eating at chick fil a has become kind of a dog whistle for homophobes who know they will get modded or banned from the websites they visit for voicing their opinions of LGBT people so they instead talk about how delicious chick fil a is

so what they want to say for example would be "gay people should be lynched" becomes "im going to go eat at chick fil a today"

there now they have a way to tell you they hate gay people without getting punished for it and can feign ignorance when called out on it

tv stations get to do a pilot episode to pitch to the network and the network will only pick a handful of them to give a season to

netflix doesnt do pilot episodes they do pilot seasons. to see how the audience responds to something so any pitch to netflix could get a short season made but most will not get a second season

so corporate pandering is overall a good thing
i grew up in the 90s and 2000s where people were very vocal about how much they hated us and that was the norm
in high school when my health teacher ranted to the class about gay marriage on the verge of being legalized in canada and how he didnt agree with the sick lifestyle and we shouldnt get marriage rights. did anyone stand up to him? would he even get a slap on the wrist if someone did complain? no because this was the attitude that was common place back then

its through corporate pandering and inclusion on television that helped switch public opinion around
so its better that i get pandered to for one month than it is to go back to the days when most people very openly hated me for existing

the divine dragon can be beaten in 3 rounds with miranda
if you've saved up at least 3 of the really powerful spell items and found the power up and speed up items then have your other characters use power up and speed up on miranda and then just have her throw those 3 powerful spell items the divine dragon will be left so weakened that a single attack from just about anyone will kill it

They make the Dragoons sound like they were each a single mythical being each, but here in this age they bounce around to everyone.

as a kid i always thought that shana's power was growing and the dragoon spirit left her because its power was incompatible with hers so it found a new master
recently ive heard another theory that shana was never meant to have the dragoons power but her own power let it harness its power for her own until it found its next rightful owner in miranda

i prefer my take better because it means that once the story is over shana could take the dragoon spirit back

Other than that, I can't think of any major game that had a non-white female in any position of protagonist.

RE5 did have sheva and the game does try to present her as chris's equal in that game and co lead in the series as a whole she is a one shot character likely to never be seen again
but it does give us a rare black female protagonist
but the story is still all about chris and wesker with sheva being there to ask questions and be the audience surrogate for new players who are just starting with RE5

the other virages looked cool

and there is that optional boss battle with the wolf that has an alternate cutscene if you have miranda instead of shana
but i hate miranda so ive only seen the scene with her in it once.

disk 3 has the long ass explanation of the games plot and all its twist and hopes that the epic boss battle against the divine dragon will distract from how outright dull this disk ends up being

jrpgs were just getting main stream recognition at the time and Llyod does bear a passing resemblance to Sephiroth
the death of a party member in the first disk also felt like the same story beat.
and of course things that are just jrpg/anime tropes like the childhood friend tifa/shana and the perky teenage girl yuffie/meru might have seemed like a rip off to someone not familiar with the tropes
