Ah, of course.

Man, if these were all Agatha Christie references instead I'm sure i would've gotten many of them, but I digress.

So we saw Natsume's room and it's dark, miserable, smells like musty books and cat poop, and doesn't have a window because of window tax, supposedly.

And now Sholmes is here and he did his deduction...that the carpet was gnawed on by an Asiatic lion! Wow, what a total nonsense. This is great.

Before going into the Course Correction, I'd say the thing they're hiding is...the cannon? And they walled the other windows so the tenants won't see that they've been shooting cannons at...something. Maybe Garrideb actually misses his time in the war?

Then, we also saw that the exterior of the building has suffered considerable blunt damage. Did they have someone to play wargames with real cannon balls back and forth across the street?

Woo hoo! I won! More importantly, Sonia won! Anagram, you've got great taste in waifus. Yeah, you basically hit the nail on the head why I think Sonia is super endearing. I'd just add that she's also super nice and consistently try to raise people's spirits (the "Heart" thing) and it counts for something.

...also, she mentioned that she's not a virgin which might or might not be a plus for some people.

One criticism that I've heard people say about her is that she brushes off Kazuichi's advances, but eh it's a bit of a non-factor for me.

Thanks for running the topic, it's been great.

Ah, I see. And a street urchin, no less!

Anyway, here we go - the Adventure of the Traveling Kokoro

We get a new case. Thankfully this time we have one day to prepare for the trial. And the prosecutor on duty is none other than our educated friend, Baron von Wicks!

We met a new person, an officer of the Scotland Yard - Gregson. Another Sherlockian reference, I assume. He's eating fish and chips. Mmm...

Next, we go to the prison to see the defendant. Seems like he's Japanese. And he's...Soseki Natsume?! Like, the real life novelist? The one who wrote 'I Am a Cat'? Fun.

Also seems like he's making katakana shapes with his body, but since it's English it doesn't really translate 1:1, they kept the alliteration in the dialogue though.

Man, the writers really know how to left us wanting more.

Oh here's little Iris and her steampunk-y gadget.

Poor Phoenicius and Susato, nearly spending the night freezing at the park...but instead they spent an enormous sum to spend at a lavish hotel! Better than freezing to death at least.

And...huh...the carriage is on fire...and the victim is...

She's Jezeille in a disguise isn't she? :((

(I'm loving these English accents in the dialogue by the way.)

Well, either way, she didn't hear the victim boarding and now our suspicion is turned towards Fairplay and Furst, who were on the rooftop. Fairplay's panicking animation is...weird lol but kinda amusing (the one where he gallops like a jockey).

Also I know Lestrade is the name of a recurring inspector in Holmes stories, is the first name Gina a reference as well? (Don't answer yet if it's spoiler-y)

In this case so far we've gotten the defendant, the prosecutor, Chief Justice, five jurors, three witnesses, and the victim. That's gotta be a record for new characters in a case. Though maybe that PL x AA case with the masochist guards had more witnesses. But this case is just starting!

Oh, that's right.

I was thinking how the case had similarities to 1-3 in that the murder was arguably an accident caused by an untimely push, but the culprit dug herself deeper by tampering with the scene of crime in the hope of getting away.

Anyway, TGAA-2 done! It was pretty good, I like how there are a lot of twists and that the culprit is still portrayed somewhat sympathetically. Although her breakdown was a bit disappointing, animation-wise.

RIP Kazuma though T.T

Oh hmm if the ship's thrown off balance the door would lock on its own. So there's a possibility that there's a big coincidence at play here. Let's say when the ballerina wanted to board the ship, she came here on another vessel. That's how the door got locked from the inside.

But then...did the killer plan for it? Did they just leave, knowing that Nina would come on board?

Let's say there's an assassin. He drugged the ship, killed Kazuma, left, and since he's part of the Russian ring that's helping Nina get away, he knew that the door would be locked. Or she I guess.

Hmm new theory time.

Someone drugged the whole ship's dinner because they knew that Pavlova is in the ship and they wanted to steal the tiara. But since Kazuma didn't eat any of the killer killer chicken dinner, he was still awake. The thief mistakenly entered Kazuma's cabin and the two fought but Kazuma was killed.
Then the thief locked Kazuma's cabin, used the hidden door to get to Pavlova's cabin, but couldn't steal the tiara because of Pavlova's pet standing guard. Then they... escaped. Perfect!!! /jk

Hmm, some weird unexplained things

1. The bell to call waiters seemingly don't work
2. Hosonaga, Phoenicius, and Herlock all have headaches - and gas was mentioned, so maybe some sort of knockout gas was used?
Also Bif didn't fill the ship log after 2AM this morning.
3. The bookcase/sea god statues might have something to do with the case as well. Mechanism to open the wardrobe secret door perhaps?
Maybe after spreading knockout gas throughout first class passenger deck, Ninalova opened the wardrobe hidden door and...killed Kazuma...because she's an assassin? Or there was someone else there...

Fun fact: Grimesby Roylott is the name of the villain of the Sherlock Holmes story this case was named after, so that was a bit of misdirection you would only catch if you've actually read the story!
Ooh I also didn't know this! I'm much more of a Christie dude. Also I was trying to figure a pun but there's probably none there. But we did get Bif Strogenof so all is well.

And I gotta say... I thought Inspector Hosonaga's bloody coughs would come into play in the first case but it didn't. And he's back here. Maybe it's for a future case.

He's a bit weird but he's really sticking up for us, so he's cool. Poor guy got mauled by the captain.

Also the new Course Correction mechanic is...fine. It's not bad but it's super easy compared to the other gimmicks like Little Thief, Logic, Logic Chess, Perceive, Athena's emotion matrix thing, etc.

It did feel like it.

Okay, glad that case was wrapped up. Sucks that Miss Mask * D'Masque won't get tried here. Maybe it's a Dahlia situation and she'll get convicted in a later case.

Now let's set sail to chapter 2! Shout out to these chapter case graphics being uniquely bespoke to each setting.

The murderer is...Phoenicius! Again! We're the new Maya it seems.

And the victim is...
Nooo :(( our bro for life. Damn. This sucks.

Did we really stowaway in the luggage and (as Susato put it) "lived" in the wardrobe like a Pevensie sibling? lol

These letters are weird. I think it says...Garderon...? Garderos? or maybe it was tampered after and the letters originally said Tarabrob or something...whatever that is.

Or maybe it said wardrobe and he wanted us to be found before we starved to death. Aww Kazuma. :"3

Also from the little prologue cutscene my hot take is that someone sent a trained snake through the vent to bite Kazuma.

...and now we have this freakishly large Herlock Sholmes destroying the crime scene.
