And Syria is one of those conflicts we shouldn't be involved in that will invariably bite us in the ass down the road. The biggest reason we got dragged into it was because of the Obama/Kerry "Red Line" where, once the threat was made, we either had to step up or lose the perceived impact of our threats (which did eventually lead to *some* chemical weapons being turned over). However, everybody involved in the war sucks and the fact it's been a proxy war between the US and Russia has prolonged things and only made shit worse for the Syrian people, triggering a massive refugee crisis which in turn has caused issues in Europe, etc. It's an imperialist shitstorm deluxe.

I've honestly just tuned out on the whole thing at this point. We're very unlikely to see an actual resolution to anything the way things are being handled, and even if the US succeeds in yet another regime change, things are still going to be a mess and the weapons we've been funneling to terrorist groups are, rather unsurprisingly, going to be used by those same terrorist groups (or their offshoots) against America and Europe in the future, at which point we'll act surprised that arming terrorists is a bad idea despite, you know, the fact that we've already had a long history of arming terrorists being a bad idea.

I know we disagree on a lot, but reading this is very refreshing for me. It's insane, there are 'alternative news sources' that have done a great job with the propaganda they're being fed - The Grayzone is the first one I was confronted with. They simp for Assad 24/7 and deny the chlorine bombing of Douma in 2018.

I'm completely anti-American involvement, but it's really bizarre that people can't figure out you can hold that opinion and denounce the numerous documented war crimes perpetrated by the Assad regime. It's like being able to denounce Saddam while disagreeing with the US invasion. These kinds of politics played out back then too - certain politicians (George Galloway comes to mind first) wanted to kiss his ass and praise his leadership. Like...ok?

They kept crying wolf all of these months to keep the national guard there, until politicians rightfully got fed up and demanded that the national guard be removed back in May. Now it seems like the Biden regime is trying to get them back there and keep it going.

How many "warnings" have we had about something said somewhere on the internet since the Jan 6 riots? And deadline after deadline has passed with nothing happening (and some things, like the claim Trump would be sworn back into office, were more ominous BECAUSE of the military presence since the government would be the ones to do that). There are always going to be random claims of shit happening, but there's not enough support for anything. And the people who might have wanted in on it were either shamed after the Jan 6 riots or arrested for their role.

Do you see a connection between the Charlottesville events and the Jan 6th events? Why would Trump fans throwing out random dates be purposefully creating a smokescreen for Biden to increase military presence? Even your own conspiracy is pretty loose.

My Trump-obsessed father called me a few days before January 6th and gave me the creepiest phone conversation I've ever had. Kept asking if I was prepared to drive home at a moment's notice in a couple of days and vaguely alluded to something big being about to happen, and when I told him that I didn't plan on it and to stop asking, he gave this creepy psychotic giggle and said "Okay!"(in a don't-say-I-didn't-warn-you-fashion) and hung up.

Damn, that's creepy. People like to question the 'planning' of this stuff, but it's remarkable how much gets said with a wink and a nod. Hitler didn't expressly tell the SS exactly what to do, yes they still carried out actions that benefited him. Might seem like an extreme comparison, but political polarization and disinformation is still extremely rampant amongst the US public.

Just wondering how many other people agree with me on this. I feel like there's a lot, LOT of people who would probably be doing more productive things with their lives. Sure, games are fun, but there's better, healthier ways to have fun. I can't really think of anything which I was able to get out of a video game that I couldn't -- hypothetically at least -- have gotten somewhere better. I've also seen many people who absolutely use video games as a distraction for avoiding real problems. I'm not sure they'd be able to do that so easily if their hobby was a sport, an instrument, wood carving, etc. Games are just way more addictive and time consuming now than they used to be. Although I will say, I do think games are at least better than watching TV since they're at least relatively engaging.

Again, I love me some games, but I place them squarely in the "tolerable vice" category of my life lol.
