, part of it is that it was a future as envisioned in the 1980s and it was only set maybe 40-50 years in the future (which iirc they've pushed out)

And your other favorite, Werewolf: The Apocalypse >_>

Even if you go by that the original games still had magic and thing's like elves and dragons bro. So even if we go with the oldest version of Shadowrun the 1980's version which I owned as a kid it still doesn't fit.

Like I said it's a futuristic setting mashed with fantasy elements. Shit even back then the hacking done was by jacking into computers and entering a VR inside the computer world, and I recall that very well because the first Shadowrun source book had an elf jacking into cyberspace. I also recall you could become like wolverine and get claws put into your hand that could be retracted.

Shadowrun is pretty close to modern times.

Otherwise some of the GTA games kinda fit the bill, as do the Saints Row games (overlooking that SR4 has aliens, and then just ignoring Gat Out of Hell).

Honestly, unless you're kinda changing the idea of "set in modern times" to be some weird alt-verse with magic, etc, crime-themed games are probably the most logical choice. The kinda modern take on the quest, for instance, would be something like a heist (which would bring together a group of "adventurers" -- with very specialized skills -- on a mission to face overwhelming odds to get their hands on an item or loot).

However, if you are going magic, you'd probably just do urban fantasy of some kind.

Shadowrun is like modern times?

Have you played any Shadowrun game? The games are like 30-40 years in the future and they have advanced cybertechnology that people can put into them, and the other major change is magic and non-human humanoids are around.

It's like if someone took Cyberpunk 2077 and combined it with the stuff you see in Dungeons and Dragons. When I think modern times I don't think of random fantasy elements in a futuristic setting.

Anyways the only game I know of that has RPG elements in the modern world that is not a Mother game is the following.

Pretty much. Counterfeit ID's would also be inevitable, plus it's considerably more work for businesses to enforce an ID requirement than to just call out people that aren't wearing masks. The logistics of it are just too complicated to justify doing it, particularly where the alternative is just continuing to require masks until case numbers get low enough (which, despite some people's insistence, really isn't a big deal).

I mean even with a no mask needed ordinance across the country businesses could still require one if they deem it so. The same way a business can refuse to serve someone that refuses to wear a shirt or put on shoes.

Now that business might find some very irate customers with that assuming other businesses nearby drop the requirement but just saying.

I'm not sure why you chose to only read the final quarter of my post, but I think you'll find the rest of it answers pretty much every question you asked there.

To explain: If the CDC is announcing this, it's because they've determined that fully vaccinated people do not present a significant enough risk of being infected or transmitting the disease to warrant wearing a mask. I don't doubt that, especially as vaccination rates climb. That's not the problem.

The problem is that countless idiots are going to use this to justify eliminating mask mandates and/or lie about their vaccination status so they don't have to wear a mask. Unless mask mandates are kept in place, that's going to result in rising case numbers among that population, diminishing the effectiveness of existing vaccines and creating a breeding ground for variants that may get through the existing vaccines. This is also going to mean that, if a variant emerges that isn't prevented by the vaccines, the vaccinated population is going to be particularly vulnerable to that because they aren't masked, and especially so because getting them to wear masks again after telling them they don't have to is going to be hard.

Don't get me wrong, it's good that the science is supporting this, because that's a major milestone in the fight against covid. I also don't doubt that the CDC has analyzed the data properly. I just don't trust the general public to not screw this up.

I mean if the government really wanted to ensure only those fully vaccinated people get this they could create an ID or something that shows that they have been fully vaccinated. It would be quite an expense creating a special ID just for that though, so I doubt it happens.

In life I categorize people into five categories

Stranger: Someone I really don't know at all.

Casual Acquaintance: Someone I am somewhat friendly with when I see him/her but do not consider a friend.

Friend: Someone I would hang out with, and have done so at least some of the time.

Close Friend: Someone that I consider a great friend and feel a close personal bond with.

Family: Obviously someone I grew up with and have likely known my whole life.

Just because she was happy to see you and took your number, this likely was more of a casual acquaintance thing especially since you waited on her multiple times over the years. She might have taken the number just to make you feel better and not be as embarrassed in the moment where she was really thinking yeah I don't think I will ever use it.

It also has to be factored in how friendly she is with other random people, she might just be a very outgoing person that always seems super happy. So the overjoy to see you might just be how she behaves seeing anyone she knows.

Sure a relationship built purely on sex and physical attraction is doomed to failure down the line, but most aren't built that way. Now can sex be an important part of a relationship sure, but if it's the primary driving factor to why you are with a person that is pretty bad unless both parties are just like a FWB thing or it's a fling.

Billie makes extremely melancholic songs that are usually about sad things. Her most mainstream song when hearing it is Bad Guy and if you watch the video for that it's also pretty damn off.

It's nice seeing a pop star that doesn't try to just copy what Britney Spears did 20 years ago. Another thing she does most pop stars don't do is make her own music, she works with her brother to make all the music. Most pop stars have writers and in most cases a group of people make the beat then they just sing the song.
